Hello there, Blogger Nation. I've been working hard on two different projects, keeping busy. But I figured it was high time I got on here and said hi. The following is what I've been up to and what's been on my mind, in no particular order:
1. I had my last event of the year on Saturday, and I want to thank B&N and all the people who came. I was pleasantly surprised by the great turnout - thank you! And here's a picture of Melissa and Matt, who came with the coolest t-shirts ever (btw, I signed those before they put them on!):
2. We've recently had a couple more foreign rights sales, this time in Portugal and Thailand. Every one of these still blows me away, to think of people in another country reading my story in a different language. So awesome!
3. I stumbled across this Maze Runner fanfiction poem on the Internet by Cheerfully Blue. Go check it out: CLICK HERE. There are also a few videos on YouTube that gave me a kick. Find them when you're bored.
4. I'm happy to say that The Scorch Trials has spent its first four weeks on The New York Times Bestseller List. I really want to thank all of you who made this happen. My readers are the coolest on the planet.
5. I'm knee deep in revisions for The Death Cure. Krista Marino (my editor) has reached down my throat and pulled all of my guts out (um, not literally), making this book so much better. I don't know what I would do without her. Probably be an accountant or something.
6. I've also outlined in detail my next project, which is something I can't tell you about. hehe.
7. People keep asking me why they can't find my book at the iBook store. Answer: Random House doesn't yet have an agreement with Apple. If you have an iPad or iPhone, download another ereader app (like Kindle or Nook, for free) and then you can get it.
8. My Atlanta Falcons have the best record in the NFL. Yeah.
9. Anyone out there a fan of The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant by Stephen Donaldson (and the sequel series, The Second Chronicles)? Those were the first fantasy books I ever read, and they have a special place in my heart (and, literally, in my home). The third book in the LAST Chronicles just came out, and I was excited to buy it and place it on the shelf. I'm waiting for the series to be done before I read them. (I know, I'm a hypocrite, expecting all of you to read mine as they come out. haha)
10. I miss LOST. I miss LOST so much. Oh Jack, your face at the very end still haunts me!
11. We're about to begin the greatest six weeks of the year. My birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas (or your preferred holiday), and New Year's. Do you realize I'm going to be 38 years old? Is that when Social Security starts paying? I can't wait to get my senior discount at the theater...
12. I have the cutest, best kids on the planet. I know you think yours are, or that YOU are. But seriously. No. Mine.
13. Is anyone still reading? I'm shocked. If so, leave a comment telling us one thing you're thankful for (channel Thanksgiving dinner) and one thing you're hoping to get (or give) for the holidays. I'll pick a random winner and send out a signed book...
Have a great week!

Dude! I CAN'T wait for Death Cure! ^.^
Ha ^.~ Nice shirts!
Still, you rock!
I'm actually thankful that I discovered blogging! It's opened up a whole new world to me.
And I'm hoping for some good news on submitted queries before year's end!
And I miss LOST, too!
I adore giveaways!!
I am thankful for a loving and supportive family, especially in times of crisis.
I would love to give my mom a new back for Christmas (see above).
Happy Thanksgiving!
Dude, congrats on all the success.
As for gratitude, I'm thankful for keyboards. I can write so much faster and more legibly with them.
I'm thankful this year to finally have listened to those voices in my head that told me they had a story to tell and forced me start writing their adventures. Never imagined a person such as myself attempting to write a book let alone admit to listening to voices in my head.
What I really want to get this holiday season is lots of good books and time to write. Is that so much to ask?
Saturday was cool! I loved those shirts. Glad they were in line ahead of me or I wouldn't have seen them.
Thanks again for all your advice and help. You're really great!
Great post! I'm thankful for my daughter (who really is the cutest thing in the universe. Really.). She's had a great year and I'm so grateful that she's happy and healthy.
I have Scorch Trials sitting on my dresser at home. Can't wait for the semester break to get here so I will have time to read it!!!
I am thankful for my husband! He works so hard and is totally supportive of me. Love him!
I am hoping to get some new books for the holidays and hoping to give my mom airplane tickets so she can fly down and visit all of her kiddos!
Thanks!
seescootread[at]gmail[dot]com
I am thankful for all the wonderful books out there to read....just wish I had more time! What I want this holiday season (other than time) is for my family and friends to all be safe and healthy...and to read all the books I suggest to them.
LOVE Thomas Covenant. Guess I know one more book to go pick up now.
I am thankful for my wonderful family and their support.
And I can't wait for Death Cure!
minas_1989(at)hotmail(dot)com
I wanted to be number eleven, but I don't know how to ensure I get my wish, so I'm just going to comment here. Maybe Eight will be lucky?! (unless someone posts theirs before me)
I'm thankful for the blasted NaNoWriMo thing I've become a slave to. Though I'm far behind (due to flying for a week, during which time I couldn't really write), it's galvanized me. And I'm grateful for my association with with so many wonderful people. And for chocolate, and baby dolphins, and the smell of water in amusement parks, and the pinky color on the mountains at sunset, and for enough sleep that I wake up refreshed, and for Johan Pachelbel, and for accomplishing something hard, and seeing new places. Oh, and Indian food!
I'm very happy for your success JD! Way to go!!!
(I'm 11!!!!) ;-)
Congrats on The Scorch Trials!
I am thankful for the friends that I found this year at college. I did not know I could be surrounded by so many wonderful people who I share so much in common with at one place, but it happened :)
For Christmas, I would really like to be able to watch the fireworks at Disneyland with my mom and my sister on Christmas day. Hopefully this will happen!
I'm thankful for knowledge. Knowledge of the world we live in and knowledge of what's beyond it. I may hate going to classes at 8am Monday through Friday, but I am grateful for the opportunity to be confident and sure in the knowledge I have.
Yay for the next six weeks!
Major congrats on the New York Times list. That's AWESOME.
I am thankful for my famliy who supports my addiction to writing and reading books.
I am hoping for an awesome score on my GRE exam which I plan to take next month and/or a signed copy of the Scorch Trials, since my library only has one copy and I can't afford to buy my own at this time as I'm paying for said GRE exam.
I'm thankful that on my mom's side of the family I can be myself; I'm giving my friend a book autographed by Cassandra Clare
I'm thankful to work in a school library that has both the Maze Runner and Scorch Trials and that I was able to read them first!!
I am thankful for my whole family. I am also thankful for authors because they write so many awesome books!
For Christmas, I'm hoping to get and give tons of books (possibly the maze runner...).
Happy Thanksgiving!
P.S. I miss LOST soooo much! I've tried watching The Event, but it will never live up to LOST!
Oh, I'm hoping for a LOT of gift cards from bookstores to be used throughout the year!
I am thankful for the world of story telling in all of its forms, and for Christmas I want to hear my kid's happy screams and giggles.
Congratuations, you New York Times Bestseller you!!!
First I have to Say I am Loving this series, can not wait for the next book!!
Second I think I would say I'm Thankful for the fantasy worlds I have found these past 7 months while my Fiance has been deployed. They have all kept me Sane. :)
Third I would love to give my mother a vacation she'd never forget, because she never gets to go anywhere.
I'm thankful for my sanity at the moment. I know, sounds silly right. Not if you work in a college counseling center just before the holidays and finals. It is break down central right now. Also, I'm thankful that I get to go and spend the week with my family for Thanksgiving. Since I live 12 hours away this is a big deal. As for one thing I'm hoping for... BOOKS! They are the reason I still have my sanity! ;o)
I'm thankful for books. They have been my refuge when my life was in tatters and my reward when life was pretty good. As always I'm hoping for books for Christmas - a signed copy of Maze Runner or Scorch Trials would be great, except you are never signing anywhere near Colorado. If I can't get books I'll take an iPad. Looking forward to The Death Cure. And I love Thomas Covenant.
I'm thankful for the few fans I have who have bought my books. They're not many, but at least I know that my writing time was not in vain.
For Christmas I want some more pairs of those really warm hand-knit wool socks...but since I'm the only knitter in the house, I have to find time to make them myself. (why doe severyone but me have warm socks?)
A M Jenner
Up north here in Canada we've already had *our* Thanksgiving but regardless I'm very thankful for having a loving family and friends as well as all the oppurtunities I'm given.
But what I really want for the holiays would probably be either another snow globe or an autographed book from James Dashner.
sabrinabertsch[at]hotmail[dot]com
I am excited to give Matched by Ally Condie to my sister-in-law for Christmas. Does that count as an entry? :)
Good to see you are still alive!
oh, I have to do something I am thankful for also....
hmmm, I am thankful that thanksgiving break is coming up! I get to spend more time with my husband!!! yea!
I'm thankful for my mom. She does a lot for me. A lot, a lot, a lot. And I love her for it. :) As for a gift I'm looking forward to giving (sort of), is helping my friends mom buy my friend the Super Junior Super Show 2 DVD. Super Junior is a South Korean pop band and since my friends mom isn't quite sure how to use the internet (hehe, parents are cute :)), I ordered it for her and got myself a copy as well. So yeah. :) You still rock my socks James!
I am grateful for the wonderful happy valley I live in, my religion, and my family and friends. I'm also thankful for all those writers out there whom I've found a little place in my heart for(yes, you're one of them for sure!!! I've been waiting for the Scorch trials for forever, there's a huge waiting list on the library...)who helped me discover the writer within myself. Oh, and i really, really, really would love some new books for my bookshelf, and some stupid, yet funny, Mormon comedies, like the singles ward and the best two years...yeah... :)
I am thankful being literate. Life would be BORING if I couldn't read.
Me... I'm hoping to get either a tenor sax or an electric guitar :)
Dear Mr. Dashner, there are so many things that I'm grateful for. But today I'm grateful for the fact that I am able to enjoy reading in English. You see, 5 years ago I immigrated from Russia I didn't speak any English. I started reading little by little and I learned to love books and love reading.
A couple months ago I move to Arizone and I went to a little store in Scottsdale, AZ and I came across a book called "The Maze Runner" that was signed by the author. I haven't heard anything about the book before and the only reason I bought it is because it was signed by the author :). I finished the book the following morning. I stayed up all night reading. I fell in love with all the characters.
What I really want for Christmas is a signed copy of "The Scorch Trials". I put it on my gift list ideas for my husband. Your books have a special place in my heart and on my book shelf.
I can't wait to read the 3rd book. I'm sure it will be amazing!!! Thank you for sharing your talent with us!!!
Darina Andersen
I'm thankful for my family and for my love of reading; the pages of which has taken me to many new places, and on many adventures, with countless more to come.
Awesome T-shirts. XD
I'm thankful for family, friends, and daily insignificant laughs. :)
Hoping to see some family I haven't seen in a while!
Loving the Scorch Trials so far!!
I'm thankful for eyes that see, fingers that type, and a mind that imagines. I want to find an agent for Christmas. That would be the best gift for me!
I am very thankful for my family...I know you said yours is great...but mine is better :)
And I'm giving my sister a copy of The Maze Runner for Christmas....and I'm not just saying that...I really am giving her a copy...its upstairs waiting to be wrapped :)
I'm thankful for toddlers... they're re-teaching me the joy of reading and the world.
For Christmas I'm just hoping for a good day... no stresses from work that crop up. Just a fantastic day.
Yes, I read to the very end=). Loved all the news. Loved meeting you finally at your last signing. And thanks for the well-wishes =).
One thing I'm thankful for... hmmm... that's really too hard. I'm thankful my husband still wants to be married to me (I LOVE him soo so much...and NO I have the best kids =) and my wish is that he will get a job before Chrismtas. (Times really suck, am I right?)
I'm thankful for the new, non-fat (I'm sure) recipe my friends made me eat. Cranberry Salsa. Pour it over cream cheese and dip the crackers! Num!
I'm hoping to give my hubby an iPad. Oh! Wait! He bought that for himself and told me to hide it.
Did you tell us your favorite food, Dude?
And what do you want to get/give?
I'm thankful for all my new friends at college!
And I'm hoping to get a Gryffindor robe for Christmas (ha!)
I'm thankful for authors like yourself who write books that keep me so thoroughly entertained.
I can't wait to read The Death Cure!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Yay! Dashner Dude is back! It has been a while, James. ^_^
1: Great shirts! Klunk head and shuck face... lol
2: More languages? Yay!
3: That poem was quite good. Poems are being written about your characters! That must feel awesome, huh? ^_~
4: That is so cool! 4 weeks...
5: Death Cure! argh! Must... wait... a year... to read! >,< Can hardly wait for it to come out! ^_~
6: Something new?!?! Wish I could find out what THAT is. 0,o
11: Yes, I remembered that your birthday is very soon. Hurray! ^_^ (I'm only half your age? Wow...)
12: No point in arguing with the Dashner Dude. ^_~
13: I'm thankful for soooo many things! Computers, books, Blogger, virtual friends...
If I hadn't read your 13th Reality series, I never would have become a blogger in the first place. I'm really thankful that I "met" you almost 2 years ago, James. ^_^
Someday I plan on meeting you for real, and thanking you for everything in person. You can bet that it will happen. ^_~
I'm thankful for the Resident Heads of my dorm, because they helped me when I got sick at four o'clock this morning.
Right now, I'm just hoping I'll be well enough to go to class tomorrow. But for Christmas I want cable knit sweaters.
Ouch, my head hurts from reading all of the above posts ^^
(Okay, I admit I skimmed it so forgive me if I repeat anything)
Hey are those shirts for sale? Or custom-made? I'm SO jealous.
Instead of going over all the over-used topics such as being thankful for family, cell phones, pet armidillos...yada yada, I am thankful for school and getting an education (Even if I get a little frustrated. Okay, very frustrated.) I'm also thankful for, of course, technology. Mainly, because I don't think I go a single day without using it in some way or another.
AND BOOKS!
(I thought it deserved it's own line...)
Hmmmmm....i'm not exactly sure what is on my wish-list yet, so i plan on giving my grandma this really cool tote-bag I created in my Tech-Ed class. Yeah, it's awesome.
The six weeks of the last of the year really are the best! Of course, summer is the best, really...eh, well!
I am thankful for having family and friends surrounding me - family rocks!!
I am so excited for the holidays!!! I haven't read this book but I have it on my wishlist and TBR list. I hope to get it soon :)
I am excited to give my younger sister a PB and J Best Friends Necklace. I think its really cute. I also am excited to get an audio book for my mom, she is new to audiobooks and loves them. I can't decide which one though !!!

I am going to say what many others have said before me, and say I'm thankful for stories. Books. And writing. And my awesome family that lets me be addicted to all of those things. And, of course, I'm thankful for THE MAZE RUNNER audiobook on my iPod! =D Congrats on the NYT bestseller!
mdesmondobrienyahoocom
I'm thankful for books. Yep, they're pretty much my life. And, of course, your books. Anyway, you probably shouldn't let me win considering I've pretty much got every book signed.
Hmm... one thing I'm thankful for is going to Comic-Con this year. Wow, that's a nerdy answer. But it's true! I had the BEST TIME EVER there and I can't wait to go next year.
One thing I'm hoping to get for the holidays is a new laptop. My last one fried out and now I'm laptop-less. :'(
I cannot wait for the Death Cure, so I'm thankful that I started reading again so I could discover your books, as well as a ton of others I've been missing!
And I'd really love to get the time and courage to write out the story for the notes I have on scrap paper.
Happy Holidays!
I am thankful for mp3 players. Sounds silly, I know ... but they make so many unpleasant things tolerable (exercise or house cleaning to name two) and are much more handy to carry around than a Walk or Discman.
Hoping to give ... really, just hoping to get some inspiration of something fun to give. I am a "want to be thoughtful gift person" who more often that not is totally stumped unless the person comes right out and tells me. And then I'm bummed it wasn't a surprise. :/
I'm thankful for my friends and family they encourage and support me everyday.
I am hoping to give the best thanksgiving ever this year since it is my first time hosting and cooking the entire thing in my own home!!!! Thanks for being a great author Maze Runner and Scorch Trials were awesome, looking forward to Death Cure and more 13th Reality books!!!
I'm thankful for your books which kept me from dying of bordem when I broke my arm and couldn't do anything. That and my family.
I'm hoping for the Death Cure to come out 10 months early:)
SO thankful for books!! Sometimes you need a great escape.
I'm hoping to get some good news for my husband's PhD applications!! That would rock.
rbcca19@hotmail.com
Haha! James...you make me laugh. I can assure you, I'm still reading! Well, I was anyway...
I think the things that I'm grateful for are my friends and family. My family is...I don't know. Most of them make me laugh and I know they care about me.
And my friends...well, the two I'm thinking about have been there for me when I've needed it the most. They support me in the decisions I make, even if they don't like them (And I can tell when they don't...), they make me laugh when I'm not smiling or just seem sad, they encourage me to do my best, they've helped me realize my potential, and they are the perfect people to look up to. I don't know where I'd be if they hadn't took notice of me last year and brought me under their wings. (They were juniors and I was a freshman.) For that I'm grateful. I'm just sad that they'll be graduating this year so I'm going to do something really amazing for them this year. I just haven't figured it out yet. Any ideas?
And for Christmas, I think I really want the Scorch Trials because money is really tight right now so I haven't had the chance to go get it. (*Gasp* I know, but what do you do?) I'm not totally demanding it, but I'm just hoping. (I'm not really big on asking others to do something or get something for my benefit...)
Dashnog: pidib-a word in place of "shoot!" "dang it!" or colorful words of choice. (You know what I'm talking about... :D)
"Pidib! I forgot my homework on my nightstand and it's due next period!"
I am also excited for Thanksgiving, my birthday, christmas and new years! but i will be 18, yay BINGO!
and I am going to check out this series that you love because I wish to write a novel myself one day, so i hope to get it for christmas! plus some B&N cards
I'm most thankful for my family. Both the people I'm related to and my friends who, while not technically related to me, are my family none the less.
I'm looking forward to giving my friend Matt a set of Bucky Balls - those little magnetic bb type things. When he's at my house, he always looks for them and has to be convinced that he needs to share (and he's 28 so he should be pretty good at the sharing thing). A while back, he made a tie-fighter and he's not a sci-fi geek. I was so proud.
Thanks so much for the stories that you've shared. I've greatly enjoyed both Maze Runner books and am looking forward to The Death Cure. Any idea when it will be available for preorder on Amazon? And thanks for the contest.
Mr. Dashner, i just can say than i love his books
I´m waiting for The scorch trials (spanish edition) to know all, because i read it in english and is Wow. i can´t wait more to The death cure
I'm thankful for my family and the real friends.
I'm hoping the days to come will be better for the world and have many good things to read.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I'm thankful for family and friends that put up with me and my antics. And books of course. :)
I just hope I'll be able to think of something good to give and perhaps get some good books and some games.
Keep up the good work! :)
I'm thankful for my little girl who keeps the magic of the holidays alive in our house. We put our Christmas tree up last weekend (I know. It's too early. We're crazy. But it makes us happy!) and every time my little girl comes downstairs and the lights are on, her jaw drops and she whispers "Wow!" It's the sweetest thing!
I'm thankful for the technology that allows me to have friends all over the world and speak to them regularily.
For Christmas I'll be giving (and getting, I hope) books!
I'm thankful that I have a really awesome husband, that that he is back after being out of town for several days.
I just finished Scorch Trials and I feel like I have just been put through my own mental trial. Anyone else feel that way? Amazing book.
I am thankful for life. The adventure that it is. The time we have to learn, to grow, and to love.
For Christmas I just want to be able to spend time with my girlfriend of two and half years. A year ago we had to start a long distance relationship and it would just be nice to spend some time with her.
(This is the same as my old post I just created a profile)

Nice blog! I like your writing way. I'm doing practice GRE here: masteryourgre.com . I hope it's useful for GRE test takers.
James!
Congrats on all the good news. It was good to see you at the signing. Sorry about the whole cell phone incident.
I'll fight you for the the title of cutest kids...mine totally are. Yours can have runner up.
My conf. word is: wiggnica-I kid you not. It is the NYT Bestseller dance, secretly preformed by every author who finds their book on the NYT Bestseller list. (It gets wiggier each week.)
I just finished the Scorch Trials. It was so good! I can't wait for the Death Cure!
I am thankful for all my freedoms that come with being an American citizen.
I want to get a drawing mannequin, so I can draw humans more accurately.
Your books rock!
I'm thankful for my family, which is supporting me through a rough personal time. Also, my Nook because it is GENIUS, and my puppy dogs because they are warmer than my heater!
Let's see....I'm thankful for getting through the year with the help of my husband and no treatments :)
I am hoping to get a very quiet holiday season with some of my favorite books!
Mr. Dashner,
Im am thankful that you sold the rights in Brazil. Your book is a huge success (considering Brazilian standards).
I've read Maze Runner and Scorch Trials in English, but I'm glad that I'll be able to buy then in portuguese.
Btw, the guy who translated Maze Runner to portuguese did an excellent job.
Bye
I'm thankful for giveaways =)
And I hope to give lots of smiles =)

Congratulations on all your success. Your books are awesome.
I am thankful for more than this space allows me to share.
As far as I am concerned, you can never have or give enough books. Thank you for writing so many that are worthy of giving.
Dude, those shirts are beyond awesome. I'd totally buy some and/or make some! :D Too bad I have no one else to wear them with, though. :P
Wow! I didn't know that the third book will be called The Death Cure!!! That is so exciting!
I'm so very thankful for my family and hope to give to someone in need this Holiday season.
Hello,
I have several things I am grateful for. I am grateful for my daughter Nichole who is 13 years old and still loves to talk to me. She is not embarrassed to be seen with me or tell me she loves me.
I am grateful that my son Kyle is going to graduate from high school this year. We have worked so hard to over come his learning disabilities to get him to this point and it is such a great feeling to finally almost be there.
I am greatful that my oldest son Stephen who became hooked on drugs when he moved out of my home, has finally gotten clean and sober. It is such a blessing to have back the happy young man he was. It has been a hard road for us both - him to over come his addiction and me as a mom to step back and let him pick up the pieces of his life.
I am grateful for our Troops. They do what they do - so I can do what I want to do. My brother Charlie is in Kuwait right now.
I am grateful for my friends and my 8 younger siblings, I love them all dearly.
I can't wait until Christmas, it is my favorite holiday. I will be giving my daughter a computer. My oldest son will get some new items for the house he just rented. My son Kyle wants some new clothes.
I am hoping that I get an iPad. I love Apple products but have never bought one for myself or had one given to me. I used to work at a Mac store and got to see all the stuff - but just couldn't afford to get it. But maybe santa in the form of my boyfriend will get me one!
One of those projects better be The 13th Reality Book 4, or I'm gonna...well, I don't know what I'll do then, but you better be writing it!
I'm thankful for my family. Always, always thankful for them.
And as for Christmas, I hope to give and receive books, of course! Hmm, and maybe an eReader.
I'm thankful for books! (Especially yours!)
:-) You rock! I can't wait for the Death Cure and the secret project you're working on!
I'm really thankful for The Scorch Trials, and I REALLY want The Death Cure for Christmas!!!! :D :P
I am thankful for my the way I live my life and my family. Some people don't get a chance to live their life well and do what they want and I'm lucky that I do! My family is the best.
I would like to give my best friend a lot of books because she's always borrowing mine and I think she should have a bookshelf full of books.
I can't wait for The Death Cure!!
I am thankful for the talents that others share with me, most especially storytellers...I love to read, and enjoy a good movie/tv show as well. I am thankful for my supportive friends and my wonderful family.
For Christmas, I want tickets on the Disney Panama Canal Cruise in January. I am terrified to go on a cruise, but the thought of 15 days without having to cook dinner and do carpool and laundry and dishes and everything else that I have in a day, makes me think that if I were to die on the cruise, at least I would have died happy!
When I am done fantasizing, what really want is books for Christmas, and maybe want a kindle/nook, but still not sure about that.
Hope you have a great holiday season...and 38 is not so bad. I have been living it for 4 months now.
I'm thankful to discover magic does exist--maybe not in the way people think. Last year was crazy, rushed, sometimes frightening, and I can hardly believe the turnaround I've had.
I'm humble and lucky to be where I'm at this year, and I have so many people who believed things could only get better for me. I'm thankful for the fact that things did get better, but maybe more for the people who conjured up their own brand of magic to help me believe it.
I am thankful for writers who keep the world of imagination open to my children.
AWESOME T-SHIRTS!!!HAHA if a movie is made, i'm making one of those!! hahahahahaha
i'm counting down the days to the death cure. unfortunately i'm behind. i'm only half way through the maze runner!
I'm thankful for books that allow me to escape my reality and live in a different world!
I am thankful for authors who blog, and I am hopeful to give a signed copy of your book to our Madison Middle School Library so all our 920 students can see, read and enjoy this book! And, btw, the "Maze Runner" was the first book I downloaded to our 5 Sony eReaders!!!
Please pick us! Thanks a bunch and keep on bloggin!
I am thankful for books and more specifically at the moment Harry Potter. I have been a fan for over ten years. The great thing about books they never get old only the readers change, so some books can last a lifetime. These books and movies will always be in our hearts.
I live in NYC and will not be able to spend Thanksgiving with my family. I just hope everyone realizes how lucky we are to live in America and have our families a phone call away.
I am thankful for my husband. I love him more each and every day. I cannot wait to give everyone presents this year. It's so much more fun for me than receiving.
I am thankful for that crazy mind of yours that has created The Maze Runner and The Scorch Trials.
I am, however, not thankful for the fact that I have to wait for a year until I can read The Death Cure.
:)
Way to leave me hanging. Just sayin'.
I don't know if you read these comments or not but if you do I have just a few things to say.
First off, I'm an avid reader and I just discovered your books. I really enjoyed them. Your characters gripped me and made me feel a connection for each one, your story line was so amazing I could never put the book down.
And I think have at least ten times more respect for you for including Lost in a blog post. Jack's face haunts me too. Best.Show.Ever.
And if I'm posting this I might as well join in on some contest fun. I'm thankful for the situation I'm in. I go to the best highschool, Booker T. Washington(it's a performing arts highschool), I like my home, my friends, and I have an ipod filled with music. What's better than that?
What do I want. . . . I'm not quite sure, I want a few more Orson Scott Card books. And yours of course! Actually, I think I'll just wish to read the 3rd book to the Maze Runner early.
Stumbled on Maze Runner by accident. Ordered Scorch Trials for my library and just finished reading it -- I can't wait for book 3!
I'm thankful for great books to read!
Keep on writing!
Hey! My friend is Cheerfully Blue on fanfiction.net. The one who wrote the poem.
I am thankful for music. Especially Christmas music at this time of year. I'm looking forward to giving my family some photobooks this Christmas season.
Thanks for the opportunity.
Looking forward to #3.
Thanks!
Still eagerly awaiting "The Scorch Trials". I hate that Junior Library Guild will not be sending it for anotheer 2-3 weeks. Will be reading it ASAP when the box!!
Thanks for the fun and intriging books. I ran (hahhaa) across the Maze Runner in the store two weeks ago and just finished reading it. Scorch is next, but sadly will die waiting for the third book - waiting till next year is so mean.
I am very thakful for my husband. He has been by my side through thick and thin. He is my life.
I would love to give my husband the gift of debt free life.
So what was the first book I put on my brand new Nook? Oh that's right, The Scorch Trials.
With all of my other projects going on right now, I didn't know if I'd have time to start reading it, but it only took a couple of Nook pages and I'm hooked. So well done, really pulls you in.
Take it easy, dude.
Chris
I am thankful to have 2 healthy little boys, a wonderful loving supportive husband, and candycane ice cream (only comes out around Christmas).
I need a new winter coat so if I can get that for my birthday (Dec 7) or Christmas, I would be happy.
Have a great Thanksgiving - I miss celebrating Thanksgiving in November. In Canada it's in October - when you guys celebrate Columbus Day.
Peace, Love and Prosperity!! :)
Umm... So odds are you won't believe me buuuuuutttttttt I was the one who wrote the poem and
I was SO excited that you actually read it!!!!! Me and my friends were freaking out when I saw a comment on it that said that you had posted it on your blog, which really surprised me because I didn't think authors ever read fanfiction. Anyway, I'm glad you thought it was cool enough to mention (I was forced into writing this by my friends) and I love the books and I can't wait for the Death Cure. Love your characters, especially Thomas, Newt, and Mino (They're so funny!), and if I had to pick something to be thankful for it's the fact that my friends are okay and not depressed or hazards to themselves. I had a real scare a few days ago and now I'm just thankful that their all alright and will still be with me for a very long time.
Im thankful for my family, Steve Jobs, Coca Cola, old school Hubba Bubba, He-Man (and Skeletor), and the Maze Runner Trilogy. Aaarrgghh... the wait for Death Cure begins!
Yeah consistent NYT bestseller! Go Dash... Lyrics of the day? Dashnog? are these lost, treasured moments? Keep it real Dash. Show em what your made of :o) and the college ball.... forgot your team already... Georgia??
I miss Lost too! I've tried to fill the void with obssessingly watching Criminal Minds, but It's just not the same. . .
I am thankful for my family (cheesy, I know) but I love them and they are all awesome. Also for my best friend, DeNesha. She is so talented and supportive, I love her and I'm glad to have her as a friend.
For Christmas this year I would loooooooooooove a Kindle. I've been asking my mom for one for a long time and I reeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllly want one.
I am thankful for teaching at an awesome school with people I enjoy being around every day.
For Christmas, I hope to get lots of gift cards for buying books for my Nook :)
I'm thankful for authors, because I'm a serious bookaholic and there's just about a million amazing books out there I want to read.
I can't wait to give my little brother his Christmas present-it's a Diary of Wimpy Kid book, since it's his favorite series.
laurabt@cox.net
I am so thankful for a great family and the blessing of living in America. I'm hoping for some good music for Christmas.
I'm most thankful for my awesome family and friends.Though the newest thing I'm thankful for is my new job at the library most of all, its my dream job (other than being published) and I'm loving it, no due dates rock!!
These holidays I'm looking forward to my birthday as well (I wonder if we have the same birthday...)! Its one of the reasons I love thanksgiving because my birthday is always one of the days around it!
I love all the yummy food but most of all I love seeing my extended family Thanksgiving and Christmas are the only days I get to see them so its great for me.
The gifts I'm most excited about giving this year are some Doctor Who Sonic Screwdrivers to my friends who are into the series as well, I just got my own and cant wait to give them out as well. There a ton of fun to play with and great for dw geeks like me. ^.^
Yhay for holidays and all the fun they bring!
I'm very thankful for those little plastic fish full of soy sauce, but I'm most thankful for The Maze Runner, because it has become my secret weapon in my Language Arts class. I have now hooked over eighty 8th graders - four classes -on reading, using this fantastic book. Parents tell me their kids won't go to bed - they have to stay up reading it. Some kids who claimed they hated reading have read it in two nights! My students are arguing over whether WICKED is good or bad, and about what's really going on. They are really excited about all the writing we're going to do, related to the TMR, over the next few weeks! Can't wait for the day we go into role.
Lets see....I'm thankful for SO much. My wonderful husband, and two healthy children, mostly. I have a roof over my head and food whenever I want it. Right there, that makes me one of the luckiest people in the world.
As far as gifts go, my husband and I decided not to give each other gifts this year, and instead we got a family membership to the YMCA. No I can exercise and take yoga because they have a babysitting service, and then I can take them swimming in the huge pool. It's been wonderful so far.
I'm also thankful that your book came out and that it did NOT disappoint. Many sequels do, but this one had me staying up late to get to the end. Excellent work, and I can't wait for the last book!
I'm thankful for the friends who are still with me now that I'm five states away. They. Are. The. Best. Ever.
I really want to visit those awesome friends this winter, but because that is impractical, I want a new camera.
Thank you so much for this series James! I'm a middle school librarian and have been spreading the MR love among my students. :)
I am so thankful for my son. We've had some ups and downs with him this year, but they are all worth it!
For Christmas, I would love to get Death Cure! Since that is not possible, I want a Nook.
I'm thankful that I have a library nearby so that I can read books even though I'm BROKE.
For the holidays I hope to get some new books that I haven't read.
Im thankful for Gods love for me
chaarmedone1512@aol.com
I'm thankful that after 37 years, I still love teaching middle school students and seeing them begin to enjoy reading! The Maze Runner and the Scorch Trials have lit a fire in my boys!
Giveaway!
I'm thankful for authors with the ability to write really, really good books that are impossible to put down.
I'm hoping to get (and give) some really, really good books that are impossible to put down.
I'm not sure if you are still doing this contest since I'm about a week late, but with school and the holidays, to say the least its been hectic.
I'm so thankful for my family and friends, they mean the world to me.
And for christmas, I want the one thing I, and no one can have, Lost to come back in January. I'm still upset about it ending and half in denial that its really over.
my life is really incomplete without it.
The closest I can get is the complete series on dvd. I already have all the seasons but i want the collectors edition with the game and all.
PS- Can't wait for the third book!!
I love that poem!! and I my sister LOVES Lost! :) I can NOT wait to read The Death Cure!!!
Happy late birthday and early christmas What do YOU want?
I am thankful for my family, music, friends and books!!
For christmas I would like tons of new novals, and a camera to take amazing pictures.
I would like to GIVE everything. I want to help those people who are not as fortunate as us by donating food, clothing, toys etc. It's not about the presents (Well not FULLY haha) right?

Giveaways, huzzah!
I'm thankful for a really amazing family (two really fun brothers and parents that are too awesome for words) and a couple of nice friends.
I'm also really thankful for the world of literature. Without it, I don't think I'd have much of an identity.
All I want for Christmas is a nice heartwarming letter and a mug of hot chocolate over a game of chess with my brother. Oh, and I hope I get some cool books to read over the Christmas break, too. The usual.
Those shirts, by the way, may as well be the epitome of awesome.
Have a great Christmas!
mjwrites(at)yahoo(dot)com if you need to contact me, which I'm hoping you do! :D
Hey first of all I'm so sorry you have to read all of these comments but im glad your doing this and i hope mine stands out to you.
Second of all I love your book and i deperately want your signature no matter what! My friends would freak!
O.K. heres what I'm thankful for. I'm thankful for feelings. I know this souds cheesy but I mean seriously without them we'd all just be blobs. It's hard to put into words but I'm sure you could do it! ;)
For the holidays I'm going to give my family a great time. Usually me and my brother or sister fight non stop but this year I'm going to seriously try not fight with them and I'm going to stick to what I'm saying.
O.K. I think thats enough. I really hope you read this comment and I have to say I cant wait for the next book to come out.
I'm just going to say it. I really want a sighned book(by you of course!) Please pick me.
I'm done begging. One last thing; you rock and honestly your books are better than Suzanne Collins
(dont tell her i said that but we all know its true)
Thanks for reading this comment if you still are.
I'm thankful for the opportunity to win a signed book.
I will be thankful once I pass the "are you a robot" test... I've failed three times now... I can't tell if that is lo or b :)
I am thankful for my wonderful husband and daughter...oh yeah and Fringe ;).
I really would love a B&N gift card for Christmas to continue growing my library.
I totally agree to Rafael! The sales of the book in Brazil are huge for our standarts (and the the translation was just perfect, which is not easy to find...)
I MISS LOST TOO!!!!!!!!
hahahhahahahahaaah
Man, I'm dying to purchase the Scorch, it'll take some time to get here...AND WHY THE HELL DOES THE DEATH CURE HAS TO TAKE SO LONG TO COME OUT? What if i die before it does???hahhaha
Something i'm thankfull for... My characters, good books and, of course, my family (can't pick one)
Somehing I'd like to give...anything people want more than need.
that's all
oh, and again, thanks for writing, Mr. Dashner, YOU ARE AMAZING
(even if you don't read it^^)
I'm thankful for books, especially the ones you've written. I've spent the last few weeks reading The Maze Runner and The Scorch Trials and they're absolutely amazing.
I'm really hoping I can get a new TV for Christmas, because it would make things a lot simpler for my computer and Xbox 360.
I'm thankful that I had Scorch Trials to read over the Thanksgiving holiday because as much as I love my family it was nice to have a little escape. I'm also thankful that I have some cool new words to say and they don't know what I'm talking about-silly shanks:)
I'm grateful for my wonderful husband and little girl. They mean the world to me. I am also grateful for the world of books. I love getting attached to characters and their stories, and I'm looking forward to sharing some of my favorite books with my kid when she gets older.
I am super stoked to give my in-laws an awesome present. I collected all of my MIL's recipes and compiled them into a book for everyone. I'm so excited to give it to them. My husband is especially excited for me to make some of his favorite childhood meals.
I'm thankful for you and your fantastic writing (I swear, I'm not trying to suck up). Unfortunately, you fall just behind my husband and 3 year old. They rock. I'm hoping to get a digital camera for Christmas!
Hi James Dashner!
To answer your question, I'm thankful for the driving force behind me, my parents, who have helped shape me into the person I am today. They cheered me on to start my book review blog, From The Bookshelf of T.B., nudged me in the direction to seriously think about writing a book of my own (which I have started to roughly construct), and even got me to post up my first ebay listing, no joke.
It is them that I will always be thankful for and can't thank enough. I love you mom and dad!
If you are interested in my blog, From The Bookshelf of T.B., you can reach it at www.ftbotbblog.blogspot.com, or click my name from this comment. It is a blog that reviews books for young readers, such as myself, as I am in eighth grade. Please check it out!
Oh, and James Dashner, I have actually reviewed The Maze Runner on my blog, and plan to review The Scorch Trials soon. I just finished The Scorch Trials and I am left flabbergasted.
-This is T.B. with Another Book Back on the Shelf...
Until Next Time, Keep Reading!
I CAN'T WAIT FOR DEATH CURE TO COME OUT!! I'm also really inspired by the shirts! I might make one myself.
thankful for ink... without it my world would be like a black hole... or a vacuum... it would suck... haha yeah, a real knee-slapper, eh?
and no I'm not really Canadian....
and I'm grateful my family and friends and all that good stuff you're supposed to be thankful for too....
I want to get the news that Hot Topic picks up The Maze Runner series to sell merchandise... kinda like it did with The Hunger Games... That would rock my face off... OK, maybe not my whole face, but at least an eyebrow or nostril or something.... :P
OR The Death Cure would suffice for like the BEST PRESENT EVER!!!!!!!!! only, it wouldn't be near as obnoxious as that... but whatever.. :D
why torture us with such a long wait?! I'm so sad and upset right now. I wish it would come out right now.
I just came across your blog and I'm not even surprised to see you like LOST. I wrote in my review of The Maze Runner that it reminded me of LOST. All the torture and lack of answers! If I see the numbers 4815162342 in The Death Cure I'm running in the opposite direction. I've been wronged before and I still haven't forgiven Damon Lindelof.
Just kidding :) Keep up the great work, man.
this comment mat be a little late , but I'm thankful that our world is run by television just yet , and that we still have Books ( of the James dashner variety ) to enjoy ! (:
