Turkey, Poland, and Tour oh my!

Well hi there! It's been a day or two (or thirteen) since I last blogged, so I figured I better get on here and give you guys an update. I've been very busy with the release of the third book in 13TH REALITY, with lots of good times. And other stuff.

So, without further adieu, here's one of my infamous numbered updates of randomness:

1. We recently sold rights to THE MAZE RUNNER trilogy in Poland and Turkey, which I think is just pretty cool.

2. Off the top of my head, here is the current list of languages/ territories in which you'll soon be able to read about Grievers hurting young people:

United Kingdom
France
Germany
Russia
Taiwan
Spanish (Spain)
Spanish (Latin and South America)
Portuguese (Brazil)
Greece
Poland
Turkey

Hmmmm. Am I forgetting somewhere? I think this it.

3. We've had some great events since I last blogged. The launch party in Utah, schools and signings in the Dallas and Phoenix areas. For all those who came, THANK YOU. It really means a lot to have such awesome support. I hope you like those books you bought!

4. The Hawks are up 2-0 in their series with the Bucks, the first time they've been up in a series 2-0 since 1970. Oh yeah.

5. The Braves have a winning record. All is well so far in the sporting world.

6. I'm really excited for the Storymakers writing conference in Provo UT this weekend, mainly because my AWESOME INCREDIBLE SUPERHUMAN editor Krista Marino will be there from Random House. It'll be fun to hang out with her and let her tell me in person what I'm doing wrong in my latest book. I'm also excited to see all my "regular" friends who go way back at this conference.

7. There are still a few stops on the tour coming up, including Denver, St. Louis, Houston, and then New York City for BEA. For details (that I have so far), CLICK HERE.

8. Phoenix is hot. It's April, and it's hot. I don't think I'd like to be here in July.

9. Leesie from the comments: you seem very sweet and kind. And you keep asking me to respond to an email. I'm sorry to say I have not received said email. I'm really sorry!!! Maybe you used an old address or something? I don't use author@jamesdashner anymore, by the way. Tell me what you're looking for in the comments and I'll see what I can do to help. Sound good?

10. Which reminds me, a lot of you have asked questions in the comments, and some good ones at that. I promise I'll get to them as soon as possible. Just not tonight because my eyeballs feel like sandpaper covered lima beans. I'm tired I guess.

11. I'm ashamed to say that I'm way behind on LOST and 24. Very ashamed. By the same token, I can't believe my good fortune that I have so many episodes to watch! No spoilers or I will hunt you down and make you watch Family Matters reruns.

12. I'm reading a fascinating book that I'm just loving, and it's not my usual kinda book. It's called PILLARS OF THE EARTH by Ken Follet. It's about the 1100s and the building of a cathedral. Life tweren't easy back then. And I'm pretty sure everyone smelled like armpits and doodoo. I'm very thankful for my Degree Deoderant and toilets.

13. Just one more shout out and thank you to all the incredible people I've met so far on this little tour. I don't dare start naming names because I will leave out someone and get hunted down and have to watch reruns of Family Matters. But you've all been so great and so nice to me. Thank you.

Until next time, nanu nanu!!!!!!

Pillars of the Earth is a fascinating book. It blows my mind that people were able to build such magnificent structures one thousand years ago.
I'm excited to see you at Storymakers. My first time there, but looking forward to finally meeting so many wonderful authors and bloggers in real life. My son will come for the book signing. He really wants to meet you!

I'll see you at Storymakers this weekend. I wasn't able to get a pitch session with Ms. Marino, but it'll still be nice to say hello to her. Props on the other international sales. Take it easy, brother.

I am WAY excited for LDStorymaker's TOO!!! YIPPEEE!!!!

And congrats on all your great book tour news! That is just GREAT!
Someday that will be me. :) If I keep writing and editing AND submitting....:))

My best friend just recommended Pillar of the Earth to me. Said it was brilliant. I need to pick it up. It is HUGE though!!!!! Ive not read a book over 1,000 pages in quite awhile.

I want it to be hot here in Scotland. Its still in the 40's.

Okay, by far that was the most odd post since you dropped your phone in the toilet. What's up with nanu nanu?

Anyway, I may be at the Storymakers due to mine and my grandpa's obsession with writing.

And I'm very disappointed you haven't been in with 24, I mean come on. The series totally turned around and now even more people have died, more have been shot, and Jack is mad!!!

Have you at least gotten to Dana's weirdness. That part was epic.

Anyway, off 24. I should probably watch Lost....Hmm...

Do you write reviews for books? Because mine is coming out in July and I was wondering if you wouldn't mind...

Well good luck with everything and

Until next time Dashner,

-Jackson

I'm SO bummed that I missed your release party. My husband saw a comment about it online and he said "Let's go tonight." So we planned out everything and times the kids naps just right only to find out that the release party was the previous night. Le Sigh. I guess I'll just have to wait to go to the next one. Congrats though and have fun.

Arizona is hot. Very hot. Except that today is a fluke and it is rainy and upper 60's. Sorry I missed you on Monday, but congratulations on getting The Maze Runner to Turkey and Poland! Hope to see you in the fall!

Yay! You're coming to NYC!!! But there wasn't any info when I clicked on your link. Can you post up when and where you'll be in NYC? Thanks a bunch.

It's about time Dashner! I was starting to think I'd never see a blog update from you. Haha! ;)

I'm going to Storymakers this week and I'm super excited! It's my first time but everything sounds great. So I will see you on Friday! :D

Cheri Chesley said...

I'm still very sad to have missed the launch party, but hopeful that I can track you down at Storymakers. I bought the entire Jimmy Fincher saga for an 11 yr old boy I know, and would love to get them signed before his birthday.

And no, you do not want to be in Phoenix in July. I saw 20 Julys in Phx and it's just not worth it.

Is it possible to get an ARC of The Scorch Trials?

Leesie Jones said...

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE SHOUT-OUT! It totally made my day. I even think it helped me do better on the big test at school!:)

Bummer, that was the email address I was using. What's is your new one? I would say what I asked you on the email here, but it's going to sound funny and desperate... which is exactly what I am. haha.

Okay here's the thing, I am SUPER mad at the person at the library who is stealing the first of the thirteenth reality away from me! Who do they think they are, taking the book I want? But they should take their time, I guess. I just hope they finish soon!

I've guesed you have figured out already from the above paragraph that I haven't started The Thirteenth Reality yet, but I will soon!! Can I still see you on your tour for the third book?

I can't wait for the Scorch Trails! I might die of waiting!

I am very happy that you said something random at the end of your blog post because that is what I am going to do right now!
Tiki-Tocki!!!

Here's my question: Why do I not see your name listed on the massive list of authors coming to the Provo Library in May for the Children's Festival!? I have a new James Dashner book that needs signing! :)

I was feeling all warm and comfy and cozy--like I'd had a good visit with you, feeling all caught up with the comings and goings on your life.

And then you got all confessional about Lost.

Oh, dear.

Please. PLEASE! Get right with God. Get caught up. And then I'll feel so much better about our friendship. And by "friendship," I mean "the way that I stalk you via twitter."

The end.

Nanu Nanu? Wow, you're taking me back to my old Nick at Night obsession. (shhh. Nobody knows about that)

Congrats on your latest release and new language sales. Can't wait to see you at Storymakers. It's been a long time.

Jackson, you remember the phone? I forgot about it until now, and I totally agree with you. He's obviously not thinking straight because he on tour and his head is in the clouds. :P

Make sure you blog more, Dash, I almost gave up on you.

Jackson Porter said...

Haha Lula, we can relate, you stalk him via Twitter, I stalk him via Twitter and Blog.

Yes Vanessa, he's clearly not right with the world yet. Head in the clouds. Behind on 24 and Lost. Dashner is slowly slipping through his Duders fingers.

Too bad WE can't hunt him down and make *him* watch re-runs of Family Matters.

Or maybe we could.

-Jackson

Liz @ Cleverly Inked said...

Lmao.. NANU Nanu. Classic Mork!

Leesie Jones said...

Haha! I was just watching re-runs of Family Matters the other day. It's not that bad of a show... it gets boring though.

I don't think that your going to lose any duders just because your not posting a lot. Just remember that we wait for you to do so!

I think that it's fine that you aren't caught up with Lost or 24. I don't even watch those shows! But if you said you weren't caught up with American Idol, I would be sorry for you!

Clint Johnson said...

PILLARS OF THE EARTH--good book. But you're still following 24! James, man...

I'm speechless.

Realitants.com said...

Yeah, really dont know how to contact a lot of your fans, but I figured I would post it on here. Everyone please check out http://www.realitants.com/forum/ if you like T13thR. It would be nice to discuss the series with other fans!

Jackson Porter said...

Okay Dashner, I just have to complain to you. My mom read the first two 13 books and loved them. Then she read three and said it was one of the worst books ever. I know, I'm crying and sad and disappointed too. But I couldn't change her mind. I loved it, it was my absoloute favorite.

But all of Dashner's Duders out there, I need to really start promoting my book. On July 23, 2010 my book The Shard of Life will be released.

You will soon be able to pre-order it on:

Thanks for all of you who contribute.

Dash,

Congrats on all the success... Writing, tours, signings, etc.... never mind the fact that you have a family! Thank you for taking the time to share everything with us. We are all understanding that you have such a busy schedule and appreciate the time you do give to us...right guys?? I mean, we DO want you to concentrate on what it is you do best so we can all have the pleasure of reading your awesome books.

See you in a few weeks at BEA. The girls can't come (we were lucky enough to get 2 press passes!) but the "old lady" and I will be looking for you. WOO HOO- Dashner returns to NYC! That should be a clue to you guys who are near Dashner and have the ability to see him at many different local events- don't take it for granted. I have to wait for the once a year he flies out to the east coast to see him!

Gotta ask... are you into "Flash Forward" or "V" at all??? Maybe I have not read enough of the posts recently, but I haven't seen much of a mention for each and I am I positive you would LOVE them both. Flash Forward should be right up your alley!

Catch ya soon!

James, It was wonderful hanging out at the "winners" table with you at the Provo Conference. Back at the farm, my sons were delighted to hear that their favorite author is as cool in person as he is on paper. (cooler even)

Good luck on your tour and we'll see you again next year!

I am excited to say that a friend of mine loaned me a copy of "The Maze Runner". It took me a week and a half to find time to finish it, as I am busy packing and painting and getting ready to move our family. I LOVE a good book. I love getting sucked into another world from which I wish there was no return, until I read the final page that is. I love the fact that there is no fluff in this book. No dead spot. It kept me going. I wanted to continue...to read on...until the end. Thank you for sharing your love of writing with us. It was amazing. Another friend of mine was in Utah this weekend at Storymakers and I am completely jealous. I hope it was wonderful and fantastic. I am an aspiring author and can't wait to have time on my hands again to finish editing the book I have written. Again, thank you for your talent. I look forward to reading more of your books!

Hi, I'm trying to write something but I don't know if it's good. You are, as of a week ago, one of my favorite authors and I'd like to Email the first 50 pages to you. I guess you can Email me your Email address, then I can put my word file from my desktop into an Email, send it to you, have it horribly rejected, yada yada. Just a thought.

123fiddler@live.com

If you don't respond, you will crush my hopes and dreams forever and I will give up everything in life and flunk out of school.
JUST KIDDING.

Your in Phoenix and I didn't go to your signing? Ugh! I should have been paying more attention! BTW, it's been cold in Phx right now. I'm still wearing a jacket! LOL!

Mr Dashner,

Saw the article about your success in the Deseret News and was trying to rack my brain. Your name and face were so familiar. I think I finally made the connection. Did you used to teach Accounting at SLCC as an adjunct professor?

I think I am right, and if I am, thanks for the pep talk about cash flows. (You probably don't remember, but after nearly the entire class struggled with the concept, you told us with practice and time, it comes to everyone.) It did for me, and I continue to work in accounting professionally.

Congrats on your success with your writing career, much more glamorous and interesting than accounting, I'm sure.

AHHHHHH!!! I am so excited to meet you. I'll be there tonight. Just watch out for a girl with the name Leesie and 1-2 of my friend(s). Like I said, I haven't read any of The Thirteenth Reality yet. But I SWEAR ON MY LIFE I will. Congrats on everything. You really are a great success.

With Total Shankness,
Leesie

It was so cool to see you at the Launch Party! I enjoyed it so much! I loved your face when you saw the 'trick-or-treating' book, as we like to call it. It was so cool with all of the kids around. you were 'allowed' to be mean to this kid. hehehe. I love your stuff! My mom is going nuts trying to find the first clue!

It was good to see you again in Phoenix. If you thought April was hot all I can say don't come in July. It's been a mild April, no triple digits yet! I'm thrilled with your success on Maze Runner and promoting both your series here and I'm sorry I missed Storymakers. I planned on going and then life happened. Gotta love when life gets in the way! :)
