Happy Anniversary Dude, Day 5

Thanks for all the heartfelt comments yesterday! Goodness gracious alive mercy may, you are an inspired people! I really enjoyed reading them all.

And yesterday's winner is... Q! Yes, it is a letter of the alphabet, and the name of some dude on Star Trek, but it is also our fourth winner of an advanced copy of THE HUNT FOR DARK INFINITY. Congrats!

Today is the final day of the anniversary contest. I'll announce the daily winner tomorrow, and then the Grand Prize winner on Monday. Not a lot of people visit blogs on Sunday, at least from what I've noticed. For the rules, CLICK HERE.

Okay, I'll make it real easy on you today. In fact, I'm very curious to see what this brings about: I want you to comment on something. That's it.

Have at it!

Love is not one-sided, and at times you don't realize that you loved something or someone until they've given their all for you.

This can be applied to relationships, but mostly it's something I learned last year when I wrecked my car in a really bad accident but walked away without a single injury. I really loved that car, and it loved me back, taking the ultimate "hit for the team".

Later, when I replaced it with the same kind of car and it broke down, I didn't feel bad about paying lots of money to fix it; I was just glad to have her back.

Sigh. One of these days I'll actually get married to a girl.

#1 opted to walk with #2 to school this morning instead of riding her bike and leaving #2 behind in tears --I was so proud of her! But as soon as they left, I walked into the kitchen to see #3 harrassing #4 because #4 dumped cereal all over the floor.

And thank goodness for cartoons on PBS.

And I already need a nap, even though it's not even 9AM. Figures.

I comment on the fact that there are a ton of little things in life to be happy about...two of my favorites are chocolate syrup and sidewalk chalk.

My boys can go from playing happily to kicking, hitting, screaming and tackling each other faster than lightening strikes. Why can't I do ANYTHING that quickly?

I'm tired, because my little girl will not sleep at night.

This summer had a movie sequel I had looked forward to until I learned about a death in connection with it. The movie came out, blew some box office record, and was loved by critics and popular opinion alike. I saw it, and I admit it was spectacular. But it bugged me. Whether it’s real or not, I don’t want to revel in torture and death like some Roman satiating their bloodlust over gladiators. And if I wanted to “explore dark issues”, I’d read about the Holocaust or something. I go to the movies to be entertained, not to feel like Lady Macbeth with bloodstains on her hands.

Sorry, I’ve been meaning to post this online somewhere for a while, and you did open it up. . . .

Have a great weekend.

O.K. a comment. My Father never grew up, we call him a five year old because of his humor, and how he acts sometimes.

Oh this is fun, just some random comment.
Okay--I hate it when little kids pick their nose and eat their boogers. It makes me want to throw up. So my children know what the ultimate sin is and they do refrain. When I taught my daughter's group preschool last year, I had to educate the other booger-eaters about my non-booger eating household.
Seriously, I asked them if they would like me to throw up or if they could use a kleenex. They quickly came around to the kleenex idea.
Oh and another comment on a totally different topic. I am less than 3 weeks away from giving birth to #3!!! And I even shaved my legs yesterday--don't think that's a feat? Find a really pregnant woman and ask her--or maybe don't because she might just deck you. :)

I always say I will accomplish Something today, but Something is elusive. I think he is the introverted brother of the extroverted Nothing. Nothing is always around. Ask the kids what they are hiding behind their backs, "Nothing." Ask kids what they learned at school today, Nothing." Ask my husband what he wants for his birthday, "Nothing." I'm still waiting for Something to stand up and be heard.

Today my son turns 19 years old I really wish he would stop growing up. And all the rest of my kids can stop it too if they'd like.

Grandchildren are some of the most wonderful beings in the universe. And I'd love to read them your Dark Infinity ARC. They might not enjoy it as much as I will (they're 9 mos, 18 mos, 2 1/2 yrs) but I don't think that's too soon to get them into fantasy, do you?

I am commenting on how it is really annoying to go to a place where there is a three hour difference and you have to wake up at 9:00 the next morning to go to a Bar-Mitzvah when it feels like 6:00 to you.

I AM TIRED. Still, that doesn't stop me from wanting to win an ARC.

I am really sad that Stephanie Meyer's copy of Midnight Sun was illegally posted on the internet because she has lost her desire to finish writing it right now. I am glad that she posted a copy for her fans to read but the fact that she may never finish the project makes me feel bad for her. I know that was something she was really excited about. Being an author seems to be a tough road sometimes...

Something is better than nothing? Something about your blog makes me smile? I should be doing something but I'm here making random comments about something instead?

I'd never heard of McCain's VP running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin until today, but I got a little misty eyed when I heard her speak. I really like this lady! And not that this has anything to do with anything, but in checking out her background, I learned that I'm exactly 10 days older than her. Okay, now that felt a little weird...

WOW! WOW! WOW!

Thank you! That's just...all I can say! Thank you! I never win anything! Thank you! I've never seen Star Trek! Thank you! How did you choose the winners? Thank you!

(That's my comment. Yes. It is.)

I would like to comment on the badger that mysteriously showed up on the playground of my children’s school, whereupon several teachers chased away the animal and it ended up in my back yard, was found digging a burrow in my garden, upon which multiple police officers, various animal and wildlife officials and neighbors gathered ‘round my house to see the said vermin. At last, the uninvited visitor was chased from my back yard to another back yard and into the church parking lot before being captured by the city and state officials and taken to an area far, far, away.

My 11-year-old is writing a book that he plans on "publishing worldwide," with his home address in the back of the book so anyone who reads it can come to his house to get their book signed. And he just started his own writing blog.

I really, really hope that age and wisdom never squash his enthusiasm!

Q is amazing! I'm so excited she won!

My comment: I had too many tomatoes in my garden. They are now covering the dining room table.

I'd like to comment on the weather.
For much of the time I spent in Scotland this summer, it never stopped raining (unusual for summer weather there). Now that I'm home and there's been no rain for months, I already miss the rain again.
'Tis a pity we can't have half the rain here in SLC and half in Scotland.
Of course, when I voiced this opinion while standing in a queue at the Edinburgh International Book Festival about 2 weeks ago, the lady behind me said through gritted teeth "They can have ALL of it!"
It would be weird indeed if it rained enough in Utah to make moss grow on the lesser-used parts of the sidewalks, as it does in Edinburgh.

Something . . .

Something

Well, the music is nice. Yet, I do wonder about some thing, or two things, or three. First of all, they all need a haircut. A shave wouldn't hurt either. Then there are the leather pants and the long capes . . . just curious, but do you also think the scene belongs at Hogwart's? The mini-bikes are a bit strange and out of place, however. I think they should have kept the capes on while riding.

Oh! And then there is John's grin: Quite unnerving.

Doesn't Ringo know what the Surgeon General says about smoking?

Anyway, this is my comment on Something.

I just saw the movie Babylon A.D. and while it didn't leave you wondering "what the crap was that all about" the way "The Fountain" did, it still was metopharically way over my head... the music was good though...

Here's my comment: I think male writers have a harder time pursuing a writing career full-time than female writers.

I blogged about it. You're even mentioned. Here's the link, feel free to leave a comment :-)
