Just wanted to drop in and give a few tidbits of information:
1. I'm participating with a BUNCH of authors in a "Writing for Charity" event on Saturday, August 21st at the Waterford School in Sandy, UT. All proceeds go to buying books for under privileged children (and that's a good thing in case you're wondering). Some of the authors include Shannon Hale, Brandon Mull, Bree Despain, Brandon Sanderson, Jessica Day George, Dan Wells, Wendy Toliver, Sara Zarr, Anne Bowen, Emily Wing Smith... okay, you get the point.
If you have any interest in writing, or just like to meet authors, check it out. The evening event will be a lot of fun, and, ahem, yours truly will be serving as the MC, so you never know what might happen. For all the details, CLICK HERE.
2. I'm working hard on the third and final book of the MAZE trilogy, THE DEATH CURE. I'm writing the climax right now, which is very bittersweet because it means I'm almost done with this story. Boohoo.
3. The paperback for THE MAZE RUNNER comes out in two weeks!!! (Tues, August 24.) That's the same day as MOCKINGJAY, so at least I know a lot of people will be in the stores. The first two chapters of THE SCORCH TRIALS are in the paperback of MAZE, and there's also another little surprise that I'm not allowed to share yet...
4. Speaking of SCORCH, it comes out in two months! (Tues, Oct. 12.) I'll be going all over the country that month, so hopefully I'll get to see/meet a lot of you. Looking forward to it.
5. If you live in the United Kingdom (that's not Disneyland, for my less educated readers), MAZE is now available there. I'd love to hear from some of our UK Duders if you've seen it, read it, whatever. I know you're out there!
6. My wife has officially agreed that I can get a brand new iPad as a reward for something that, ahem, I'm not allowed to tell you about yet. (I do love throwing that around. I really do.) I would just like the world to know that I'm very excited about this.
7. I swear I had more to talk about, but I should cut it short anyway. Lots of writing to do!
8. Have a wonderful day.
9. Oh, this just in: a soon-to-be giveaway of the SCORCH ARC from our very own faithful Duder, Dave: CLICK HERE.

My ARC of Scorch Trials came this week :-D
I'll take a picture of the Maze Runner in Scotland for you James!! Where do I send it? Your twitter?!
I told my book store to order a bunch of copies and they did!!!!
i can't wait for SCORCH!
Hmmm... a movie deal? Is that what you can't tell us? That would be exciting!
It's totally got to be a TV Series. I've always said this book was like a Teen version of LOST! Can't wait to hear your newS!
Hey Dash! I bet I can guess what you did to earn the IPAD!!!! Also, just an FYI, James is 100% correct, I am giving away an ARC of The Scorch Trials which happened to be in my mailbox today! YAY!!! Just a minor adjustment- the link here on Dash's site is to a post talking about the contest but not the actual contest. That will definitely be launched either over the weekend or early next week after I have read it and have come to terms with having to give it up. Also, there will be a review of Scorch up as soon as I finish it, which is hopefully tonight or tomorrow! The review will contain NO spoilers, so you don't have to worry about that. Lastly, when the contest is up and running I will let Dash know and I am sure he will link to it directly. Good luck to you all and I can't wait to pass it on to one of you lucky shanks!

Remind me why I live in Boise and not Utah....
Have fun this Saturday.
After the Maze Runner trilogy, you'll have to come up with another genius story. You'll figure something out.
Haha. James, you're awesome possum. :)
Oh, I want it! Pick me! Am I too late?!...
That was an evil ending to the sneak peak for SCORCH. Oh well, I guess I'll need to figure out another way to read SCORCH before it comes out...
The contest is now live for my ARC of The Scorch Trials by Dash at our blog site that James was kind enough to mention in this post. If you would like to enter, go to:

Contest ends on 8/24/10 to celebrate the paperback release of The Maze Runner! Thanks again Dash from all of us Duders and good luck you guys!

Can't wait to hear about all the the "surprises"! It would be so cool if you could come to Honolulu, Hawaii! Seriously, not very many authors come here because it's not exactly somewhere you could drive to from the mainland.... So I wouldn't be too upset if you won't be able to come. Man, I can't think of words to phrase how awesome it would be if you came.
Hey James!
I was wondering if you're are going to be coming to Georgia sometime during your The Scorch Trials book tour?
Thank!
Alyssa :)
I hope i get my ARC today, the waiting is really annoying. why cant things just transport themselves to where they need to go faster? but then again, ur mail hasnt come yet, so i still have a chance of getting it today. not that it is a certainty that ill get it. i can only hope that i will get it today. but i will have to wait until after 3:00 today to get it if it comes. i hope it wasnt damaged in transit!!!!!!
1. I really wish I could attend that event (J. Scott Savage mentioned it before ^_^), but I will be in Boston the entire month. ~,~ Still, I hope you'll let us know how it all goes. I bet it'll be lots of fun. ^_~ Please tell me there'll be another such event next year, and that you'll attend that one too???
2. Happy writing on Death Cure! ^_^
3. Thanks for that date! August 24th. I'd sure like to check out Mockingjay... ^_~ And of course I absolutely must read the 2 sneak-peek chapters in paperback Maze Runner! Way awesome!!!
4. If you include Florida on your list of tour stops, PLEASE let me know. ^_~
5. I'd love to see UK's reaction to Maze. They'll probably love it as much as we do. ^_^
6. iPad?! Lucky you, Dude! Hope it's an cool experience!
9. Yay! New contest from Dave! This time I'll try really hard to win my own ARC. ^_^
Graham: That is way awesome! How did you get an ARC??? Can you wangle up another one for a contest? I really want to read SCORCH!
I cannot wait for Scorch Trials. And yes, what is this mystery tidbit of news you are dangling here? New book deal? Movie deal? One can only imagine the possibilities!
I agree with Brian. It must be a movie deal because, ahem, you have, ahem, hinted about it. And you, ahem, said things when you ahem, signed my book....
I wish I could come to the writer thingy! But, one, I don't live in Utah anymore and two, I'm out of town. Sigh. Oh well, have fun, Duders who go.
I live in Cornwall in the UK and I've just spent the whole day sat reading The Maze Runner... and I absolutely love it!
I loved the Hunger Games and on the cover Maze was recommended for HG readers. I love Maze as much as and maybe even more than the Huger Games!
Got to be one of my favorite books of all time! Also, I can't believe it's going to be a trilogy as I thought it was just a stand alone!
When does the Scorch Trials comes out in the UK?
O...M...G!!!! I just read the sneak peek of the first five chapters of Scorch Trials - you ared KILLING me, James! I can't believe what you can do in so few pages. Oh, how I wish you were speaking at THIS year's Montana Reading Conference instead of next year! If you decide you love me enough for an ARC, I'll review it and give it away on my blog. You know how my blog readers love you!! :-)
I finished The Scorch Trials yesterday and I was quite pleased. I will review it probably tonight with NO spoilers. I have to say, perfect companion to Maze and great lead in to The Death Cure. I loved it exactly the way it was and although not all of them, most of your questions you have been asking yourself since Maze will be answered for you in Scorch. Great job Dash!
