Release Date for MAZE RUNNER moved up

Just wanted to announce that we all have to wait one week less now! My book's release date has been moved up by Random House to October 6, 2009. Originally it was December 9th, then October 13th, now October 6th.

Whatever works! I'm happy. One less week to sweat bullets and chew my pillow case.

I hope to see some of you on Tuesday night (the 7th) at 7:00 pm at the Jordan Landing Barnes and Noble in West Jordan UT. There was some confusion as to the starting time, so I'll probably go early just in case anyone shows up at 6:00. Angie, does that work?

I'll update this if it officially becomes a 6:00 starting time. All I know is the invitations to the schools say 7:00. I'm so confused.

How did you know it was my birthday!? Thanks for the lovely gift!
Okay, it's not really my birthday but it might as well be with news like that!

Woot woot! I'm okay with a closer date!

Dashnog: wingli. When you get all excited and your skin feels tingly and you think you can fly.

Sweet! Another week earlier! Keep it up, James!

Graham, your Dashnog words are always quite good. Wingli. That sounds a lot like my word Ringled, which also means excited. I think yours is better because you add an extra meaning to it... feeling you can fly...^,^

Let's see if I can match it. Gluskie. Well, I'll make that a monstrous wolf creature that lives in the lands filled with ice. Like, an Abominable Canine. A mix between a dog and a polar bear. It's a mix between husky and glacier.

Usage: If you're going out in a blizzard, be sure to dress warm and get back before nightfall, so you can skip the real cold. Oh, and keep a watch behind your shoulder for those nasty gluskies. They'll take a mean bite out of your leg if they catch a sniff of ya. He he.

If we're gonna be one-upping each other in the Dashnog Department, you're in for a loooong day!

Today's word is deablgo: It's what happens when someone can't spell "diablo" right, and mixes it with "go".

It's a very abbreviated form of "get thee hence, Satan" for children who have not watched enough Sesame Street.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahoooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Hi Mr. Dashner! I have a question for you...

I am currently writing a fantasy novel of my own and am wondering how many words a regular YA novel is. What's the average number of words you write in a book before you send it in to review it? haha! I bet that isn't a normal question, but I was just wondering!

I think I am 7,000 words so far. I know that you write more than that. Any tips of writing you have for all of us amateurs? haha! (I'm sure quite a bit of us would appreciate some.)

Ooh, I hope it gets moved up to like tomorrow or something! :D I am going to beg my parents to take me to West Jordan to meet you tomorrow. I still haven't read The Hunt For Dark Infinity! I want it so bad! And maybe I can buy Farworld too! (He's going to be there too, right?

Typical first novel is between 60,000 and 90,000. James told me that when we were hangin' out at the Fablehaven 4 launch party a few weeks ago. Yeah. That's right. Hanging out. Front row. You are now jealous :-)

Dashnog: durstic. Durstic is an adjective used to describe someone's disposition when they have way more hookups than you and they flaunt it shamelessly all over the Internet.

Usage: Graham Chops is currently being durstic.

Books books books!!! I just finished two mega-detailed outlines for a couple of projects I'm working on right now (one of them is the fantasy I told you about) and then The Forest of Hands and Teeth came in the mail yesterday. Giggity!

Dashnog: Typor (proper noun) A mythical hero from ages past, capable of cranking out epic-length manuscripts daily. Fears no man, beast or editor, and has slain the spell check demons on numerous occasions. Sagittarius, and likes long walks on the beach.

haha! I'm just posting because of the Dashnog word.

Dashnog: wonesses- Wontons, but they are for royalty. ya know? Dutch"ess". Anyway, that was pretty stupid.

Well, that's crap! I spelled it wrong and got a new word. haha! I had my fingers in the wrong place. This time the Dashnog word is "store". We all know what that is! hahahahahaha! WEIRD!!!!!!!

Dashner, As always it was fun to visit and razz you about just about anything. Thanks for the quick Q&A about your characterization. I'm looking forward to reading book 2 of 13th and I must say that Maze runner begins with really strong descriptions and quirky fun Dialogue. It is intriguing right off the back and I'm now joining the ranks of the "I can't wait to read Maze Runner" fans. Thanks for the glimpse at it.

Graham you crack me up. 'Sagitarius who likes long walks on the beach' lol Typor is mythical...

Magenta, way to start a word war! lol. You threw down the gauntlet.

Dashnog: meh.. not so much lately. I'll let you know when inspiration strikes.

Diva Donna said...

That last post was supposed to say that MAZE is great 'right off the bat' not back.

Dashnog: snessi- grumpy, sarcastic or snappy. Usage: Don't get snessi with me, it's not my fault you spilled hot chocolate on your lap.

Sorry I've been away so much!

Georgie, not sure when I'll be in UT county next. Stay tuned.

Loumac, a YA novel can be anywhere from 50k to 100k these days. But for your first, I'd shoot for 60-70.

As a point of reference, my 13th books are around 95k.

Dashnog: ababunda. What you say when a hot girl or guy walks by.
