Russian Rights for MAZE RUNNER Sold

I knew about this last week, but I wanted to wait until the BEA hubbub was over to announce it to you guys. This is my first ever foreign rights sale! And somehow it seems extra cool that it went to Russia. Why? I don't know. I mean, come on. It's Russia. That's just cool.

бегун лабиринта

According to rustran.com, that's how you say "The Maze Runner" in Russian. Any experts out there wanna verify that? Of course, I can't even read it, much less say it.

But I can just imagine Ivan Drago from ROCKY IV yelling it at me with spit flying out of his mouth and sweat off his face right before he pummels me with his inhuman gargantuan steroid-jacked fist. Of course, after he read the book, we'd become fast friends and implement world peace just like he and Rocky did.

In other news, CLICK HERE for a way awesome review posted by a real-life bonafide librarian who has never met me or my mother and to whom I owe no money. (Warning, it kinda has some spoilers.)

Only four months till release date!!!
UPDATE: I also wanted to say thanks to Lauren Abramo, the international rights agent at Dystel & Goderich, for making the Russian sale happen. Way to go!!!

I can't think of anything much cooler than Russia, foreign language wise. Congrats!

Kharashow! OK, that's my version of 'good job' in Russian. (At least it's spelled how it's pronounced.) I don't have the Cyrillic alphabet on my computer, otherwise I would be sending you all types of messages! (FYI, I am a total nerd. I studied Russian in high school and at the Y.) Since my German is much better than my Russian, I'm not even going to question if you have The Maze Runner spelled correctly. I trust you.

That is soooooooooo exciting! Keep up the good work, Mr. Georgia.

Paka!

Oh, the second word is labyrinth!! (labyrenta) Will the cover look the same? When you know, PLEASE post it. With that alphabet and your amazing cover, wouldn't that look awesome in a picture frame?!!

Ooh. Labyrenta? That's way awesome!

Jacoby, you pirst. (Check the dictionary. ^,^)

Cool that the Maze Runner will be in Russian! Congrats, James!

That review was good, though it did spoil the story a bit. It really makes me want to read it now!

I love that you said that part about Ivan Drago! Ah...kindred souls.

Congrats on the foreign rights sale! Maze Runner's going to rock 'round the planet!

BTW, did you see that Graham got his hands on an ARC? Yeah...I wanted to kill him a little bit. Love you Graham!

WARNING DUMB QUESTION ALERT, WARNING....

Will you be bringing any Maze Runners to the BYU Writer's C?

Books...not real...runners, or anything...just...just the books.

Or do I have to wait for four months?

Okay, you may now turn off your warning machine. Thank you.

Where's the love, LT?!

Hey James, I'm havin' lunch with a publisher next week! I'm gonna be yipping at your heels here pretty quick...give it about five years, hahahaha

Man I'm way psyched for MAZE! What a ride!

James--I just finished it! WOW! I wish I could give it more that 5 STARS on Good Reads! I can't wait to talk to you about it tonight...by the way, what's the dress code for this thing?

It's been a couple weeks since I checked your blog. I love the cover, NY sounded like a lot of fun, and you need to come to Cleveland sometime. Kids here need to read more and there are tons of schools and libraries you could visit.

Angie! So glad you liked it! And it was awesome having you at the RH dinner tonight.

Carolyn, I don't think there will be any copies at the conference. Sorry!

That's fine, I'll tell my son to start saving his pennies. It's nice to have a built in babysitter. =)

I don't know how to spell in Russian, but it sounds like "Atleechna!" Which should hopefully mean "great!" or something. Unless it means something totally inappropriate and you'll have to ban me from the blog now.
