The Scorch Trials. Tomorrow.

Wow, how did it become October 11th so fast? How did my countdown on the blog get to under one day? How did the Braves blow the game in the 9th inning last night?

I feel like I should say something profound today. My book comes out tomorrow, and I'm extremely excited for people to read it and I'm really looking forward to meeting some of you out on the road in the next couple of weeks. I guess that sums it up.

I think you'll like SCORCH. If you liked the first book (and I'm not arrogantly saying that's everyone, but if you DID like it), then I'm confident you'll love the sequel. It begins just hours after the first one ends, and I'm pretty sure you'll never be able to guess the direction it's going. Be sure and let us know here at the Dude what you think!!!!

Have you guys seen the trailer for SCORCH? It's short but really cool. I'll paste it at the bottom of this post.

If you're looking for the tour schedule, CLICK HERE. I hope all who live within a reasonable distance (say... 286 miles) to these events will come out. I wish everyone could make it to the official Launch Party tomorrow night (The King's English in SLC, 7:00 pm, 1532 S, 1500 E), but some of you may live more than 286 miles away.

I'll try to stay very connected as I'm out and about on the tour, especially with Twitter since it's easiest. CLICK HERE to follow me there. I always seem to get very interesting drivers, so you don't want to miss out on that commentary....

You can also friend me on Facebook (CLICK HERE) or follow this blog (CLICK HERE) or "Like" the official FB Maze Runner page (CLICK HERE). So many options!

Tomorrow. My book comes out tomorrow. That's awesome.

Here's the trailer (be sure and watch some of the fan made videos on YouTube. I love them!). If you can't see the whole thing, just go to the actual website: CLICK HERE.

In celebration of The Scorch Trials I even reread TMR (it's still freaking awesome!)

Dude! I'm so excited for it!!! and I was able to contain myself and not beg for an ARC ^.~ I don't know though, now that this milestone is about to be hit that means that next on the list is Death Cure!!! ^.^ That book I will indeed beg for ^.~

I can hardly wait! ^.^ I'm going to stay up all night tonight rereading Maze, that way tomorrow, when I blaze through Scorch I will remember everything that has happened up to that point ^.~

I'm so excited! I can hardly contain it!!! Maybe I'll sneak into the back room and steal a copy early! *evil laughter* at the very least I can drool over the box!!!

I was excited to see the shipping confirmation from Amazon yesterday. I even have a trip scheduled for this weekend so I can read it on the airplane. (Didn't schedule the trip just so I could have a few uninterrupted hours with nothing to do but read a book, just turned out that way. But wouldn't it be cool if I had? :) ) I figure I'm not even going to be that upset if the flight gets delayed. More time to read!

Congratulations on the upcoming release.

I seriously wish we didn't have a conflict so we could come! Have a blast without us! :)

I think if you're going all the way to Sheboygan, you could take a jaunt up to Seattle. You're even going to be in Portland. Just 3 1/2 hours north is all you need. Sigh. We really like to read in Seattle--all those rainy days, you know.
Oh, and I have nothing against Sheboygan. I mostly just wanted to say the name. Sheboygan.
Best wishes James. You deserve it.

I'd come, but I've got a frikin debate tournament. Anyway, I'm very excited for the book tomorrow. I've also got something in the morning so I'm trying to get somebody to bring it to me during school.

Yes, I said I'd come to your signing and then I couldn't. I mayyyyy be able to make it if this tournament gets out early, but not likely.

Any news for us on Reality 4?

Awesome! Hope all goes well. It really is an amazing book! (I was lucky enough to get an ARC.) I actually liked it even more than The Maze Runner!

Congrats! I'm going to try to hit King's English tomorrow night.

Hopefully you have enough reading material to keep you busy on those flights? *cough cough*

I saw you. I saw you on the first page of one of the sections of our Sunday newspaper. That's awesome sauce. I want to go, honestly, because I was there for your 13th Reality new book one, but it's not easy when you're in a virtual academy.

I'm planning on making a collage of Author newspaper articles. So far, your article will be the second. I'm excited for you.

Still to this day I hate to shatter the whole "24" comment thing. Anyway, Dashner has managed to captivate me, scare me to death, and make me laugh my head off in all but the first 100 pages of Scorch Trials.

I tweeted you Dashner, check it out please.

Hey James. Finished SCORCH last night at 11:45. Awwesome book man. I really liked it. Thought the ending was great. Honestly the only issue I had was that now I have to wait for the last one. Curses!!! Big fan man. Great job.

Jackson Porter said...

Okay, since I can't shove all of this into a tweet and I feel like I'm intruding when I email you, Dashner, I have a few words of the Maze Runner.

When I first finished the Maze Runner you may remember that I freaked out on you. This time I'm not as mad...

Not for the same reason.

This time you didn't make me cry my eyes out. But now I'm afraid of the dark AND of stairs.

That was the most obnoxious huge cliffhanger in the whole freaking world!

But I loved it, the ending, the story, the action. It was just fabulous.

And now I have a whole freaking 12 months for the next one.

What a long, long wait.

See ya later,

Shank

I just saw somebody twitter about your books. Which wouldn't be unusual, except it was in Greek. If someone twittered about me in Greek, I think it would make my month. They've even read your blog!

Just finished The Scorch Trials and I have many things to say about it. List time!!
1) James Dashner. I hated you for about 200 pages of this book. Call me a Crank, but I wanted to stab your eyes with a fork.
2) James Dashner. 200 pages later, I loved you again.
3) Best. Book. Ever.
4) I don't see what all the fuss is with Harry Potter. They came out like ten years ago, and were great books then. I'm pretty sure that The Maze Runner series is about a gazillion times better than anything else ever written. Ever.
5) The Maze Runner series is now my favorite series. The Maze Runner was my favorite book, but now that there's two books, it can be my favorite series. :D
6) I hate myself. I've been looking forward to this book for a year. I look on your blog about every week just incase the it happened to be released earlier. Then on Friday, the 15th, I realized that the book was out. I had missed the release date. How terrible is that?
7) The Death Cure needs to be out. Now. I know you're done with it. Don't make me raid a publishing company or something drastic like that. It'd be nice if you just drove to my town and happened to drop a copy of the manuscript out of your car window on accident in front of my house.
8) Can't stay on topic, but The Scorch Trials was so good, it made my hands all sweaty and I can't get my mouse on my laptop to scroll because of the sweat. I finished like an hour ago, but my hands are still all sweaty. Gross.
9) There is sooo much more on my mind, but I can't think of what else to put, so I guess I'll go do that history homework that your amazing (for lack of any word good enough to describe it) book made me put off all weeked.

Best. Book Ever. Great job!

P.S. I'm serious about number 7.
P.P.S. Just kidding.
P.P.P.S. Actually I'm not sure. I might be driven to it without an ARC, and even that seems much to far away. Is that your plan for conquering the world? Make people crave your books until they can't stand it, and offer you anything in return for them?

Okay, first of all, I must say to Jake Swann, man, your awesome.

Next, Dashner, I just realized that I'm going to have to wait a whole shuckin year for The Death Cure. A SHUCKIN YEAR. This makes me wanna wig out. Now I must plot on how I will get an ARC of your next genius book....

Holy moly, James Dashner! I finished your book over the weekend, and wow. Just wow. Seriously, the book is a HUGE step from "The Maze Runner"!!! I'm way past excited for the next book! I can't wait till all the ______ are revealed for the characters! (I'm referring to what you wrote on the last "chapter" of your book (the letter)) Man, I'm getting excited thinking about it. I was so scared in the part where you-know-who did you-know-what to Thomas.... So sad that it won't be the same! (I'm trying to be really vague so I won't spoil the awesome book.) Anyways, I just wanted to thank you so much for writing the books, and I anticipate the next :) but last :( book! So sad to see it end.... I hope you continue to write after you're finished with the next book! Sorry for this long comment, btw.

The book still hasen't come out in Calgary. Im not even sure if its out in Canada yet, cause i've looked online and no other stores in Canada have it, and if they do they have only 1 cause thats all they got. Im dissapointed Cause i loved the first one so much

I have just finished reading The Scorch Trials! It was BRILLIANT. I absolutely loved it. I am quite sad, though, that I have to wait again for the next book, but thats okay, because its definitely worth it. I don't want to ruin anything for people, but I thought that when Teresa started turning on him, and kissed Aris, I was so intrigued! .. but then I read the rest. Love your books sooo much!

I was at your reading tonight (Oct. 21) at Powell's in Portland. Even though there were only a few of us it was great to hear what you had to say about writing. I look forward to reading The Maze Runner and then Scorch Trials. I keep a blog about books, and whenever I got to an author reading I do an entry about it. So tonight's was for you, a little free good press. If you're interested here is the link (http://librietlibertas.tumblr.com/post/1371344086/entry-93-special-post-james-dashner-and-rick-riordan). I'll be listening for you on Writing Excuses again!

Read it one day...It was great. The only bad part...waiting for the next book! When should we expect it???

First of all, I just finished Scorch Trials. Oh, how I hate cliffhangers... Secondly, it's just AMAZING writing. I've been reading every one of your books all the way back through the Jimmy Fincher Saga. :) I can't believe how much things have developed through all the various book. The Scorch Trials was definitely one of the best books I've ever read. Congrats, and I'm waiting eagerly for your next book. ^.^

I finished the book in one day. Great, on my toes through the whole book read. Will you just put out the third book already? I have to know what happens. Seriously. Please?

May I just say that I read half of Scorch Trials one day at Deseret Book, and the other half when it finally showed up at my door :) I have honestly never loved a more maddening book... the total lack of closure both drives me crazy and makes me WANT MORE!!! Thank you so much for writing such amazing books, I absolutely loved reading both Maze Runner and Scorch Trials. I even loved reading Scorch enough to not study for my math mid-term... it was TOTALLY worth it... FLIPPIN' AMAZING!!!

Hey James - John and I really wanted to come to your signing in St. Louis, but just couldn't get a babysitter since it was a school day. It's an all day trip for us. Sigh.

But we did go to BN last night to pick up your book. I posted pics of your book displays on my FB page & tagged you.

Hope the tour is going well! Don't let your head get too big by all the crowds. =)

I got Scorch Trials the day it came out, but I didn't have time to read it until this weekend...all I can say is, WOW! That was amazing. Definitely better than Maze Runner...and I didn't think that was possible.
Now, if only the next book could be released a little sooner??? I'm already going into withdrawal without any new material to read!

If you already finished THE DEATH CURE, could that mean the release dates of the last Maze book and the 4th Reality book release dates can flop next year?

Oh, and here's my theory for The Death Cure:

I don't think this Cure is actually going to cure death. I think it's going to kill everyone, since they're all probably about to go insane. Yes, it's morbid, but, hey, Maze is pretty dark anyway.

Alexander said...

Yep its still not in Calgary

No no no, Matt Hayes, Newt simply can not die. Newt is awesome. Therefore, he must not die. You hear that Dashner? It's not too late to make changes I hope...

Let us know if you are making the books a movie series because I'll be in line for the movies like 3 weeks ahead of the first showing.
