3 Weeks! Tour Dates.

It really hit me today. The Scorch Trials comes out in THREE weeks. That's nothing. That's, like, 21 days is all! Roughly.

Yes, in 21 days, on Tuesday the 12th of October, The Scorch Trials will be available in stores nationwide (USA and Canada only, other countries later). I'm so excited for you all to read this book. So, so excited. The early reviews are very positive (yay Kirkus!!!! review to be shown here soon) and I just can't wait for those who liked The Maze Runner to see which direction the story goes. I can promise you'll be surprised.

I wanted to give some heads up on events over the next month. I'll be a very busy boy, and I hope to meet many of you while out on the road. Please come and see me!

First up, for those of you in Utah, I'll be at the Orem library tomorrow (Wed the 21st) night at 7:00 pm.

Then I head to Toronto for the Teen Read Awards sponsored by the Indigo bookstore chain, as well as a few prepublicity events for TST. Sidenote: I'm very excited to meet Ally Carter!

After that, it's Austin TX for the big book festival on October 2nd. Anyone out there coming to that?

And then comes the official release tour. My release party will be held at the amazing King's English bookstore in Salt Lake City on October 12th (Tuesday) at 7:00 pm. To all my faithful and long time readers and friends in Utah, please come. Please come!

And then I head off to several cities. The schedule isn't set in stone yet, so look for that in the coming days. But I CAN tell you which cities I'll be visiting, and the dates, so you can mark your calendars. We're trying to go to different places than we did last year. More details to come...

Boston, 13th and 14th
Sheboygan Book Festival in Wisconsin, 16th
Indianapolis, 18th
St. Louis, 19th and 20th
Portland, 21st and 22nd
San Francisco, 23rd - 27th

I really hope to meet a lot of you. Be sure and let me know if you're a Duder!

More soon...

Finally, we've now spent two weeks on the NYT Bestseller List. Two is twice as good as one! Stay tuned for lots of fun stuff and information leading up to Release Day.

Sidenote for comments: What did you guys think of THE EVENT series premiere? I want it to replace LOST for me, even though I know that's impossible. I had mixed feelings. It's no LOST, but it was definitely intriguing.

Happy almost release!

I watched The Event but was not impressed. I don't think this is one that I'll watch.

Huge conrats again on the NYT bestseller! So happy for you!

I have your Orem Library appearance on my calendar, but finally decided I better not show up ... since it's my husband's birthday.

But just so you know, I was tempted to come listen to you instead of celebrating my husband's birthday. Very tempted.

I've posted the Orem date on my classroom wall. My student teacher is reading 13th Reality with the 7th graders right now. They get Maze Runner the end of October. ;-)

It looks like we pass in the night this time - I'll be in Utah when you're in Texas, and back to Texas when you're in Utah.

You're gonna have a blast!

Yesterday another ARC of THE SCORCH TRIALS came to my house, so I decided to give it away. If anyone wants a chance at it, come visit my blog. http://alvor-daretodream.blogspot.com/

The Scorch Trials is officially Freakin' Awesome. My husband is already reading it, and he hasn't read a book since The Maze Runner.

I did watch The Event and wondered about it trying to be like Lost. I guess we'll see.

I'll be at the library tomorrow!I did a Maze Runner giveaway on my blog so I'm hoping you'll sign that for me to the winner. And I really hope to make it to the launch party in Oct. Exciting times. Have fun with it all!

Yay, happy near-release-day, and congrats on staying on the best seller list! The Scorch Trials definitely rocks (I got one of the ARCs). I loved it so much, I had to do a review on my blog last week! Thanks for writing a great series. :)

What?! Tomorrow is my birthday! Maybe I could figure out some way to slip away from my family to come see you...

Dashner. How could you?!
YOUR NOT COMING TO COLORADO!!!
That's a crime.
I hope you liked my review...I was a little nitpicky though. I guess not coming to CO is my punishment...
I'll try to sneak onto an airplane or hitchhike to Utah for the release party. Teehee

I feel ashamed, only the 11 comment. Sad. I'll see you on October 12 in Salt Lake. I'm quite excited for the release of Scorch, may even go before school to pick it up. I usually never do that, only for special books.

Happy NYT 2nd Week Bestseller List, that's fabulous!

And congrats on the tour, hope to see you soon,

-Jackson

I too saw The Event. While it's still getting off the ground, I'm suitably intrigued, and the twist at the end will definitely bring me back next Monday.

Could you whip on over to the West Coast of Canada to visit Vancouver? We're really cool here, and we buy a lot of books!

Add it to the list for the tour of the third book for sure!

My kids would be thrilled to meet you!

Picked up The Limit Dashner and I am totally in love with it. This is my second day with it and I only have 60 pages left. So AWESOME!

Cheri Chesley said...

Wow, you're really hopping. I've got Oct 12th on my official calendar, so I'll see you then. It totally drove me crazy during your class Saturday morning (roundup) that you had a copy of The Scorch Trials and were just flipping it around in your hands. I wanted to look at it, but didn't want to interrupt class time lol.
On a side note, can I get you to email me at Cheriwrites(at)yahoo.com? I have a couple of questions about speaking at schools. Thx! Cheri

Jackson Porter said...

Dashner, I just finished Limit in under 42 hours. It IS a good read. I fell in love with it.

Everybody, go get the book NOW!

I am looking forward to the new book, but why no Los Angeles on the tour??

I'm a bit jealous... I guess you won't come to Brasil so soon (if you ever do so).
Anyway, i'm a little awkward in the blog, cuz Maze Runner was the first of your books i have read, and it's been hard to find others in my country. But as soon as The Scorch Trials get released i'll buy, for I can't take too long (finished the Maze Runner yesterday, for God sakes!)

Man, you're goooood! A briliant writer and wonderful story-maker. Congrats!
(said too much...sorry)

We have seven copies of The Maze Runner in our library, and all are out in circulation (with many students on the waiting list). Our students are going to be so excited to hear about the release of your sequel. I think the highest compliment a writer can get is when a reluctant reader picks up a book and is hooked. Your books do that for them. Thank you for inspiring our readers!

I want to meet both you and Ally Carter!!! Too bad you're not coming to LA :( so sadddd!!

on the other hand, SO EXCITED FOR THE SCORCH TRIALS!! WHAAA!!!

I love your books, and I bought you book at your book signing at Puddinghead books in St. Louis. I would like to know if you would be interested in talking to the 6, 7, and 8 grade students at the school I go to. I myself am from 8th grade and I personally know a few students who would like to know more about being an author and are big fans of yours. I don't know an exact date, but this is on Friday afternoons, and will probably reach into late October.

OK. I feel like a dummy ... what is the event in Austin on October 2nd? The only book festival there I know about is the 16th and 17th ...

Hi! Ok so are you coming to Michigan at all?? Also I can't find the 3rd 13th reality book anywhere! Well I would love to see you and get the second book to the maze runner!

Looks like you might be coming close to me. I'm not too far from Indy. Cant wait to see where you go although that is a school night...

Looking forward to the Scorch Trials. Students keep asking for a book like the Maze Runner and I keep saying...there isn't one yet!

I'm a librarian in Aurora, Colorado and I'll be using The Maze Runner for my young adult online book club. James, it'd be great if you could blog with us! I was looking for other contact info for you, but failed. Our blog is http://blog.ccsd.k12.co.us/booknook/
and Maze Runner will be up in a few weeks.

I second what Irish said. I was not impressed with "The Event" at all. My new favorite new series is "No Ordinary Family."

Enjoyed meeting you in Austin! Pre-ordered "The Scorch Trials" today, too!

i will be as close to your tour as possible. but i only live in san diego. just an option, but would you mind donating a few copies of the maze runner and the scorch to our school? the district gave up literally no money, everything is canceled, except for band.the library is running off donations that we manage to find in this bleak, colorless, penniless world. and we still managed to get the maze runner, though only one copy. we could really use a couple good books for the school to read. and by the way, i really want to thank you for choosing me for an arc, considering i know that i am a true duder, and will try to be there, as best i can. and many questions that i have to ask areunawnsered be the scorch, so i have a feeling that despite what people may think, there are more books to the maze runner than oeople thought. or the last book tells the story, the real story, of what happened, who wicked is, and what they were doing to stop the flare from taking any more victims. i really hope the flare isnt rooted inside thomas.

Hey! I just finished The Maze Runner!!! It is the best book I have read in a long time. You had me guessing until the very end and totally caught me off-guard with the twist! I'm getting the whole family to read it! Can't wait to buy The Scorch Trials!
