Book Trailer for The Maze Runner

I've been tweeting about this like crazy, but in case you haven't heard: the official book trailer for The Maze Runner is now available online. It's part of the Kirkus Reviews 2009 Book Video Awards, sponsored by Random House and shown exclusively on the Barnes and Noble website.

To see the trailer, CLICK HERE, then select the one by filmmaker Brighton Linge. And I won't try to sway your vote, but be sure and vote for the video you like the most. For example, if you thought the trailer for THE MAZE RUNNER is the BEST, then you should VOTE for it by clicking that little button. Which is what I did!

I can't believe how awesome this video is. Seriously. When they showed it to me at the RH offices, I was totally wowed. I'm not sure what I had been expecting, but to see something so professional and terrifying and visually stunning blew me away. It's as good as any movie trailer I've ever seen, and has intensified my desire for the movie to be made by about, oh, a billion times.

I don't know a whole lot about the filmmakers except that they are film students and I have three names: Brighton Linge, Jordan Taratoot, and Keenan Porterfield. I'm sure there are more and I plan on finding out and letting you guys know about them all. I can't believe how talented they are! Honestly, I wish somebody would give them 100 million dollars and let them make the movie themselves.

So, everyone go watch it, vote, then let us know what you think here in the comments. Let's show these guys how much we love it!

Warning: it is very scary and not for small children. And just wait until you hear the sounds of the Grievers...

There's also an extended version that's twice as long that I really, really hope sees the light of day very soon as well. Stay tuned.

In other news, on to Week 3 of The Maze Runner tour! I'll be visiting schools and bookstores in Salt Lake City, Phoenix, then LA. I'll be at the West Jordan BN tonight (Mon. 6pm) and the Murray Borders tomorrow night (Tues. 7pm). For the full schedule, please CLICK HERE. I hope to see some of you...

Now go watch that trailer! And vote for the one that rhymes with The Schlaze Gunner.

Schlaze Gunner...I've so read that before.

Hey James, between my supervisor and I, we've sold four hardcovers and an audio copy of Maze in my store, and I didn't even have to do it at gunpoint :-)

Oh, that was definitely awesome. I had to yell for my son as he walked in the door from school. He thought he was in trouble...then he saw the trailer and he goes, "NO WAY! They're already making it into a movie?"

I explained. He still thought it was extremely cool. And he's way picky.

Two votes at my house. =)

James, I just got MAZE on Sunday...
I seriously read it in about 4 hours, you'll be glad to hear.

Okay, James, you just wrote, no joke here, one of the best books that I have ever read in my entire life. I am actually putting it right up on the shelf with the Harry Potter series, Maximum Ride(books 1-3 only, however), The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, etc.

I know that way too many people say this, but I literally could not set down the book. It was fast-paced, memorable, and with perfect amounts of creepy and thrilling blended in. Tomorrow, I'm going to read it again.

You created a world with this book, that pretty much had me looking out the window to check for Greivers (those things were awesome!). Congratulations, James, your book deserves it's own stand at the front of the Barnes and Noble down the street.

-Wil, the kid in Texas who is addicted to your books!

P.S. Looking forward to Blade of Shattered Hope & SCORCH TRIALS eagerly.

It was nice to finally meet you yesterday! Unfortunately, my parents are making the Maze Runner a Christmas gift. While that means I don't have to pay for it, I don't get to read it until December. I'm attempting to read the entire Work and The Glory series before then, just because of that.

I bought this book for my 12-year-old son, but I couldn't resist reading it first. I absolutely COULD NOT put it down - literally. I read the book straight through to the finish and find myself wanting to go back to page 1 and begin again! I love, love, love it... I had to track you down so I could tell you how much I enjoyed your book. I'm a high school English teacher and have been book-talking The Maze Runner to all of my classes!

james, it was awesome meeting you yesterday and getting you to sign my book :) I'll bet the sevies got you while us eigth grader got stuck with something else. last year we got obert skye, but that was before i was even his fan so grrrr. besides, i like your books better.

why does the book say that you wrote 13th reality but not jimmy fincher? aren't you proud of him? he started it all!

Loved it! The Grievers were perfectly terrifying. I voted twice. I can't imagine someone not making this into a movie.

Did I mention I'm afraid to go to bed. (I know, I'm ruddy shuck-faced coward.)

Love the trailer and the book! My son is one of the actors and I had the privilege of watching the magic unfold. The crew who produced the trailer are phenomenal! Wonderful folks and very creative.

That was so sweet!!! Oh, man it gave me chills!!!

But I have one question. Who was the creepy, blond haired kid in the middle of the video? You know, the one all bloody with the black eyes? I can not figure out who he is supposed to be!

But anyway, best trailer ever! Seriously!

Wil S. said...

Alyssa, my guess about the creepy blond haired kid in the trailer, ummm, I would think that's Newt.

Hey James,
I've been a little busy and haven't gotten to read Maze Runner yet. I saw the trailer and realized that I NEED to move this one up on the reading list. Looks awesome!!

Lyssa(: said...

Naw, I don't think thats Newt. Newt doesn't look or act anything like that. Besides Newt was the one talking to him by the wall. I think it might be Ben, maybe.

Anyway, totally awesome trailer!!
