After much anxious waiting and staring at the phone for weeks, I was hit with a double whammy yesterday. The little "Teaser Chapter" booklets came in the morning, and the Advance Reader Copies (ARCs) came in the afternoon. So basically, I spent all morning and afternoon staring at the booklet in awe, then spent all evening staring at the ARC in awe (after my kids and I went around begging people for free candy).
And my wife gave out the booklets to trick or treaters. How's that for shameless promotion? (Actually, we only gave them to people we know really well, and yes, we did give candy, too.)
btw, in the "Dashners Are Original" department, my 4 kids dressed up as Dracula, Spiderman, Cinderella, and a pirate. I guess we're only creative when writing stories.
Because of the contest a few weeks ago, some of you will be receiving ARCs from my publisher. However, a few of you never gave me your address to pass on. Speak now or forever hold your peace:
Marcia Mickelson
G. Parker
Don (15 minutes of delusion blog)
Lisa (time remembers blog)
Shaunda Wenger
Sarah Kiesche (uh, sis, I'm not sure I have your new address so email it to me, please)
Tristi "Badaboom Badabing" Pinkston
You may have indeed sent it, but if you did, I lost it. Please email me through my website.
And, of course, if my wonderful mom is reading, you'll be getting a copy, too.
I'm really curious on when and where the booklets and/or ARCs will show up in bookstores, at schools, etc. Please, if any of you guys ever spot one, please let us know in the comments.
Thanks, and Happy November!

If they hold their peace, can I have their copy? Pretty please!
Sounds like a lovely Halloween!
It is fun to find your blog and see your success as an author. My 4 little ones were very original-- clown, witch, dorothy, and scarecrow. By the end of the night, Trent was the one wearing the witches hat and the scarecrow collar. He looked pretty silly. Good Luck!
Kim, it's a deal. Send me your address.
Jamie? As in Jamie Handy? Glad you found us! I'll have to peruse your blog and see how much those little chimichangas have grown up.
Ah, BYU. Those were the good ole days.
Can I second Kim's request? If not, I'll start haunting my local Deseret Book. (I know the manager and he'll find me the ARC if he hs it.)
James,
CONGRATS! Lisa brought one of the ARCs home last night, and I have to say, it looks fantastic! The best part is, the finished product will look even better with the embossed letters, illustrations inside, etc.
FYI, Lisa said that a good friend of mine is being called in to audition to do voice for the audio book. Things are going full steam ahead for you! Happy sailing!
As for Halloween, with my laryngitis in full swing, I went as a U of U fan (complete with Fiesta Bowl Jacket) who lost his voice while watching Utah beat BYU in Provo this year. It was a sports fan costume with a time travel twist. GO UTES! :)
Scoops out!

awesome! I'm very excited to be getting my ARC soon... it'll be my first ARC ever. :)
VERY cool beans! So remind me--were they sending them to B&N stores, Wal Marts or what? I'll be keeping a look-out!
Yeah! Finally I will get something in my mailbox besides rejection letters and bills. :)
Hey, I gave some of your teaser chapters to my bookgroup today.
Thanks for the ARC and booklets, Dash. My son's still in 7th heaven over seeing his name in there.
SO exciting.
FYI, the first question out of my 8-year-old's mouth when I got home from the World Fantasy Convention last night was, "Was James Dashner there?"
I had to console her with an autographed Bruce Coville.
Sooooo...when will they be arriving?
james the neighbor across the street from me is a librarian. yeah so she got a ARC and she let me read it. Anyway I loved it. Can you tell me your email address. I checked like a million websites and I couldn't find it anywhere.
