And the Winner is...

First of all, I really appreciate the big participation in the ARC giveaway last week.

I've been thinking ever since I posted the contest that it was kind of pretentious to make you follow me on twitter etc. Its purpose may seem obvious: I want to promote my books as best I can. But, I can honestly say that my favorite part of being an author is keeping in touch with my readers and hearing from you. So that was an equally big reason.

Anyway, my publicist Noreen Marchisi was very impressed by the response, so Random House is providing more ARCs to giveaway. I don't know how many just yet, but I feel pretty comfortable announcing FIVE winners today. Then if they have more, we'll do other things over the next couple of months until the book comes out. (October 6th!)

So, without further ado (who came up with that stupid phrase anyway?), here are the winners:

Magenta
Brooke Reviews
A Flight of Minds
The Brain Lair
Stephanie Humphreys

If the five of you would please email me at gmail dot com with your address, we'll be set. The gmail name is dashnerjames.

Thanks again - and I'm really sorry everyone couldn't win. But hopefully we'll have more chances soon.

congrats to those who won.... james Just wondering was this contest rigged how did you choose the winners.....

James Dashner said...

Haha, Angie. Like you needed to enter it anyway!!!!

#1, not rigged. Random. Otherwise you would've won of course! :-)

Yes! Thank you! And congrats to all the other lucky winners too. :)

I think Maze Runner is worth the wait and the cost. Now that I didn't win, I can say that.

Go Random House for stepping it up for you. That's awesome.

Oh... my... GOD!!! Am I dreaming?! This can't be possible... but it is!!! As far as I know, I am the only blogger who calls myself Magenta and regularly comments on your blog, so it has to be me!!!

I cannot thank you enough, James!!! Honestly, I could say thank you a hundred times, and I'd still think you didn't get it. I'm just so excited! I promise to email you very soon with my address.

So this was a random pick, huh? I would have liked to think it was my cleverness of being the very last person to comment on the Taiwan post and say I read a few chapters of your Dark Infinity, but since it's random I won't take credit. I'll just bask in my power of lucky. ^,^

Looks like I came really close to guessing correctly that you'd get 100 comments. You got 91. Well, you sure got a load more followers, so that's a huge plus for you.

You don't have to do it, but here's a possible tip: Maybe you could link the winners' names to their blogs? Because more likely than not, we'll all probably write a very excited post on our blogs about how we got an ARC of MAZE RUNNER and we can promote it for you. Good idea, no?

This Dashnog word is too good to ignore: Acticism (ACT-uh-SI-zum): an impression or a particular scene. Usage: "Okay, do an acticism of a person jumping up and down in extreme excitement." ^,~ OR, "In this next acticism, the heroine will be flabbergasted that she was picked as a winner for a very special contest." ^_~

Congrats to those who won. That really was a cool idea. Another example of the Dash-Meister showing us what an all around nice guy he is. (aka the Dashinator)

Congrats to all the winners! Better luck next time for me, I guess. Enjoy! :)

Congrats to the winners. Enjoy the read and then remember to post a review on Amazon dot com. And, James, hope you had a great vacation and enjoyed that extremely long line of comments. Love that we have two new Dashnog words in this moderately small string of comments.

Dashnog: Clome {Kloam}- the person who would have been the winner in an alternate reality. Usage: And the clomes are Graham in reality 13and Deb in reality 11 and Donna in reality 5. Thank you all for participating...lol.

Congratualtions to the winners!

James Dashner said...

Oh, the pain and anguish of hearing from the losers. I mean, non-winners. Sorry guys!

Graham, you already have an ARC you dipwad. But thanks for pimping my book. You're The Man.

Magenta, you deserve it! (Not that the rest of you don't - ack, it's so hard to do this....)

James, I wanted to know if you got my email? I want to post a link to my review of MAZE here but out of respect for you wanted to make sure it didn't contain anything in it you didn't want shown. Let me know as I'm anxious to post it. Thanks, Dave

Dave said...

And congrats to all the winners! You BETTER drop whatever it is you are doing, ya know work, sleep, etc. (All those unimportant things) to read the book as soon as it comes! Its worth it! Dave

I'm so pouting.

But congratulations to all those who won!

Luckies!

Yeah but what about my mom? All good boys look out for their moms :-)

Hey no sweat Jimbo, I'll pimp your book all day long. Just wait until DB starts carrying Maze this fall, I'll work it into my daily to-do list. "Receive manifests in by 11, all product on the floor by twelve, fill sections 3-4 times, recommend Maze to at least 10 people."

Hi.

Uh, are any of the other winners having trouble emailing James? I've just tried two times, and dashnerjames@gmail.com doesn't seem to work.

Can you clear this up, Dude? Please? I want my ARC. ~_~

Dave said...

Magenta, perhaps his email address is a clue like one of Tick's. Let's see, he put the @gmail.com before the dashnerjames. Knowing this is backwards format for an email address, perhaps so is the dashnerjames, so...as tick would assume maybe its not dashnerjames@gmail.com, but jamesdashner@gmail.com ? I don't know, just seems like something James would do. I don't know, but maybe its worth a try :O) if I'm right maybe I can get an ARC of the 3rd 13th? Ok, I know that's a stretch, but try it anyway.

Hey guys,
I started a book review site with my fam. And the first review of many to come is on none other than..."The Maze Runner" please, please go to our site and check it out. If you could sign up and maybe leave a coment, I'd appreciate that also. Its www.thelateinergangbookreviewspot.blogspot.com check it out and since its new, if you have any suggestions for the site, I'd love to hear them. There will be many more reviews and fun stuff as well as updates to the site to come. I'd really appreciate it. Fellow Dashners fans, could ya check a brother out? Thanks guys!
Dave

Hey Dave, I think I figured out the email problem. And it didn't have to do with doing anything backwards. Thanks for the tip, though.

I'm not checking out your Maze Runner Review either. It might have spoilers. I don't have the book in my hands just yet. :P

Dave said...

MAGENTA AND EVERYONE ELSE RE: MY REVIEW,
you do not have to worry about my review having spoilers, I had james review it first for that exact purpose. He gave me the green light to post the link here and James if you are around, could you please vouch for that. Its actually quite good from what I hear. Like I said, i had an expert (the one and only Mr dashner himself) review it and he actually liked it :O)
Dave

Dave said...

As a matter of fact, im i happen to be the luckiest guy on earth, ive actually asked James to post under my review, so we will see about that, as I dont know if he is allowed to do that by his pubs, but he can def vouch that there are no spoilers, just a good old fashioned review. I PROMISE!
Dave

Magenta said...

Dave,

As you'll probably see under your Maze Runner post, I just commented you. I admit that that was one awesome review! I hope I didn't hurt your feelings by doubting you. Sorry.

Please people, check out Dave's review! It reveals little to NO spoilers at all, and is very well written. I can vouch for him. ^,~

Magenta,
No sweat at all. i wasnt upset, just didnt want you to miss the review, as I did get an approval from James first for just that reason, i didnt want to put any spoilers in there he didnt want in there. And for some strange reason, i think one night when i was on here late at night, i might have clicked on your name and went to your site already...i have to check again, but i think i did. weird. anyway thanks for the kind words on the revie, and thanks for the plug on the site and really the one who deserves the plug is JAMES. There are a ton of books I need to review and I had a really hard time deciding which to start with. Well, it was hard at first, then it was an easy choice :O) Thanks James!

I'm GLAD I lost. Because a true Dashner fan wants to buy their own copy (and two for everyone on their Christmas list too...)!

Still. Phooey.

James Dashner said...

Good attitude Kimberly!

Aah Kimberly has it wrong. The true Dashner fan wins an ARC and buys a hardcover. They then give one away to a lucky person who will hopefully also pay it forward...:) At least that's what I'm doing!
