UK Cover for The Maze Runner

What do you think? I absolutely love it. Feels like a movie poster to me, which is pretty much the highest praise I can give something.

This book will be coming out in the UK in August from Scholastic/Chicken House. I had the good fortune to talk to a lot of the people responsible there on a phone conference, and they are wonderful!!! I wish/hope I can go there at some point and meet them and all my new readers. And I want to see castles. And Big Ben, Parliament... (what movie?)

Check out their website page for the book and what else they have to offer (CLICK HERE). They're incredible, and they'll also be publishing TMR in Germany. Chicken House rules!

I'm knee deep in my second round of revisions this week for THE SCORCH TRIALS. Krista always knows how to step it up and pull things out of me I didn't know I had! I'm also mourning the end of the Olympics. *sniff*

If you missed seeing the cover for Book 3 of THE 13TH REALITY or you want to enter the contest to win Bree Despain's THE DARK DIVINE, then CLICK HERE. I'll announce the winner later this week. (Coming soon: tour dates and Q&A from the comments.)

  1. That looks aMAZEing (bet you haven't heard THAT before). Very exciting.
The movie? European Vacation. I gave my husband a Big Ben blown glass ornament for Christmas because he always finds the perfect place to throw that line into life. He loved it.
Can't wait for the Scorch Trials!

  5. Awesome!!! It's black and gold, shiny and metallic, and I can see a little person running... perfect!

Remember, survive, run. What a great subtitle! Who came up with it, if you have any idea?

  19. OK, I'll be the first to be critical of the UK cover... at first, I thought, yes, great! Then I thought about it (always a dangerous move) and realized the US version was definitely superior. The UK version tells me nothing that the title hasn't already. I am not informed at all about the story other than someone is running a maze. It could be a cornfield, a park maze, or ancient Crete for all I know. But the US cover- wow, I absolutely get the fantastic feel for an otherworldly experience. Which is what I'm looking for. Just my two cents.

But the UK cover does look like a movie poster.

  20. My thoughts exactly--looks like a movie poster. Foreshadowing the future, of course! You'll have to get a big display case for all of different versions of the book. Way cool.

  31. I really enjoyed the Maze Runner. It kept me curious through the beginning of the book which is essential. I wish I could have found out more about the girl, maybe gone into their relationship more from the past. I'm interested to read the second book, I thought the story was original and not overplayed (like the vampire books...though i do read them occasionally) I was wondering if you had an estimated time as to when the second book would be released...or a ballpark date? -jess.....the cover for UK was pretty sweet too

Sorry, I should be doing my math homework but that would be going against my motto.
    Dashner first, the rest second.
(That contest is truly one of the most bizzare contests I've ever heard of)
Yeah but I totally agree, the book does look like a movie poster. Hopefully one day that will be one of the movie posters. ;) ---wink.
