ARCs for THE MAZE RUNNER

Check out what I got!

Even though it doesn't have a cover yet, I'm in love. It's about the only thing I've been able to look at since getting them in the mail. I only got a few, though. So...

I doubt you can read this very well, but here's the summary they came up with.

And look at all the marketing things they plan on doing!

Love the close up. And then the closer up. And then the really fuzzy close up. Clearly an author in major smit.

It was worth the strain on my eyes to read that little blurb. It sounds way cool!!

Congrats on the ARC! I can only imagine what that must be like. One day...

Again, I hope your mom has a great trip! (Hopefully she'll bring you some of the gorgeous weather we've been having here in Georgia)

COOOOOOOOL!

I kinda like that cover. Very 1960s minimalist.

WAHOOOOOOO!!!

DIBS!

I know chances are slim, but it can't hurt.

Dashnog word: dinge. Doesn't count 'cause it's a real word...

And then there were seven...
Seven books, and counting. Can't read all the words on the blurb and campaign, but there will be time for that later.

Congratulations! May the road to fortune be lined with friends!

Wow that sounds really cool, I cannot wait for the book to come out to buy!!

Wow. I could read all the fuzzy words, though it was a bit difficult. I think the Maze Runner sounds very interesting.

I still would be ultra "ringled" if you'd send me an ARC. It would soooo make my day. Even if I don't know when that day might be...

If you'll just tell me what can increase my odds on landing a copy, I'll do whatever it takes to get it. Sorry for sounding like a crazy fan, but I'm feeling crazy on this special day.

Dranothe. That's my word. It sounds like a brilliant name for a fictional villain. But in Dashnog, I think it should mean sort of gothic. Really creepy gothic, like totally black clothes and pale skin and basically an evil, vampire brand of scary creepy. Not Stephanie Meyer vampires. They're awesome. It also applies to places, not only people.

Usage: the lonely castle on the hill seemed to have an incredibly dranothe air surrounding it. No one would go near it. Not that I would blame them.

Whoa, that's fantastic! The blurb sounds amazing. Maybe someday I'll know what what getting ARC (of my own) feels like...

Super cool! (and I could even see half of the summary! Excellent!

That summary is so rocking. I can't wait to read it.

Can't...breathe....hyperventilating....must...stalk...Dashner....

SERIOUSLY! OH MY GOSH, SERIOUSLY!! You are trying to KILL me, right? Right?! Because you're FRICKIN' KILLING ME HERE, MAN!!!!!

Dude. I just went to the H-E double hockey sticks for coveting. Seriously. SERIOUSLY!!!

Sarah Anne said...

You really should give me an ARC, because Jacoby got the T-shirt.

Just kidding. I might as well try, right? ;)

Cool, Mr. Dashner!

Please tell me this isn't an April Fools thing but rather a happy coincidence...Please?

J Scott Savage said...

Very, very cool! Can't believe all the marketing they are doing on this thing, guy. I better get you to blurb Farworld 2 before you change your phone number. Congrats!!

Enna Isilee said...

All right, who do I have to contact to get me one of those? :)

The Scarlet Tart said...

Ohhhhh the coveting! I'm with Lexi Lover, you're killing me! Seriously, how are you going to decide who gets one of those? There has to be some kind of plan, right? Or a list of your most favorite people in the world? Like your mom? I mean, really. Should I send her some chocolate?

Diva Donna said...

Dashner!!! If this is an April Fools you are going to hear the ominous 'tompr' of the 'swarings' as they descend upon you and you will feel the 'ingly' feeling just before the 'tratorsh' breaks out all over your blog and you are forever dupped a 'cleale' by your formerly loyal following.

If its not a joke and you really are sitting by your comp with plain but intriguing looking ARCs next to you then ENJOY the moment and congrats and soak up all the green vibes from the rest of us. And you are not 'panche' or a 'snedu' YOU are "Frizat!"

Magenta loved your dashnog word.
I did notice that we have several insulting names to call people and none that mean 'really cool guy' or 'awesome dude.' Something to keep an eye out for.

Lex, you crack me up. I mean really crack me up. Can't wait to make your aquaintance at Storymakers.

Arlene, as always...way to be shameless in the pimping and groveling. You are fabulous.

Magenta said...

Donna. Reeeeally loved your Dashnog usage. Strangely, I understood everything you meant towards James. It was quite an impressive display. You must use Dashnog all the time.

My word is Smardsm. I've got a great meaning for this: it's almost like a nickname for a geek or a nerd, but this guy has a much higher status than the others. He's smart and very sociable. He knows how to display and use his encyclopedic knowledge in interesting ways that regular people can relate with. Unlike geeks or nerds, a smardsm isn't super-obsessed about video-games or complex equations or stuff that goes way over people's heads like that. He can pretty much blend in with the normal crowd. But he's still very smart.

Usage: I consider myself a smardsm, and proud of it. I believe that everyone I associate with on Blogger is a smardsm. This is a big compliment.

This is a perfect word for a great someone to hang out with. Don't you think, Donna?

Q said...

Oh, and I noticed that on the "Publicity Campaign" place, it said somehting about "extensive ARC distribution." What exactly would that entail?

James Dashner said...

Thanks, everybody! And I really love some of the recent Dashnog words, and usage. You guys are very smardsm.

Guys, I'm really sorry about my ARC situation. I'll do some fishing and see if I can get some more.

But in the meanwhile, I'd suggest contacting Random House and requesting a copy for a blog review. Maybe that'd work.

Brian said...

Awesome!!!! I loved the description! I want one!!!

Donna, I can't wait to meet you at Storymakers too! (Although I warn you, I'm a weirdo.) =] And way to break out the Dashnogia. Woot!

Arlene, you're just awesome. Seriously. Awesome.

Everyone else, you guys are the coolest people to hang around!

Dashman, You Rock. Lots. =] (p.s. I met Lu Ann tonight and heard all about the fabulous class critique. Just one more reason why I respect you.)

How big of a blog would I need in order to put in a legit request for an ARC? I'm serious...I've got no problem putting up a meaningful review if it means getting my hands on it a few months early; I just don't know if I've got the traffic on my blog to be taken seriously.

Wow - how exciting for you, James! Congrats!!

Diva Donna said...

Magenta, Smardsm IS a great word for someone I would like to hang with. Way to go.

Lex, LOL I cna handle weird just not creepy...buwahahha.

Dashner--grats on the ARCs. So much good news in so little time. Has your head stopped spinning yet? And I did like 13th Reality. So no worries there. In fact even though I know that you are working toward Maze at full speed I have a question for you about 13 Reality book 1...so here is a little Q&A for ya.
Q: What do YOU feel the strengths and weaknesses of 13th book 1 are and how have you incorporated what you learned from writing it into your new projects?

Feel free to answer that one when you are not totally pushing for word count on Scorch.

Dashnog update...my conf words have been 'picis' lately so nothing new from me on this post.

LouMac said...

Wow! Congratulations! Woo hoo! I am soooooooooo excited!

haha! My Dashnog word is coradul. Now what could that mean? I don't know, but I am so "coradul" for your book! It's not even funny! hahaha! That one sucked, but oh well! haha!

Congrats James! I would be overly joyed to get an ARC. I think I would be hyperventilating while I was uunconcious! I don't know, maybe I would die of excitement! haha! Congrats again!

James Dashner said...

Graham, why don't you be our guinea pig. Show us what you can do. Do some research, find someone to email, beg.

You can do it!!!

Natasha @ Maw Books said...

James, I'm so going to email Random House to get an ARC of this one! Awesome!

Heather Moore said...

SWEET!

So are you signing ARC's at BEA?

Unknown said...

Beg? BEG?! I'm honored! Hahahaha! I'll see what I can dig up.

Dashnog word: mangst. It's manly angst, a much more aggressive kind of angst. The kind that makes chest hair grow.

Angie said...

YEAH!!!! Amazing! Congrats! Be sure to bring one so I can look at it on Tuesday!

Danyelle Ferguson said...

Congrats. That's so cool!rtl

Let the sucking up begin! Here's what I e-mailed to Random House on their website:

Random House publishes excellent books all across the board. I'm glad you guys have been around for so long, providing readers with the best of the best.

I've been a fan of James Dashner's work for a number of years now, going all the way back to the Jimmy Fincher series under CFI, and the more recent 13th Reality with Shadow Mountain. It's been great to see him progress as an author, both in writing style as well as the substance of his books.

What would I have to do to obtain an Advanced Reader's Copy of his next book, The Maze Runner? I would like to do a blog review of it, mostly to continue generating hype for the book this fall, but also to show the world how far he's come as a writer. It would show readers how Random House consistently picks the best material to publish; considering his initial and subsequent works, it's comparable to a stepladder, with RH being the top rung.

You have my contact information. Please let me know how to go about this. I appreciate it greatly.

James--
I also did a little mini-bio of your writing history on my blog, so when they check it out, they'll see I've already written about you.

Dashnog: exaphyd. It's like excited times a thousand, divided by ecstatic.

Garrett Matthews said...

Congrats to you! This is awesome. No, about me getting one...

Just Joking! I would love to have one, but, you know, probably wont

James Dashner said...

Heather, I'll be signing ARCs at BEA on Friday at 11:00 in the Random House booth. And I think again at the YA Buzz Forum at 2:30 that day.

I'll also be signing The 13th Reality at 1:30 on Friday. Busy few hours!

Graham, impressive. Keep us informed! You too Natasha.

I like Seth said...

When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his first name. He has no recollection of his parents, his home, or how he got where he is. His memory is black. But he’s not alone. When the lift’s doors open, Thomas finds himself surrounded by kids who welcome him to the Glade, a large expanse enclosed by stone walls.
Just like Thomas, the Gladers don’t know why or how they got to the Glade. All they know is that every morning, for as long as they could remember, the stone doors to the maze that surrounds them have opened. Every night, they’ve closed tight. Every thirty days a new boy is delivered in the lift. And no one wants to be stuck in the maze after dark.
The Gladers were expecting Thomas’s arrival. But the next day, a girl springs up—the first girl ever to arrive in the Glade. And more surprising yet is the message she delivers. The Gladers have always been convinced that if they can solve the maze that surrounds the Glade, they might be able to find their way home . . . wherever that may be. But it’s looking more and more as if the maze is unsolvable.
And something about the girl’s arrival is starting to make Thomas feel different. Something is telling him that he just might have some answers—if he can only find a way to retrieve the dark secrets locked within his own mind.

That is what it says, :D

OMG! I would love an ARC! *emails random house*
