Hey, James! I'm the girl that you signed 13th Reality book 2 around Brandon Mull's stand at the children's book festival at the Provo City Library last Saturday. The Maze Runner looks cool, but I really think The 13th Reality will always be your best series.
I am freaking out at how cool it is. I cannot wait to read it!

With a cover like that, I'd definitely think of reading it.
Well, then again, I don't really know about that, because I've heard so many cool things about Maze Runner that I think I'd read it no matter what the cover looked like.
But still, it looks really good! You see the maze outside, the hedges bright green against a pretty blue sky, and then you see those ominous old doors closing on you, shutting the maze out with its daggers.
I think it gives people a pretty good idea about how the book will go. ^,^

It's just a close up of the original....the original that to be quite honest I didn't like very much...
If it was up to me, I would make it like this. A guy and girl holding hands at the beginning of one of the entrances. the maze would slope down just a tad so you could see the top of the maze, how long, and how far it really goes. the edges would be misted out so it looks like it goes forever. compared to the maze the people holding hands would be really small. But then, hidden in a pattern in the stonework I would secretly hide the word WICKED.
When you turned the book over, it would be an over-the-shoulder view of a passage in the Maze. like you could see a blurred portion of the characters face (it would be shaded/blurred so you couldn't make out a real face) and over his shoulder its an empty, misty passage. but you can just see the outline/shadow of this horrific Reaver
That is how I would make the cover, the guy and girl would obviously appeal to both guys and girls. The maze adds curiosity. If you made WICKED obviously hidden. so where you saw it, but you realize its hidden to the characters - that would add mystery to why it was there.
Then of course the back, you would realize that people do go into the maze, and that there are things in it. more mystery, more intrigue.
So, what do you think, can I pitch this to you? would you accept?
I think its time to call in some favors with my friends and make some official Maze Runner Fanart ^.~
ok, don't get me wrong, I do like the cover. I just think its missing some flare...and I was never a fan of green.
But the book itself? Now the book is amazing! and I could go on for hours and hours about everything I like about it, and how cool James Dashner is, and all of these questions and mysteries he leaves for later!!!! and and and!!!!.....
Dude, I would talk to you for hours given the chance, I want to know your stories inside and out, the background to every single person that ever existed in your story! The background to every single idea thought up by the famous James Dashner! Everything and anything! From A Door in the Woods to the Maze Runner!

Hmm . . . I like it. I don't totally love it, but I do like it. Didn't the first cover have kids running out of the maze? I think I like that one better. But I tend to be drawn to covers that make me feel more connected to the characters. This one just makes me think of a dungeon. I don't know that I would have walked by and said, "I've got to pick up that book and see what it's about!!!" The only thing that would draw me (as a reader) to the book is the big JAMES DASHNER on the front. Cause I know if you wrote it, it's awesome.

Dashnog: extretti- awesome, amazing, just way above all those. Like when someone says there are no words to describe it, the word to describe it is extretti.

The cover is very intriguing and inviting. I would pick this one off the shelf and flip it over to read the back. The cover makes me want to know what it's about. I think it raises a lot more curiosity then the all-black version. The other one showed off the title, but gave me no clue as to what kind of book it was. This one makes me want to know the story behind it.
Isn't it so weird writing a story and having someone else paint a picture for you? Now the whole world will see your book first through someone else's eyes. Covers are like that. It can be kind of scary waiting for the final decision on cover art, but I think this one is really going to serve your book well.
I love the cover. I think it looks appropriately bleak (at least, for the story I have in my mind, since I haven't read it.)

Besides pink and purple, for some reason girls like green. So more girl friendly.
Intriguing, but as Danyelle said not my favorite. But it does look nice and I will add the maze runner to my James Dashner section on my book shelves along with 13th Reality, and the Jimmy Fincher books.

I think it's totally great -- I love it! It's a book that would be so hard to capture but that image is wonderful (and similar to the way I saw it). It's very very intriguing -- I'd totally pick it up to learn more!

I'd buy that. It does look a little bit like the original cover as far as the setup of the maze is concerned, but it doesn't scream "Indiana Jones" to me. Looks pretty sweet.
I think it's awesome! This is totally something I would pick up and want to read. Of course, I prefer action books to chick lit anyday, so I'm not your typical female consumer.

I like J.N. Future's idea. Not that I don't like the cover, because I do. But having a couple of characters on the front could get me interested. I could also use a little red in the color scheme. But all in all, I like it and, after all, its just the cover. It's what's inside that counts.
I think it's absolutely gorgeous. It's almost exactly how I imagined the maze.
I think it protrays a sort of fantastic element. It's larger than life, and that's appealing to me personally.

I am not going to go in much deatial but the picture itself is fine is more the lay out of the words and the colors do not work well together......I think with the word maze if you changed that to the yellow color in the sky one the photo cover like thing and then for your name make it be a tad bit darker than the word maze...I wish I could play with the pic to show you but ya that would be copyright infringment or somthing like that...idk it is probably to late for you to change anything so thats as much as I will say......word aernflux def helping hands usage I need a aernflux from everyone for a school project.....If you check out my blog it will show the school project I need your help with.....tiki tiki

I've noticed that when I look at it, I keep taking a closer look at it. Kudos to the artist for making your eyes want to explore the details.
So, I finally got around to finding the full picture on Straub's site (not an easy feat), and now I'm sad that they didn't put the whole thing on the cover. Also, they changed perspectives so the spikes are on the other side from what Straub did in the original. I don't know, I think we got gypped.
Also, I think that your crazy followers get a little excerpt of the book to read. It's just time.
