Covers: Spanish and Portuguese Maze Runner

Hi everybody! We're coming up on some exciting things in the world of The Dashner Dude as we inch closer to the paperback release of THE MAZE RUNNER (Aug 24) and the hardback release of THE SCORCH TRIALS (Oct 12). Soon we'll have an advance copy giveaway, as well as a lot more information about the sequel. (By the way, it IS a direct sequel, beginning four hours after Book 1 ends.)

But today I want to show off the INCREDIBLE covers from V&R publishing in Brazil. These books are going to be released this fall and available anywhere in Latin and South America. I absolutely love the artwork and the design. Thanks to Maria Nazareth from V&R for sending these to me. I can't wait to get copies!

Here they are. The artist's name is Marcelo Orsi Blanco (check out his website: CLICK HERE), and he's awesome. What do you guys think?

I think I like these even better than the American cover.

Wow, those are pretty intense. They kind of remind me of those older books, the ones where they first began creating covers with computers.

I'm soooooo excited for Scorch. I'll do everything in my physical/mental/psychological power to win an ARC.

Finally, you blogged again, although it was short. It's still fun to read your posts.

Are they going to release a paperback of Maze with the same cover, or without?

Dude, that Spanish cover is siiiiiiiick. I'm way on board with these, they're better than the American cover.

Great covers! I can't wait for THE SCORCH TRIALS but I have the worst luck with getting ARCs, so I'll just have to wait. This cover makes the American ones look a bit tame, in my opinion. Is that a Greiver on the back?

So Cool!

So are ARCs available yet? Do I need to start working magic?

But I doubt I'll get that lucky two books in a row. ;)

That is freakin' awesome, dude =). Congrats! Again and again. You must be beyond excited.

Dang. Why weren't these the American covers? These bring the ominous and claustrophobic feel to the front. Either way, they look great, and I'm looking forward to THE SCORCH TRIALS.

I love the cover. How exciting to be where you are in your writing career. I think about that all the time and pray I can get there too!

I'm reading your last 13 Reality right now. Love it. Great story. Thank you for what you add to the world. You're a gifted artist and loved by everyone who knows you. I hope you know that.

Wow James, I'm glad you liked the cover!!

I had a lot of fun reading the book! It was the type of story I really enjoy (filled with mystery and suspense), so the painting came down really smoothly.

And thanks a lot for putting a link to my site, it's much appreciated!

Can't wait for the next book!

Hey, did you notice that you have over 1,000,000 views? I think you do... look at the counter. 1,300,000, around there. Anyways, just wanna point out that little fact for you in case you haven't noticed it.
P.S. Finally got Maze from library! Can't wait to read it!

James,

My name is Matt Hayes and I am finishing up the first book in my first series, THE SWORD KEEPER, and I am in the process of outlining the first book in my second series, UNTITLED (I plan to go to Shadow Mountain with this series, THE DAWN BREAKER). There is one question that has been nagging at me for a LONG time now: How do you get an agent, where can you get one, and do you have to pay him/her?

Those covers are awesome! It makes me feel like America is just a guinnea pig for other countries.

And did you say ADVANCE READERS COPY? No joke, I will totally make a fan video of how much I want to have an ARC of SCORCH. Harry Potter turned me on to reading, Twilight turned me off, and The Maze Runner turned me back on. I wouldn't put MAZE down until I was finished! I want to re-read it, but my english teacher stole it from me for the summer. Anyway, I'll put up a link when my video is done. Thanks for being awesome!

What is it with American covers? They never give the cool, good stuff. I find (usually) I like the foreign covers better- and this is one of them!

I get the ARC, right? Right?

I must say Dashner, you've inspired me.
I was reading through some of your old blog posts and I saw that you loved Lord of the Flies. So i was all like, "Why not check it out, right?"
I'm only like half-way in it so far, but I must say, IT'S AMAZING! Personally, I added Ralph to my list of fictional characters I wish i could marry.
Jack seems like a jerk. No offense to him, but he does.
Poor Piggy! I feel ALL sympathy for him!
Ugh! WHy am I typing this?! I want to start reading it again!
Anyway, it's a great book so far.
I love the little choir! I feel bad for them. Being ruled by Jack and all.
Random comment, I know, but I just wanted to let you know what I thought.
I NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED An ARC. If I don't get one, I will die dramatically in a video and send it to you. :)

I'm a high school English teacher and I can't wait for the school year to start so I can get every student turned on to the Maze Runner! It's hard to get high school boys turned on to literature, but this book definitely appeals to the boys AND the girls. I had a blast reading it and can't wait for the sequel. I will be buying a few copies of the paperback issue as well to add to my classroom library. Congrats, Dashner!

Woah. Cool covers and congrats on the nomination James! You deserve it!!! :)

This is probably totally illegal on Dashner's site but oh well. Check out the awesome cover (but not nearly as awesome as Dashner's) for The Lost Saint: A Dark Divine Novel.

Mr. Dashner,
Thank you for your logical and reasoned response left in your second comment on the blogpost you didn't like today. Although I still agree with my statements, I am impressed that you came back with a sound argument rather than just leaving a knee-jerk, emotional response. I can respect that, and I will use this as a teaching example in my classes for how students can handle situations when they might otherwise left emotions get in the way of presenting their sides of the arguments.
