The Death Cure Trailer, Tour

I can't believe it. The book finally comes out tomorrow. It's here! Some of you will be reading it in a matter of hours when it becomes available on e-readers at midnight. I know, because you've been telling me on Twitter and Facebook. I'm just as excited as you are!!

To add to that excitement, check out this really cool book trailer that Random House commissioned. To avoid spoilers of the third book, it's a quick glimpse of Thomas in the white room, remembering the terror of The Scorch Trials. Watch it:

There's also a cool video game that they've developed that can be played on either your computer or your phone. Look for that soon.

Tomorrow is the day. I thought I'd have an amazing speech and all kinds of profound things to say. But really I just feel kind of surreal. This story has been bouncing around in my head for years, and everyone finally gets to read the ending. I really hope you like it.

I'm going to be on tour the next three weeks, and I want to stay connected with you guys. I'll be doing lots of updates via Twitter and Facebook, giving you a glimpse of what it's like to be out there. Don't follow me there yet? Well, then...

And, finally, to check out all my tour dates and appearances, please CLICK HERE. I really want you guys to come out and meet me!!

Please let me know what you think of everything in the comments. The trailer, the book, the tour, whatever. I love to hear from you. Talk again soon, and happy reading!

The trailer... just wow. It was perfect. If the book becomes a movie, can that guy play Thomas in it, too?

I'm SO excited for the book tomorrow! I know it's going to be incredible!

Unfortunately, you're not touring nearby, but maybe next time!

A video game? I'm not a huge fan, but I will definitely play one based off of your books! (:

CAN NOT WAIT! We, me, hubby and our 9 year old are looking forward to it! Yes, we know all parts of the books aren't appropriate for a 9 year old, we are reading it to him and skipping over the inappropriate stuff.

Hmmm... I think maybe I'll be buying this one... yeah... maybe...

In the middle of it right now. Nothing what I expected and I won't spoil it for anybody by saying if that is a good or bad thing. My only disappointment is that there is cussing. I know they have been for the past two books in very roundabout ways but they are actually swearing now. Big disappointment.

Penmaster said...

In book two, I was totally team Teresa, but now I do t even know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! spoiler alert: I really hated Brenda's guts but now she isn't so bad which confusing and agghh?!?!?? GALLY?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Chuck...

AHHHHHH I cant believe its over!

Spoiler alert...
I CANNOT FORGIVE YOU FOR THIS BOOK!!! What were you thinking? Kill Teresa, yeah great. I was totally terasa all the way. And Thomas was just so detached...

penmaster said...

I really don't know how I feel about this book. For one I can't imagine how you came up with such an intracitely woven plot. Congrats on that part. Umm...Teresa...yeah don't wanna spoil anything but NOT COOL.

Kayla said...

Wow. That was fantastic--and completely worth ignoring studying for my Neurology lab tomorrow. I mean--I love Newt--but trying not to spoil anything--the entire arc with his character was so intense and heartbreaking. I kind of started to respect Thomas a little more this time around too, and the action was fantastic. Could not stop reading.
Of course, there's the ending. Not sure if it's happy or not--in a lot of ways it isn't I suppose, which matches the rest of the series (also, I lost a bit of my love for Brenda, even if she is from Canada). Still, wonderful end to the series (although I would LOVE a prequel :D)

Kayla said...

*Addition to previous comment. Respect Thomas a little more in that he becomes a bit more...proactive? But there's also the fact that he gets just a LITTLE more unhinged/violent. Not that I minded.

My name is Rachael Cherish Stewart and I am seventeen and 9/10 years old.I am Boyd Waters niece and on one fine summer day I borrowed a book from him and consequently I just happen to be your biggest fan. This book was called Maze Runner. "Like Hunger games." He said.
But it wasn't like hunger games.
It was better.
I fell in love with the characters. Each was beautifully and individually developed to an extent that reached somewhere between my heart and my mind and wrapped itself entirely around it.
The idea of Maze Runner is captivating and unique, and ultimately; shocking. (which is the best part.)
Thank you for writing.
You are inspiring.
Love,
Rachael

Had fun at the launch. You're very personable and have a great sense of humor. It was torture to wait nearly 48 hours, but I will finally be starting to read the book tonight.

So excited.

Congratulations on a fabulous release!

I can't wait to see you in Vancouver on the 26th! I'm getting out of school early to run over there as soon as possible, 'cause there is no way I'm missing out on this!
Congratulations on an amazing trilogy, it seriously blew my mind on how well done and unique the story was. You truly are one of my inspirations for science-fiction writing!

Our family had fun at Kings English. We are all fighting about who would get to read it first (I got to!!!) I loved it and now I have to wait for the rest of my family to finish so we can talk about it.

James,
I had the priveledge of hearing you speak at a conference in Billings,MT last week. I bought your book, The Maze Runner (which you autographed) for my children. My 13 year old daughter just finished it, proclaiming "It's even better than the Hunger Games", which is saying a lot, since that is currently her favorite book. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to come to Montana. Good luck with your future endeavors. We are anxiously awaiting the movie!

The book was fantastic Mr. Dashner! You've done it again. Great ending to the series, although I'm sad it's over. I wondered if you might ever sign fan mail since I couldn't make it to any of your tour dates? If not, I won't bother sending anything. You're a great author and I hope you write more!

Just finished your book a minute ago. SO impressed as usual! I loved your books and I'm so sad the trilogy is over. Hopefully the movie will be okay bringing people's imagination from a book to screen is a scary idea! Best of luck!

Wow! I feel like The Death Cure was a wonderful ending to the series. I was able to download the book on my kindle and I was able to finish it in 2 days. I couldn't put it down! I really felt connected to the characters and was very sad when some of them died.
I'm both excited and anxious for the movie to come out. Movies haven't ever done justice to the book for me and it tends to be disappointing. Plus I am a young filmmaker (highschool) and as I finished I intently wanted to be able to create a film out of my own imagination. Especially those final scenes.. Incredibly intense.
All together I'm really pleased with the whole series and I thank you, Mr. Dashner, for creating such a trilogy.

FILMING THE MAZE RUNNER IMPORTANT READ!

Dear James I have incredibly fallen in love with your Maze Runner Trilogy! I find myself lost in the books over and over again. Mr. Dashner, I would LOVE to direct the movie. Or at least take part of the filming/post production. The books are meant to be told the way they are written. I would love to portray your story through my lens!

I don't like the ending to The Death Cure... your series is amazing and then you ended it like THAT? ...

It was soooooooooooo great to finally be able to meet you!!! I was at the barnes and noble book signing today in Georgia. The one with your high school English teacher (which was also very neat). I was the very first person in line (although I don't expect you to remember me :) it was awesome to be able to speak to you and ask you some questions. I love how you would just let people say whatever and ask you as many questions as they wanted, and you also personalized all six of my books. I have to say thank you for that. And Im not really sure if I should mention that thing you said would be announced on Monday but again, for that I have to say THANK YOU! I am so way completely over excited about that.

NOTE: I know there is one person who always asks about the next thirteenth reality book, I asked him and it will be coming out in may :). Thank goodness right?

The Death Cure was so incredible! I loved the book! But when is the 4th book to the thirteenth reality coming out? I want to read it so bad!!

I'm almost finishing this book... but I have to say... reading what happened to Newt really broke my heart and made me stop my lecture. Until the last moment, I really thought he could be saved... He was such a nice person. I felt so sad... I don't know how I grew so attached to him and reading his end was incredibly painful... Why would you kill such character?
