Upcoming Events and Etc.

I wish this post had all the many things I want to tell you about regarding what's coming down the pipeline in my career. Ya know, things like the cover for The Death Cure, what projects might come after that, other... stuff...

But, you'll have to be patient, I'm sorry. Patience is a virtue, ya know. Stay close, though. I don't want you to miss anything. There'll be lots to talk about. Soon.

At the end of this post I give you some absolutely free pop culture recommendations. But first...

There ARE a few events on the horizon, however, and I thought I'd pop in here and make sure they're all laid out. I hope I get to meet some of you...

Saturday, Feb. 5, 1:00 pm
Um, that's TOMORROW
Barnes and Noble, Southtown Mall
Sandy UT, 1:00 pm
This is an Authorpalooza, with over 40 authors, none of whom I'll name because I'd certainly leave out a friend!

Thursday through Saturday
Feb. 17 - 19
LTUE, a symposium at BYU (Harman Bldg)
I'm the Guest of Honor (hey, quit snickering!), so I'll be on lots of panels and will be giving the keynote address on Saturday at 11:00 am.
I'll also be doing a reading (first chapter or two from The Death Cure) at 10:00 am on Friday.
For more details and a full schedule, CLICK HERE.

April 12- 15
TLA (Texas Library Association)
Austin, TX
I'm not sure yet of my schedule, but I DO know I'm going!

May 6-7
Storymakers Conference
Salt Lake City, UT
For details, CLICK HERE.

May 9-10
Battle of the Books
St. Louis, MO
Sorry, I don't know many details, but I'll be there.

June 4
Festival of Books
BYU

Those are the only events that are solid on the schedule, but other things will happen, especially as we get closer to the release of Book 3 this fall.

Absolutely free pop culture advice:

Anyone else watch Downton Abbey on PBS? I am officially an old person, because I loved it. Blame my mother.

I'm reading an incredible book. Matterhorn, by Karl Marlantes. I've always been interested in the Vietnam War, and this is about as authentic as you can get. Not for the faint of heart.

If you want a funny, leave-your-brain-behind movie to watch, go see The Green Hornet. I was pleasantly surprised (but I wouldn't call it a kid's movie) and laughed a lot.

If you'd rather be creeped out and see Anthony Hopkins channel Hannibal Lecter one last time, go see The Rite.

And I can't say this enough: go see The King's Speech. One of the best movies ever. I'm not lying. Ever. Unless you're eight, and then you might be bored.

Finally, I'm officially the last person on earth to join Netflix. I usually see movies in theaters, so I never got around to it. But... what? This is for real? 10 bucks a month? Unlimited streaming of bazillions of movies and TV shows? For real? Way too good to be true. I may have to stop writing books.....

(No, I'm not fishing for "you better NOT quit writing!!!" comments. Don't be silly.)

Have a great day and a great weekend.

Nice...thanks for the update. Looks like a great schedule.

Would love to try and make it out to Sandy tomorrow but I already have something going at 2 up in Kaysville.

I'll have to catch you at another event. I (finally) read Maze Runner a couple of weeks ago and loved it...have passed it on to other family members and they're loving it too. No I just have to dive into the Scorch Trials and see what happens next.

Great stuff. :)

I'll see you at LTUE in Feb. Won't make it to Storymakers this year, though.

I say it anyway: don't stop writing!

Also: Chicago in the fall is LOVELY.

Wow, you literally are the last person to join Netflix. I got the app on my iPad and watch the 24 seasons. Most TV shows are free, it is a bit blurry, though, but I'm a whiner.

May show up tomorrow.

Will end up coming to LTUE.

And one way or another I want to go to some of those other events.

I have unfortunatly been addicted to Netflix for several months. If I'm not watching a TV show, im browsing for interesting movies to watch instantly to my laptop at mcdonalds.

I hate to admit it, but you beat me to Netflix. Yes, seriously. I echo M.P.'s comments about Reality 4. I am SO ready. And from the looks of that schedule, I guess it's a darn good thing Montana booked you a year and a half ahead of time. We'd never be able to get you now! :-)

Best of luck with the upcoming engagements. Any chance you'll make it to Atlanta for an event? My kids and I would be thrilled!

Dove into The Maze Runner last night -- loving it so far.

Have a great weekend!

Sorry, I'm not allowed to go see The King's Speech. It's rated R...
GO STEALERS!!
My comment is therefore finished.
I just finished the Uglies series as a sidenote. GREAT books....but not as good as yours of course...:) But very good, I would HIGHLY recommened because your guy's writing styles are really similar.

Awesome. I may have to come see you again.

I MISS Netflix. It is pretty great. We need to get it again. Mainly I'm an old movie kinda gal. 30s 40s movies are my weakness. But it did provide many a 'datenight' for me and my hubby.

When are you going to visit NYC?!?!?

I like how about 80% of these comments are about the small section about Netflix..
But anyways. I just passed The Maze runner over to my mom. She said she's loving it so far. You're terrific and I think if you stopped writing before The Death Cure came out, I might just die.
I can't wait until the fall! But I must. *sigh*
Love your books. :)

Nice Schedule. However, you wouldn't happen to know when the next one in the Dallas area is would you? Can't wait for "The Death Cure". See Ya!

Reading the scorch trials. It's awesome, had to order it over the internet though cos it's not available in the uk until ages :(

I just finished Maze Runner and Scorch Trials.

They're both amazing reads.

Deja Vu. Last year at this time my kids and I were fretting and speculating about the final installment in the Hunger Games trilogy and felt as though we couldn't possibly wait until its summer release.

That's been replaced with fretting and speculating about the final Maze Runner book!

When is The Death Cure out? After reading the first 2 books in the last week I'm exhibiting symptoms of physical withdrawal.

Heard The Rite was stupid. and I've been reccomended to see the King's Speech about 400 times... so maybe I should see it?
I've read TMR 4 times and lent out TST to a friend before Thanksgiving and he still hasn't returned it... no bother, I'll just buy a new one and maybe just maybe it'll get on a bestseller's list.
I've also been quite addicted to fanfiction (btw-I wonder if you read any) and there are like so little fanfics for TMR, but there is one that's really nice here's the link: (if you care) http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5844573/1/The_Nightmare_Begins
I really can not effing wait for The Death Cure book cover... I've liked TMR since it first came out and had to wait for TST.... btw, I hate waiting for books ahha.

First of all, I wish that you were attending events in California so we had a better chance at seeing you! Maybe we could get a spot on an upcoming tour of yours. *hint hint* I am a reading teacher/book reviewer/webmaster for a kids book review site and would LOVE to meet you. My students love The Maze Runner!

I saw The King's Speech on a whim and was pleasantly surprised! It was brilliantly done with incredible actors. I am glad they didn't "Hollywood" it do death with over the top information. They stuck with the true issues and delivered it! I hope it wins all sorts of awards.

Netflix is wonderful...if you aren't busy with books all of the time. I have satellite with DVR and hardly watch a thing. I would prefer to be snuggled in bed with books surrounding me.

Good luck to you as a guest speaker!

Hey! First time posting but wanted to say I read TMR and TST and got hooked! Definitely got my friend into reading them, too.

She told me she read TST all through watch (we are military) and couldn't put it down (shh, don't tell!). We can't wait for the last installment.

Oh, and the NetFlix thing? I got into it recently, too. Definitely love watching new shows, only so many others thing I would like to see are DVD! Darn!

Happy Writing!

I am so signed up for TLA! Cannot wait to see you! Are you going to sign books? Are you only going to sign a limited number? If so, how many? I went last year and Suzanne Collins was there and only signed like 200 and I did not get my books signed... Please be kind to us teens, no limited signing number please! <3
