Harry Potter and the Maze Runner

No, that's not the name of the 8th book in the HP series, and no, I'm not trying to start a rumor that there will BE an 8th book. But I did just save a bunch of money by switching to Geico. Haha. Okay, that joke's run old.

By the way, you may have noticed, I've blogged TWICE this week. Where is my applause?

I just wanted to announce something cool that some of you can look for. Do you live in the following cities: Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Washington DC, or San Francisco?

Yes, I understand that you don't live in ALL of those cities. But one of them?

For the next two weeks, they are showing a book trailer for The Maze Runner trilogy before the new Harry Potter movie and giving out DVDs that have the longer trailer and other promotional materials for my books and a few others (Eragon, Nicholas Flamel, Golden Compass, etc.).

That's all I know. I don't know which theaters or anything like that, but I'd love to hear from anyone who happens to be there to witness it. Tell us in the comments! I'm sad that it's not where I live, because that'd be really awesome to see my book up on the big screen in any form. Maybe one day. Wink, wink.

Hey, if you missed my last post, check it out: CLICK HERE. I'm giving away a signed book (a comment here OR there counts)...

And if you don't yet, come follow me on Twitter (CLICK HERE) and/or Friend me on Facebook (CLICK HERE).

Now go and start prepping that stomach of yours to consume as much food as possible next week!

DUDE! So hoping I see it tonight! I'll let you know.

By the way, your book trailer is coming to Dallas, but when are YOU coming to Dallas? We Texans aren't feeling the love. And we have guns down here, so you don't want to make us upset. ;-)

(edited to fix the atrocious misuse of you're/your)

It would be very cool to see your book on the big screen!

I wish I lived in one of those cities too. Okay, not really. But I wish I was at least visiting one of those cities so I could catch it!

PS Old jokes are the best.

Well shoot! I want a CD with your book trailer on it!

Love the shirts in the previous post, and BRAVO for posting twice this week! I have had a hard time with that lately! ;)

Are you going to the midnight show of HP?

Kristina Barnes♥ said...

LOL, oh, you crack me up all the time. <3 Don't stop that joke, please! Haha. That would be awesome if that WAS the name of the 8th HP book, though. Mashup between HP and MZ. I'd totally buy it. :)

Also. *applause and throws confetti and streamers and cake at everyone* Yay for blogging twice this week! :D

I live near LA, but I won't be seeing Harry Potter there. Seems a bit excessive, driving an hour to watch a movie... Unless I went to the red carpet premiere, then that wouldn't be bad. But since I'm not.... :P

Unfortunately I live in the UK, so I'll just sit, drink my tea and in a while I'll queue impatiently for the third book!

I'm in Chicago and am seeing HP7 in IMAX tonight at nine (they're letting students at my school see it early for a last-minute accuracy check). I'll be sure to report back!

wink wink? Tell us!

Answers from the last post: I am thankful for my daddy. He's been working in Afghanistan for a year, and just came home Sunday!!! For Christmas we are building a house, and I'm hoping to get my own room!

Clap, clap, clap.

That's freaking insane. My guess is your book sales are going to ROCKET through the roof.

By the way, your birthday's coming up. How's the drums, we haven't had an update in a while.

*APPALAUSES!!!*
Congrats Dashner. You just won the blog-twice-in-week award. Your prize is an invisble-not-so-real trip to go see your book trailer on a big screen. Have fun.

I'm going tomorrow to see Harry Potter....and I envy all of you lucky ducks who get to go to the midnight premeire...

So when am I going to get that signed book?? =)

I just wanted to let you know that I finished The Scorch Trials today and absolutely loved it! What a ride! I really can't wait to see what happens in The Death Cure!
Well done!
Even though I don't celebrate Thanksgiving, living in Australia -I am grateful for The Book Depository for two reasons: 1. I was able to get both The Maze Runner and The Scorch Trials through them ( I had not luck finding it here in book stores) 2. You can't go past free shipping and great prices!
Enjoy all of your up coming festivities!

Report back from the HP7 IMAX special presentation I saw in Chicago:

No dice.

But I think that is a function of
a) IMAXiness
b) it was a special preview showing.

It was awesome, though. My favorite movie in the series yet (though it had its flaws).

Hey James I have a question.

I kinda have a manuscript that is 50,000 words long. Basically I was wondering who I should approach to read through my manuscript and look for grammatical/spelling errors.

If you could help me out than I would owe you a favor.

I understand that reading through a 50,000 word manuscript takes a lot of work. I was thinking I could pay my high school English teacher to edit my manuscript. Us this a bad idea?

Hey, Anonymous, there are several writers out there that will read your MS for free and give you feedback. Go to kidlit.com and occassionally Mary will do a post dedicated to this where people can swap reads. (You scratch their backs, they scratch yours). I could help out, too, if you like. Just email me at kathrynroberts (at) hotmail (dot) com. I'm always willing to help out when I'm not too busy.

Wow. That is excellent news. What a great feeling that must be.

Why did they skip over Salt Lake? Your trailer will steal the show given how slow Harry Potter 7-1 is!

Kudos!

I saw the trailer yesterday in Peoria, but it made me think The Scorch Trials MOVIE was coming out in 2011... did I get that wrong?

James,
First off- I adore the books! Keep writing! I try to tell myself not to read them in a sitting... but... it never works out. *sigh*
Well, I didn't know how to contact you, so here I am, in the comments! You probably wont end up reading this- nonetheless replying to this- but I have some questions for you. You see, I am trying to challenge myself by writing a manuscript for a book (at least 365 pages) in a year while balancing high school life and my sanity in the hopes I'll learn how the heck to finish something. Anyways, here's my questions:
1. What do you do to think up plots?
2. How do you organize your story when you plan it out, if you plan at all?
3. What would be your most important piece of advice when writing, if you could only tell me one thing?
I understand if you don't reply, but if you do- well, thanks! Thanks a ton! :)

I LOVE YOUR BOOKS. But it totally broke my heart when Chuck died. He was my favourite...

Sigh. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that Chuck's death symbolized not only sacrifice, but the loss of innocence. Oh well. At least he won't be in danger of contracting The Flare!

well ive finished both the Maze Runner and the scorch trials. oh and Mr. Dashner(u signed my book{on ur tour promoting the Scorch Trials} in Chesterfield, Missori at about 10:08p.m.(yeah its that important to me)at barnes and nobles[IM LANDON PIERCE]and it was the first booksigning i had ever been to and still is. I was on page 228, Chapter 39, when you signed it.)I also figured out your "riddle". SPOILER ALERT!!You told me that Teresa was going to do something very bad to Thomas. It turns out that she had to do it to keep WICKED from killing Thomas, no matter how much it broke Teresa's and Thomas's hearts. I JUST CAN'T WAIT UNTIL THE NEXT BOOK, The Death Cure, COMES OUT!!!!!! XD :) ;) =) :p :P +__+ =P =p ;p ;P

Bummer! Don't live in or near any of those cities! :/ Oh well. That's awesome for you though publicity wise!!

I just finished The Scorch Trials and it was freaking amazing!!!! I'm sure you know that already but yeah it was. I can hardly wait for The Death Cure to come out!

I have a question for you. I have a YA book blog and I was wondering if you would let me interview you for it! I was trying to find a way to contact you to ask and this seemed like the easiest way. Anyway if your interested you can email me to let me know and I'll just send you back the questions!

Here's a link to my blog: That Hapa Chick

Thanks so much for writing AMAZING books!

Oh my gosh... I just finished reading the Scorch Trials... OMG!!! I literally just finished it like a couple of minutes ago!!! I cannot stress this enough, I love your Maze Runner series so much I just can't explain-how-why-its just... I can't... I... I LOVE IT SO MUCH! My language arts teacher recommended The Maze Runner for me at first i thought I was going to hate it, as soon as I got home I had already read half of it! I seriously couldn't stop reading it! Every day that I went to school during the time of reading these two books, I would always tell my L.A teacher how this is the best book in the universe and how I LOVED it. After I finished the first book, I was wandering around in Barnes and Nobles and I saw... The Scorch Trials! I immideatly flew towards it and grabbed it. I was like holy klunk it's the second Maze Runner book, then as you can guess I bought it. The second book... I went crazy reading it because I fell in love with it even more than the first at every part I'm like OMG! My favoritest character is Minho! I love him sooo much he's just awesome!!! During the whole Scorch Trials book I'm hoping he doesn't die and he didn't! But now I have to hope, no, prey/beg that he doesn't die and I have to wait almost another year before I can find out! It's killing me! Minho must live!!!!!! Your books are the best- Alexandra (Obsessive Minho lover)

Ps: If Minho dies I will be sooo depressed that I will cry for 7 months!

Pss: The part that terrified me the most was "Rose took my nose I suppose, and it really blows." That just completely freaked me out!

Psss: I'm going to use your words from now on!

Pssss: YOUR BOOKS ARE THE BEST!
