Book 2 Release Update

Kinda good news/bad news from my publisher yesterday. The good news is that Barnes & Noble and Borders did order a nice amount of the book for all their stores nationwide. The bad news is that I don't think they'll show up in those stores until next week.

I'm really sorry for all this confusion. I don't know what happened. I hate that some people are having to wait to read it. I promise your patience will pay off! (And, of course, this blows the teensy weensy chance I had at hitting any bestseller lists. Oh well.)

We had a lot of faithful Dashner Duders show up at my signing in Orem last night. Thanks to JN, Q, Georgie, Becky, Deb... did I miss anyone? Thanks for coming!

It's been a lot of fun doing events for this second book. Instead of being completely brand new to everyone, I always have people who have read the first book and loved it enough to come get the second one. And last night I had a girl come in who'd almost finished THFDI and I loved talking to her about a couple of twists in that one.

I'm off to Arizona today, where I'll be doing several signings and a lot of school visits. The schedule should be up over at www.the13threality.com.

I'm around 21,000 words for the sequel to THE MAZE RUNNER. I'm really trying hard to keep writing during this book tour so I keep the flow of the story fresh and good. It's not as easy as you think!

See ya in Arizona. I know this post was boring. I'll try harder next time. I have to pack and get out of here! But have no fear, I can read the ever increasing insanity of our comment section from my phone. Later.

No schedule up for Arizona yet. How am I supposed to visit you if I don't know where you'll be?! =) I'm excited for you, though.

I've never been to your blog before & then I get to: I know this post was boring....LOL. Happens to the best of us. I am never told mine are boring, wrong or too opinionated, but never boring :-). Good luck with your book. Coming to the stores next week is much better than not coming at all. ~Mary

Man. I wish I still lived in Arizona. But now I'm in Florida. I hope you come down here someday.

Your posts are never boring, Dude. ^,~

Good luck working on the road!

Kir3sten, I just sent my pub an email telling them to hurry and update the stupid thing. I'll let you know here when they do it.

Yeeeeeah, Magenta, I just reread my post. I should change it. It's so boring my eyeballs won't talk to me anymore.

Mary, I'm sorry you had to read my blog for the first time and get that garbage. But welcome!

Sorry about the confusion, James, really. I hope it doesn't importune you too much. But hey, cheer up, I pimped you a bit on my blog! That should make up for any misfortune you've experienced, right?

Oh, and for anyone here who believes that Mr. Dashner sounds like a Jane Austin character, I have bad news (but can't say it front of James!)...

Cool! See ya in a day or two. . . if I can find out where you are. Do you have our phone number? Or either of my parents' cell numbers? Or my email (my first and last name at hotmail)? Or Richard's email? Contact us somehow so we can meet up and make those tentative plans a reality.

21 K words? Dude...you're flying. I'm dying to hear the answer to the writing question of old. (Previous comments) Of course, I will forgive you since you've been real busy writing and touring and appeasing the mobs of people who worship you.
But just this once.

You are already on the sequel? Impressed, I totally am.

Lucky (please read this in Napoleon Dynamite voice, It sounds so much better this way).

Look at you go, James! I can't imagine how difficult it must be to keep up the flow of a work in progress while bustling about here there and everywhere.

And to those waiting for the 2nd book - it's more than worth the wait!

Whoohoo! I put a copy of the first 13th Reality on hold at the library and I should have it in my hands tomorrow.

Good job with the word count. Keep it up!

Jeez-when did my comments become so blah! You're boringness is rubbing off on me.

I'm chillin' in the airport, about to do some serious writing. I love modern technology.

Thanks for those nice words Kimberly!

Arlene, your library has it but B&N doesn't? How does stuff like that happen?

I feel so lucky then that I got an early copy last week and read it. I posted a review on Amazon. I couldn't believe I was the first one. Didn't ARCs go out? My kids were mad that I made them wait (even though James was nice enough to sign the book to THEM)--I had to read it first, I said.

You guys are going to LOVE IT!

I agree with Mr. Dashner. It sort of was a boring post. ;) But not too boring 'cause I'm in it. :D

Thanks for signing my pieces of paper! I really appreciate it. Have fun in Arizona! Lucky duck.

Never fear. Even though you are busy in Arizona, we are still creating and using the Dashnog language in your absence.(See previous posts if you are new to the world of Dashnogish.) In fact Deb and I were discussing the pronunciation of Pungr at lunch today. I like the soft g and she likes the hard g sound but no matter how you say it, a snicker almost always follow.
Dashnog vocab word tonight is:
narytoni-[nar-i-tonee] v. to speak before you think and say something you wish you hadn't.
Have fun in Arizona!!! Beware of the tumbleweed.

The AZ schedule is now updated over at the website.

Sorry I've been so quiet! School visits and writing are keeping me pretty busy and mostly away from the Internet.

The Scarlet Tart said...

Between you commenting on the blog everyday and getting the next book, I think everyone wants the next book. That's just a wild guess.

The Scarlet Tart said...

I still don't know how you do it. Does it get crazy trying to remember everyone you meet? And still writing and editing as well?

Dashnog word of the day--handing...as in, I'm handing you the deed to my house. Please take it.

Not really, but if you want to pay the mortgage, I won't stop you. :)

James Dashner said...

Arlene, I always forget people I've met, and they look at me like they've been hurt. It's one of the worst things about this. I always feel awful.

Don't worry, I won't forget you.

Im mad at you dashner...my verification word is diship it means the rare moments where Dashners number one fan is mad at him

The Scarlet Tart said...

Hey #1, you know we all love you! I'm sure Dashner is beyond busy. There's no way he'd ignore you on purpose. Just imagine all the crazy book signings and bad nights of sleep in skanky motels. Plus its got to be crazy keeping in touch with his family let alone all us crazy fans. Just give him a day and I bet you're the next one he pays attention to. :)

Love your veri word--diship...it's almost like swearing, haha!

thanks I guess....

I think I just made it worse, which was not my intention. Sorry if that was the case. I will keep quiet from now on.
