Today I would like to tell you about an incredible book.
Now, in the interest of full disclosure, I have to tell you that THE FOREST OF HANDS AND TEETH by Carrie Ryan is from the same publisher (Delacorte) and the same editor (Krista Marino) as my book, THE MAZE RUNNER. But, you know what? So are a lot of other books. I really loved this one in particular.
As anyone who reads my blog knows, I despise spoilers with all my heart. So I give very brief and very non-informative reviews. Here it is: this book is awesome! Come on, ain't that good enough for you?
Seriously, it's like THE VILLAGE meets LEGEND meets ROMEO AND JULIET. It's creepy and it's heart-warming at the same time. And the bad people are called The Unconsecrated. I'll never forgive Carrie Ryan for coming up with that before me. Oh, and they'll give you nightmares, just in case you were wondering.

I think some people will enjoy seeing all their made-up words in one place. ^,^ I give a special shout-out kudos to Donna for making the whole thing up.
Now, I know that she probably wants to do something special with them, like put them in a book, so I'm not going to do anything with them, personally. In fact, I didn't change any of the words' original meanings or usages. All I added was official pronunciation, unless someone already supplied it. I hope you all appreciate it.
Oh!!! and BTW, James? I spotted Hunt for Dark Infinity in my Borders!!! At last it's come! Now I just have to wait until it's available in the library.
My word is miderals. Seriously. Just one letter away from minerals. I know! It could mean the pills you take when you're sick with a cold or something. "I deed to dake my miderals dow." Get it?
Whoops, didn't work. Zyess. When you're trying to convince someone to do something. Pronunciation: zee-YES. Usage: "I don't know what to say." "Zyess!"

ReplyDeleteDashner- So glad to get a review of Duplicity from someone I trust. I was thinking about seeing it and now I will for sure. Also, I saw that title, "Forest of Hands and Teeth", at my B&N yesterday but I didn't pick it up. Of course, now I'll have to. In the mean time, I'm catching up on my classic lit. I bought "Treasure Island" and am already a couple of chapters in. It's already promising to be a swashbuckling read. :)

ReplyDeleteLexicon- Love Clive Owen, too. Inside Man wasn't my favorite, although Clive Owen was amazing in it. I just didn't love the story that much. Totally not his fault. :)

The Thirteenth Reality is superb. I haven't read anything like it (by saying this I mean it is really really good). I have never read an author like you before. You incorporate everything that makes a story interesting, easy to follow, funny and you make the story so exciting that I can't put it down.

ReplyDeleteHmm. Thleug. Could possibly mean a weird type of wind instrument, like a flute, except it doesn't make a whistley sound, more like a bassoon or something. A deep kind of noise.
I read this book not too long ago after a Twitter friend begged and pleaded and bullied me into moving it up MT TBR. I was entralled from page 1. Loved it. Can't wait to see what Ryan comes up with next.
