The 13th Reality, Book 2: The Hunt for Dark Infinity

EDIT: For some reason when I post the cover, it looks a little fuzzy and messed up. I'll try to get a better version soon. But you get the general idea.

The letters are just white in this picture, and a couple things will change, but this is basically the cover. (Artist: Bryan Beus, firmly entrenched in my Top 20 Favorite People)

I'm very, very, very curious at your reaction. Please tell me what you think!

Are you trying to increase your page hit count today, because I'm so going to keep checking back because of the rabid curiousity you've inspired.

Wow! It looks wonderful! I would love to see what it looks like with pages attached to it! I like your first cover better - but im not throwing a fit, this one is cool to!

you wanted to know what i think....um
-Who is this person?
-What is she holding?
-Whats the castle in the back
-is it Mistress Jane?
-Is that a pillar of light in the backgroud?
-is there a stairway in the light?
-I can tell the artist likes things to be flowing (as the should!)(notice her shawl - and then notice atticus's scarf and the pages around him. this person is obviously very good at making things mysterious. in my mind - flowing means mystery)
-then of course the last question in my mind - what is Dark Infinity?
-is that what she is holding?

I love the use of the colors white and yellow. they are obviously what pull your eyes in - but there is also some green in there to set off the normally glaring yellow

this is what i think about it ^.^
Thanks for showing!!!

infinity. Infinity means things beyond our comprehension. DARK infinity, hmm. :D Love it. I'm pretty sure that's Mistress Jane. I think it looks great. Looking forward to reading it James!

I think it's a strong cover, James. Kind of the covers on much of Melanie Rawn's work (don't know why I thought of that), only you don't have a dragon or huge conflagration behind your dramatic figure, but a castle. Crisper if more static presentation on yours. Overall, I'd be well satisfied with it.

Welcome home, by the way.

I love, Love, LOVE it! It is beautifully done. I love the colors and the castle in the background and the flowing shawl and how it feels crisp and clean. I love how it is the Hunt for the Dark Infinity, but the cover is so much lighter than the last one. Intriguing.

This is definitely a cover that would make me buy the book even if I didn't know anything about you as an author. I can see why Bryan Beus is one of your top 20 favorite people!!

I think it's a great cover. I don't know if I'm unique in this aspect, but one of the main factors for me even reading a book is the look of the cover. I've read the first book in your serious and loved it, but had I not read it, I'd be intrigued enough by this cover to give it a go.

I think it's great! Makes me excited to read it!!

Weird. Only a few nights ago I was pondering what about a cover might increase a book’s likelihood to sell. I was tidying up a Shadow Mountain display at a place I work, and I happened to notice the books with the less busy cover art had sold more. The latest Leven Thumps book was an eye-catching part of the display. The cover had a shiny, metallic gold color to it. I picture the cloak and lettering on your new novel will have the same. I believe the Dark Infinity’s cover will be an aesthetic success. Congrats. You should be excited!

Love it a lot! Better than the first cover, in my opinion, and makes me excited for the book, really excited. I'll have to show it to my brother, he'll be excited too.

OOh. I REALLY like that.

I gotta admit, I was first thinking... Cool, there's a search for something weird, the illustration suggests the woman has found something she was looking for... and then the dark twisted part of my mind asked - If it's a dark infinity, why does the thing in her hand glow bright?

My poor, sick twisted mind... it's still a great cover.

Oh! I love it! I can remember an image like that castle that I, for some reason, connect with reading the first book.

I loved it the first time I saw it (which wasn't on this blog today). I was in one of your classes at the LUW Roundup (I loved your class as well). Have you changed something from the cover you showed in your class? I'm thinking you have. Correct me if I'm wrong. Either way it doesn't matter because I like what I see. I'm anxious to read it. I admit I haven't had a chance to read my autographed copy of The 13th Reality yet. Too many weddings and funerals in my life as of late. But I promise I'll have it read by the time Hunt for Dark Infinity comes out. I want to read them both. If they are as entertaining as you are as a person, they will be well worth the wait.

Very cool James! Lisa's bringing an ARC home for me tonight. Is it ok to post non-spoiler reviews on my blog? (It's nice to be married to the editor)

I love this cover. It intrigues me; makes me want to know more. I love how it matches the feeling of the first book, not just the title, the flowing cape and glowing orb especially. I also like how the colors make the person the main focus and then your view expands to take in the surroundings. Looks great!

What a great pic! Love it and can't wait!

Oh, and I have to say, because I said I would, James was on time to the signing and Sanderson was late. Just FYI

James - I love the cover. I think it goes really well with the manuscript. But I can also understand how someone who hasn't read it yet, would have the same questions j.n. future author. Hopefully the blurb on the back will answer some of those questions, & leave just enough unanswered that anyone checking it out won't be able to put it down! :)

Great cover!
I also wondered (like j.n. future author) if it was Mistress Jane...

Can't wait for the ARC! :) :)

Very, very cool cover.

That's a spiffy cover. Whoever was hired to design it did a good job.
Sure, you can't judge a book by its cover, but we all know that we're more likely to pick up a book with an appealing cover over one that lacks appeal.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series and am looking forward to the second one. As far as the cover I like what's been done with it, although it looks very bare while the letters are plain white. Once they are completed it will look much better. The one thing I would suggest to add to it is a bit more dimension in the background (the first has a very dynamic dark tree playing off of the light blue moonlight). Perhaps some darker colors to balance out all the yellows of the person and the light grays of the castle. I like the repetition of the swirling, flowing object around the character. Overall I think it's a great design, I'm excited for the release of the book!

James, LOVE the cover! Your artist does amazing work! When is the second book slated for release? Next month ;-)

Cat Nash from Richmond VA who can't wait to read the next one!
