Kirkus Review, Tour Dates

One week. One week from TODAY! The Scorch Trials will be in a bookstore near you. I'm so excited for all of you to read this book. Extremely excited. Here's hoping you'll like it.

I'm ecstatic to say that Kirkus sure seemed to like it! It REALLY made my month to get the following review. And what better way to preface the list of events of my upcoming tour. If you don't like slight spoilers, you might want to skip it though. I love at the end they label it not only as science fiction, but as a "thriller." That's music to my ears...

Here's the full review:

THE SCORCH TRIALS
Author: Dashner, James
Thomas led the Gladers to safety in The Maze Runner (2009). But after just one night’s rest, the survivors are told that a true haven is still a long way off. To reach it, they have to pass another trial: crossing an expanse of scorched earth while being pursued by the Cranks, humans infected by the Flare, a disease that inflicts madness. If they can just make it to the designated meeting point on time (and alive), they will be met by a rescue team from the shadowy organization behind these trials, receive the cure to the pandemic and never have to face danger again.

Constantly on the run and threatened, the Gladers struggle to win. Thomas tries to protect his friends while searching for Teresa, the lone girl from the Glade, and grappling with elusive returning memories. Taut and bleak, continually intriguing and surprising, this is a solid sequel that keeps both Thomas and readers wondering what is really going on. Hooked readers will hope they won’t have to wait long for the answers that have been promised in the next installment. (Science fiction/thriller. 12 & up)

  21. Hello James. This has nothing to do with your blog post or your books (sorry, I don't often do this =P) but I was wondering if you were interested in doing a meme? I tagged you in this post:

    http://magentacarmineroberts.blogspot.com/2010/10/8-questions-from-rainyrani.html

You are probably really busy, what with Scorch Trials coming out and all (I'm really excited for it!), but maybe you'll think of doing this for a future post?

I'd be really honored if you accepted and did this meme. Heck, I'd even be honored to know you read my blog. ^_^ Just something for you to consider, okay?

    Thanks a lot! ^_~
One of your many #1 fans,

  22. Dear James Dashner,

I did not find your email address on your website. Therefore I thought of leaving you a comment in the Q&A section.

My name is Gaelle and I'm sending you this comment from Belgium where I study translation.
I will soon start my last year and I have to translate a book into French for my thesis.

I've always wanted to translate children's books and I discovered your different series. I first read "The Maze-Runner" and loved it, but then I saw your other books and they are exactly what I am looking for. They are the kind of books that made me love reading when I was a child. Plus, I really enjoy your writing. Therefore, I will do my very best to make a perfect translation.

In fact, I will present my thesis in two years, but I can't present a book already translated in French. Therefore, I would like to know if your books are being translated or will be translated in the near future. If you could tell me that they will not be translated, that would be wonderful for me.

Here is my email address: gaelleguilleaume@gmail.com

I look forward to your reply.
    Best wishes,

    Gaƫlle

  24. I just finished reading The Scorch Trials...in one word...AMAZING. I couldn't put it down and find the development of the plot and characters richer than in The Maze Runner.

The only problem is we have to wait a year for the third book :(

    Congratulations on this thrilling book.

  25. No Florida :(

    Hopefully someday
I just finished Scorch Trials about 15 minutes ago. You've got me so hooked on this series.
And now since I have to wait for the 3rd book. I'll be taking a look at the 13th Reality Series.

Don't forget the Florida fans :)

  26. Came to check out your tour dates. Wish you were going to be closer to me. 6 1/2 hours is the closest locale. I would love to have my book signed and meet you!! I'm half way through Scorch and I absolutely LOVE it!!! Brought it to work with me today...lunch time reading, break time reading, and perhaps a little under the desk reading. :) Thanks for writing such an amazing series. I can NOT wait for The Death Cure!!

  28. So I just finished your second book, in just a few hours I might add because just like the first I couldn't put it down. In fact, I was almost angry I had finished it so fast and didn't have the next one! So hope you're writing quickly. :]
But yes, I just happened upon here to see any news about the next book and saw you were doing a tour. I figured I'd look to see if you were coming out my way but figured you wouldn't because who comes to Santa Rosa when they go to California, but as I'm sure you already know, you ARE going to be in Santa Rosa. I'm quite excited about this and hope I'll make it out there. I think my friends would mock me for how giddy I am about this, especially with it being so near my 23rd birthday and all, it’s like an early birthday gift! I always thought meeting authors and famous scientist was far cooler than meeting the latest pop singer or movie star. Then again, I've never wanted to act, just write, of course I ended up becoming a nurse. Such is life.

My apologies for the long comment. I blame it on my current reading frenzy. It's making me long winded. Anyway, glad to see you. Also, my apologies about the Giants beating the Braves. Good games though.

  32. LOVED the Scorch Trials, I just finished it today. It's rare that a sequel is as good as, or better than the first! I couldn't put it down. When does the third come out?! I'm already dying, because I need some answers!!
