The 13th Reality Book 2 starting to show up

I think as of yesterday Amazon finally has the books and has begun shipping. This also means you can now review the book. So once you read it, I'd really appreciate a review over there!

I'd really like to hear from people all over the country. Tell us when you spot or buy the book in Borders, Barnes & Noble, Books a Million, Waldenbooks, etc. and all the very fine independent bookstores out there. It really should be showing up very soon if not already.

And if they don't have it, rough 'em up! (Politely, of course, without any permanent damage. Well, noticeable permanent damage. Well, just don't mess with anything inside their skulls. Particularly the brain.)

Word count update: THE MAZE RUNNER sequel: 15,089 words. THE 13TH REALITY BOOK 3: 51,146 words.

LexiconLuvr, maybe it's not me, maybe it's your ability to project thoughts into other people!

Good to see ya here, Amber. May all your agent answers come to you in a magical dream.

Uh, let me clarify something for my sweet and beautiful wife. These dinners I'm having are with GROUPS of people. What can I say? I like to eat, and I like to talk.

Karen, I hope you're right. Maybe this fall or next spring we'll hit the List.

Melinda? Bountiful? Wow. It must be everywhere then.

THANKS to everyone who is ordering and buying my book. I really appreciate it.

Arlene, good point. I'm sure numberonedashnerfan is holding back a little. She's probably fuming.

Anonymous said...

I am not fuming....I was originally going to let it slide but Arlene had written “What? You go to dinner with other people? I'm sure numberonedashnerfan will have something to say about this" so had had to say something...lol....I’m so not blushing ....did you see the post I made on this thingy after you made your last post James....

And yes I realize your dinners are in groups and its to kind of promote your book and have fun....your wife is a lucky gal to have be married to you...bountiful is actually more common of a place the eagle mountain in my book ….then again that’s where I used to take dance before we moved…..I feel like a dork so I will just stop typing before I type something that will get me in trouble/lose my chance at an Arc if you get to give away some to your adoring fans...I so did not mean to take over the news item so sorry about that.....tiki tiki

Anonymous said...

Hey also if you decide to go with the forum thing along with the blog you can block people from the forum so they cant be a dork like me.....

I'd be down with doing a forum.

I got to read an ARC of 13th Reality 2 about two months ago (perks of working at the bookstore ;-) and I was very impressed at how it built on the previous book. There was a lot more action from start to finish, and the story moved itself very smoothly. One thing I'm tired of in YA and Middle Reader lit is the blatant derivative tendencies that some authors have, thinking that their story is good because they ripped off Rowling or Tolkien. You've managed to avoid that and create something very worth reading at the same time.

Can't wait for MazeRunner!

So I was going to post no matter what because my conf word is 'chwane' and who could pass up a chance like that? "CH-WANE" just say it once out loud if you don't get what I'm saying.

BUT after reading the many and varied posts I would have to put in my two cents regardless of my conf word.
#1Dfan--Eagle Mountain is a hopping metropolis and I am quite sure that if we had a bookstore it would be one of the first in the county to carry Dashner's book. Bountiful--shmountiful. (JK)

Arlene--I know exactly what you mean about the whole dinner thing.

Mrs. Dashner we can vouche for the group comment. There were like 20 of us at the LTUE dinner. While Dashner shameless pimps his books on all occasions, he manages to remain a gentleman and mention you often as well.

James, nice to see the word counts on your blog. Somehow it is so inspiring to us lowly aspiring authors. Keep up the good work.

The Scarlet Tart said...

Mrs. Dashner- I wish I could shake your hand. It must be a little like living with an extra, over grown child. But in all seriousness...no, I can't be serious. If he's anything like my husband, you've had to spend years training him.

I'll keep a sharp eye out.

I alreaddy have the book but where I live it come out on the 4th and the library is ordering book 2 ... I feel all ganged up on so please do not tease me anymore .. If working at a book store means getting arcs then so much for working at build a bear and getting paid in bears for my first job I will work at a bookstore insstead...

Awwwww! numberonedashnerfan, we're not ganging up on you, and I'm really sorry if I hurt your feelings. On the contrary, we think you're really sweet and incredibly sincere. I'm sure James wouldn't stand for it if anyone was down right mean here. So don't worry yourself. You're among friends.

Becky said...

I'm so jealous of Graham. I'm a manager of a bookstore and we didn't get an ARC. However, we did get your book last week. I'm so excited to read it. I'm pretty sure all the Seagull Books have your book in as well, so that would be in Idaho, California, Arizona, and all through Utah.

Anonymous said...

I forgive you guys and gals....except Donna she made fun of my hometown......ok her too....

The Scarlet Tart said...

Let the teasing recommence!

Anonymous said...

Arlene, lets not let it begin again ....this is like my 9th or tenth post which makes me feel guilty...so I am not going to say anything anymore....Dashner I suggest you keep the blog and have the forum so us fans can talk and not take away from the announcement like this....sorry...tiki tiki

Sorry to be quiet - I was busy busy yesterday in Logan. The signing last night was big and great. And the schools, awesome as usual.

#1, don't ever feel bad about commenting! Just treat this like a forum all you want for now and comment away. That's what this part is for - people to talk back and forth, ask questions, etc.

Personally, I've loved the big increase in comments, teasing, jokes, yada yada. Keep it up and don't apologize, k?

We'll test the forum idea soon.

Hope everyone's having a great weekend and got their chores done!

okies will do except for the chores part cleaning my room doest sound as fun as hanging out on here...orchastra festival is on tuesday.......

Random question what happened to the book "The World Sifter" that you were going to write according to this place.....

Realy random question time... do you think should I where a formal dress or a not so formal dress to orchastra festival...do you have any new news Dashner.... when I call you Dashner does it make you feel old

Sarah k I love your photos

James Dashner said...

Sarah, aka sis, glad to see you on here again! And thanks for doing that, I love it. Maybe that's better to use than my personal page.

#1, sadly, I don't think THE WORLD SIFTER will ever be read by anyone but me. Sorry. And go with the formal.

Anonymous said...

How sad did you not finish it or is it just not one of the greatest books ever written...okies thanks for your input...

Anonymous said...

#1 fan--I'd go with the not formal dress. Something nice but not fancy. People who go to orchestra festivals in formal attire are just setting themselves up as the butt of everyone's trying-to-keep-nerves-under-control jokes about how they think they're better than everyone else. Even though you probably ARE better than anyone else, you don't want to look like you know it! :)
Oh, and don't let YOUR nerves frazzle...you'll be the toast of the event!

Anonymous said...

Although I don’t think you could write a horrid book that no one wouldn’t want to read especially if your names on it...

James Dashner said...

THE WORLD SIFTER isn't that bad. It's just too similar to some other stuff I've written. It wouldn't work the way it is. Maybe some day I'll give it an overhaul.

Anonymous said...

Tis okay...you don’t have to give an over hall all because of me...it is probly good so giving it an over hall might ruin the book...idk..... I still don’t now what dress I should wear....I know that for a fact I’m not the best one there ...(I’m first violin 4th chair...at least for now...in my school orchestra...and I have been playing the violin for 3 years and I’m only on Suzuki book 2....song 1and 2....I’m sure you care).........

O hai!!

I read your blog bruthah, just through google reader. Bad Sister!

And thanks Anonymous!

And while I love and adore Facebook bruthah, you're going to have to revamp jamesdashner.com to a personal site once Maze Runner comes out. Not everyone has Facebook :D :D :D

and to #1 fan: Everyone calls me Dashner lol...it was a badge of honor in school!! Some people don't know my actual name, they only know DASHNER!!!!! It's a good name to have lol

And bro, I'm re-reading #2 so I can put up a better review than my initial text to you: WOW!! WOW WOW WOWWWWWW!! lol!

When am I coming to play in Utah?

Anonymous said...

Wonderful book! The plot is excellent and the characters were just extraodinary. Its not a really known book, but its sure to catch on. Setting is nice and I really like how you set up the bad guys and their personalities(like Mistress Jane, a bad guy that likes yellow even the castle is, truly unique).I would rate this book as 10 out of 10. To me your book is practicly better than Harry Potter(which i read the whole series). You and Cristopher Paolini are my favorite authors.Hope the third book comes out soon.

Sincerely, a reader
Z.A.A
