13th Book 2 Paperback: Come and Get it!

Just wanted to let everyone know that the second book of THE 13TH REALITY is now available in paperback.

I said this when we first revealed the new cover, but I'll say it again: I love, love, love it!!! Kudos to the artist, Owen Richardson. The inside illustrations are the same as the hardback, done by the equally talented Bryan Beus.

We continue to get a steady stream of newcomers to the Dashner Dude, so I'll just give a quick recap of this series. Book 1 (THE JOURNAL OF CURIOUS LETTERS) and Book 2 (THE HUNT FOR DARK INFINITY) are now available in paperback. Book 3 (THE BLADE OF SHATTERED HOPE) comes out on April 7th. We should be revealing that cover here on the blog very, very soon.

I have two publishers for this series. The hardbacks are done by Shadow Mountain, the people who brought you FABLEHAVEN. The paperbacks are from Aladdin, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, and they've decided to have different covers, but keep the inside illustrations. It's scheduled to be five books in total.

The basic premise: a group of scientists called the Realitants study alternate realities. In the Thirteenth, they've discovered that science has been mutated into a dark magic. Very bad things happen.

How's that for short and sweet?

Many of you found me through THE MAZE RUNNER. If you liked that, I hope you'll give THE 13TH REALITY a try. I'm really proud of it, especially as it gets deeper and deeper into the story. Enjoy!

I'll answer your questions from the comments in my next post. I hope everyone is enjoying the Olympics. Pretty sure I've watched more coverage than anyone save Bob Costas. Curling rocks! So does biathlon! And all the usual stuff. The Alpine skiing is my #1 favorite though. And hockey. And short track speed skating.

Talk again soon...

I am way excited to read Book 3. I know a couple other people I've introduced to 13th Reality who are pretty excited, too. Also, I love the new cover.

I went to Barnes and Noble yesterday and about died when I saw the 13th Reality books in paperback. I kept wandering back to the kids section to look at them . . . :)

So, I think that everything should shut down for the Olympics. Nothing ever completely turns America off anymore, not even major holidays. But I think we should all get to go home and just chill during the Olympics. So we can all cheer on our teams and interact with the world all day! Haha. What do you think?

I bought book one at LTUE but I'm in the middle of moving and have forbidden myself from reading it until my endless list of chores are done. Now I just want to read it more. I have will power. I have will power. I have....

I liked the first book towards the end, but I really couldn't wait for him to get away from his dad. There relationship seemed too perfect and happy, not realistic at all so it sorta bugged me. I think I'll still get the second one though.

I just learned all the details of synopsis writing today in my last writing class (which, still not being a writer was just completely fascinating). I'm way impressed you just wrote it in three sentences! Props my man!

As a book store employee, I got an advanced reader copy of The Maze Runner. I really liked it, both as a reader and as a mother. I'll be getting the final release copy for my teen son. I'm sure he'll get hooked. I'll also plan on checking out the 13th soon. I'm sure I'll be recommending them both to young readers at my store. Keep up the good work.
