Taiwan and ARC giveaway

UPDATE: I may have good news about upping the number of ARCs to be given away (see #8 below). Stay tuned.
1. We sold rights to Taiwan for MAZE! How cool is that going to be, to see my book written in the Chinese characters? Too bad I won't be able to read it. The publisher is Sun Color Culture Publishing, and they purchased the "complex character rights" (as opposed to simplified character rights). Someone familiar with the language wanna educate us? (The list now includes Russia, France, Greece, and Taiwan. More soon we hope!)

2. Another cool and completely unexpected thing: The Romantic Times likes MAZE and is going to do a feature/interview on me and the book this October. Yeah, that's right. I'm the next Nora Roberts. (Actually, they highlight quite a range of fiction, but still. The Romantic Times. I'm gonna milk that one for a very long time.)

3. Book 3 of THE 13TH REALITY is now over 60,000 words. Tick just did something you won't believe in Chapter 33.

4. I signed up for Twitter a long time ago but haven't ever really used it. I'm gonna give it a shot, throwing out a tweet when I have ridiculous and embarrassing thoughts. Or when something cool happens. And for announcements and updates. My Twitter name is jamesdashner, and to follow me, CLICK HERE.

5. I'm also on Facebook, where you can friend me or "become a fan." How pretentious.

6. Also, make sure you become a follower of this blog! Just scroll down the right side of the blog here until you see the "follow" button then click it.

7. This all makes it sound like the Internet is consuming my life. I promise it's not - writing books is my main goal in life. This blog is the central point of keeping in touch with you guys, doing it two to three times a week. Everything else is just peripheral (wow, such big words) and takes very little time.

8. Okay, I have in my hands a nice shiny ARC (advance copy) of THE MAZE RUNNER, from the reprint Random House did with the actual cover (the cover wasn't complete in time for the first printing, which just had a black background with white letters). I'm going to sign and personalize this puppy and mail it to someone.

Here's how to enter: sign up to follow me on at least one of the three things mentioned above (twitter, facebook, blog) and then leave a comment on this post telling me you did it. And to keep the comments from boring us to tears, you also have to briefly tell us about the last book you read and whether or not we should also read it. (If you don't want to enter the contest, you can still do this last part!) UPDATE: A commenter had a good idea: you get one entry for each of the three things you do.

We're going away for a couple of days, so I won't be able to post again until Monday. The contest is open until then and I'll announce the winner. I will, of course, make sure the eventual winner did indeed sign up for something, so as to keep it fair to all those who really make the effort.

9. If this is a stupid idea, please ignore and go about your business. (And blame it on my friend, Bree Despain, author of the upcoming THE DARK DIVINE - Dec 22, 2009. She did something similar.)

10. If this is NOT a stupid idea, I just might give away two copies...... (And you can still blame Bree.)

NOT a stupid idea. I would love to get my hands on that ARC, well I, and all the little girls in my house. ;) I am a twitterer as well so I followed you and I'm a fan and a friend on facebook...I will also foloow your blog even though mine only has 4 followers..LOL (Does this seem stalkerish to anyone else? hmmm)

I truly hope no one ever has to read the last book I read which was, DRUM ROLL PLEASE>>> Barbie and the Dress-Up Day. Yeah, I know, don't be jealous..It's an early reader I read with my 6 year old. YEAH. Until I get my book finished I am not reading anything! (except of course, Maze Runner, after I win it :)I am a chapter away and I keep rewriting the darn thing!

Melony said...

Oh - and Congrats on Taiwan!!!!

Melanie Goldmund said...

I'd love to get my hands on that ARC, too, so I've signed up to follow your blog under the name Melanie G.

The last book I read was Revelation by C.J. Sansom, a rich, detailed historical mystery featuring a hunchbacked lawyer during the reign of Henry VIII. Fascinating! There is some, ah, interesting language, and a few scenes that could be described as gory, but I'd still recommend it.

Kimberly Vanderhorst said...

I want it. A lot.

Well, had already done the follower and facebook thing, AND you're on my highly exclusive blog roll, but I added you to my twitter thingy. Dang but using twitter makes me feel such a geek.

Recently read Only You Can Save Mankind by Terry Pratchett. Middle grade(ish) but quite absorbing. Hilarious, as is all of Pratchett's work, and also quirky and mind bending. Definitely worth a read.

This is not a stupid idea! It's a great idea. I would LOVE to win an ARC of your book. And congrats on yet another translation--that's amazing!

I've been following you on blogger. Yay! I haven't taken the Twitter plunge yet so I can't follow you on there (unless you say it'll give me an extra entry :P).

The last book I read was "He Who Sings Last" by Lisa Lair DiRosso which releases on the 28th. (My review is posted on my blog.) I would recommend it if you're a 'cozy mystery' fan.

Garrett Matthews said...

Firstly, Congrats on Taiwan. Secondly I'm following you blog, and a friend on facebook. I would really like a ARC of the Maze. So, the last book I read, you probably wouldn't want to hear about, it might bore you more. But the book I'm currently reading is Nation, by Terry Prachet.
So far, I like it a lot. It's about the Island Boy named Mau, whose Nation is swept away by a huge wave. He then returns to his island, and more and more people arrive. Don't want to give to much away, but I think you should all read it, I really like it.

Joanna said...

Such great news for you to have such great success with your book. It is making me so excited to read it. What a wonderful idea to give away a ARC who wouldn't want it! I am a fan on Facebook and follow your blog.

The last book I read was Dragon Spear by Jessica Day George and I loved it. It was a great way to end the series.

Oh and I can't wait to see what Tick does in Chapter 33.

i'm erin. said...

Me me me! PIck Me! Ok, seriously, I've been trying to score an ARC of the Maze Runner for a couple months now. My mom (oh this is a secret so don't share) who works at a well known bookstore, was going to grab the ARC for me to read and some other CAC (crazy Arc Crook) took it first. Whatever.

I signed up to follow you on your blog. I actually am on your facebook too, but I don't do twitter...it's lame.

Last book I read: The Forrest of Hands and Teeth

You should know it because your agent also agented that book.

My thoughts: Good...until you get to the end! Suck. I hope there's a sequel that redeems.

Reminder: PICK ME!

Unknown said...

It's a stupid idea. You should totally let us all mud wrestle for it.

I'm just going to say up front that I would win. I also fight dirty, but that's okay, 'cause it's mud.

Dedee said...

this is so not a stupid idea!

I just finished "Gentle's Hollow" a coming of age book set in the 60's in the middle of nowhere. I felt it was a good book.

I signed up to be a follower. You should consider yourself honored, since I only officially "follow" one other blog. (Wow, does that sound arrogant! It's just that I don't usually take the time to sign up. It takes something extra special to get me to follow someone, and and ARC of Maze Runner [which my husband wants almost as much as I do] is definitely extra special.)

Magenta said...

1:Wow! 4th language and counting! Taiwanese, huh? It must be fun to think about a book you wrote in those weird characters. ^,~
2:Good luck, Mr. Romantic. Show us how the interview goes sometime later, 'kay?
3:Ooh, I wish I could just finish Book 2 already! The last time I went to the bookstore I only found the first, no second. ~_~
4,5,& 6:I don't like Twitter or Facebook, sorry. But you know me already as a very faithful follower of your blog! ^,^
7: All of us here at Dashner Dude are really grateful you take so much time out of your week to keep us updated on a busy, famous author's life. (Especially me. ^_~)

8, 9,& 10: Ooooooh! ARC! So shiny and awesome! You'll sign it?! Please, I want it!!!
Like I said, I already follow your blog, so does that make me count? (I pray it does.) It's cool how honest everyone is about the last book they read. (Barbie? ^_^ hee hee.)
Uh, the last book I finished was Rich Dad, Poor Dad for Teens, by Robert Kiyosaki. It's a book for teenagers who want to become rich. Or at least earn more money than they get from their allowance. I've read it before, years ago, but I reread it again just the other day. Someday I'll make it rich. I hope... Though my thoughts are usually dominated with becoming a published author, like you!

Pretty please! I've never gotten an ARC before! It would really make my day! (Am I making a good case, or do I sound half-crazy?)

Now being read:

American Lion by Jon Meacham, a biography of Andrew Jackson's White House years. Worth reading, but not a real page turner.

Mission Road by Rick Riordan, a Tres Navarre novel. Riordan has a rare ability to write both for adults and children. The Tres Navarre novels (this is the sixth) still manage to surprise me with twists at the end.

Ranger's Apprentice 5: The Sorcerer of the North by John Flanagan. This series is well written, but not brilliant. The characters are likeable, it has strong moral values, and the author does manage some well planned and not obvious plot twists.

James Dashner said...

Great idea on the one entry per type of follower. (And yes, it does count if you had already done it.) Good idea Jessica Booklover!

I updated the blog post to include this.

Congratulations on Taiwan! It must be awesome to see/know that you'll see your book published in so many languages.

I'd love to win, so I went and did all three! I'm a fan and have friended you on facebook, I'm following you on twitter, and following your blog (I also subscribe through Google Reader). My blog URL is on all three profile pages.

As for my last read - that was a book called In the Wake of the Boatman by Jonathan Scott Fuqua about a young man who struggles to figure out who he is after a damaging childhood and a bad career choice. Not a bad read, but I have read better.

Scott and Natalie said...

I just discovered your blog last week (seems I'm one of many aspiring authors who are now following your blog).

I signed up as a blog follower.

Last book read: Fablehaven (Book 1)
Currently reading My Side of the Mountain to my 7 year old.

Last question, (since this post is on social media) has anybody from this group (including you James) joined the LinkedIn groups around Children's Literature? There are 3 that I'm aware of -- Children's Books, Children's Media, and Children's Publishing. Just curious to hear your thoughts on these groups.

Blog and Facebook- done.

The last book I finished reading was Hunger Games. Must read. Warning- lots of people die.

But who hasn't already read it?

Now reading:

Airman by Eoin Colfer- liking it a lot more than I expected.

From the End of Heaven by Chris Stewart- such a good series. Turns out one of my friends lived in the same town and was friends with him for years. Go Mountain Home, Idaho.

Agent In Old Lace by Tristi Pinkston- met her last Saturday so I had to buy her book and have her sign it. I'm cheesy like that.

Okay, now I need an early birthday present...your book!

I have already started following your blog, I donut like facebook, and am not on twitter so, one entry for me! ok, the book I last read was... I think it was Saga by Conor Kostick. at about 10:00 it will be Inkspell by Cornelia Funke.
Thank you for doing all this stuff James!

James. This is all such awesome news. Congratulations on all the great news lately! (Especially on the print run--good heavens.)

I signed up as your fan on facebook! Please enter me in the contest!

The last book I read was Bill Bryson's The Life and TImes of the Thunderbolt Kid. So funny I sprayed cereal all over the breakfast table this morning while I was reading it.

Also I just signed up to follow your blog, too. Oops. Forgot to mention that. :)

I have been a follower of this blog for several months now and I am a friend/fan on facebook.

The current book I am reading is from Jeffrey S. Savage (aka J. Scott Savage) Dead on Arrival from his Shandra Covington mystery series. So far it is very intriguing. I had to read it because of how the first one ended. I have a very serious question though for you ...How much did you bribe Scott to name one of the police officers Officer Dashner? How cool is that?

WhatBriReads said...

I'm following your blog, and twitter :)

The last book I read was Fairy Tale by Cyn Balog. I'd definitely recommend it, because while it was a story about fairies, it was a unique one that's a bit different from others that I've read.

trish said...

I think I first heard about THE MAZE RUNNER at BEA (I *think*), and I've been dying for it ever since.

I followed your blog.

I followed you on Twitter.

I professed my (future) undying love.

Let me see...that adds up to...9,453 entries. Go me!

Just kidding. Kind of.

Umm, the last book I read was SO GOOD up until the last third, where I was like, Please, you're telling me two 17-year-olds living together with no parents around who lust after each other didn't ever dooo eet? Other than my skepticism over a few things, the book was great. The book was THE FOREST OF HANDS AND TEETH by Carrie Ryan.

I'm currently reading CHILD 44 by Tom Rob Smith. Pretty darn good. What is it about Soviet Russia that's so creepy???

Rachel said...

I've followed/friended on all three. :D

A book I've read most recently was The Silent Room by Walter Sorrels. It was an okay book, so if you want to read it, go ahead, but a book that I reeeally would suggest is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. It's awesome!

Q said...

Grr. I don't have Facebook and I deleted my Twitter months ago. But I am following your blog. Can I have two entries for having followed you before you asked?

I finished Storm Glass, by Maria V. Snyder, this morning. It rocked, but read Poison Study and its sequels before Storm Glass.

Unknown said...

I want it! I want it! But what if I'm *already* a follower on blog, facebook, and Twitter?

The last book I read was "Gone" by Michael Grant and you should most definitely read it. In fact, after I finished it I thought, "James should totally read this! It is exactly for Maze Runner's target audience." I'm not kidding.

Congrats on the Taiwan rights.

Okay, so I've been following your blog forever. And I've been following your Twitter forever too, even when you never said anything there.

So I just fixed the Facebook thing and became a fan and requested to be a friend. (But on Facebook I'm my real name, so hopefully you'll figure that out there.)

Remember what I looked like when you gave us 13th Reality copies at Natasha's house back in January? I'm looking the very same way now!

Opps, I forgot to say what the last book was that I read... The Road by Cormac McCarthy. Wow.. that was hard, but interesting one. (Hard in subject, but very easy word-wise.)

I think you will love being a tweeter.

This is the last book I read: The Peacegiver:How Christ Offers to Heal Our Hearts and Homes, by James L. Ferrell. I gave it a 4 on Goodreads.

I may even give The Maze Runner a FIVE on Goodreads if I ever get my hands on the thing. Hint. Hint. Hint.

I followed your blog over a week ago and I just followed you on Twitter as ParadoxRevealed. I don't have a Facebook account, so I guess I can only get 2 entries.

The last book I read is The Hound of Rowan by Henry H. Neff, an awesome MG fantasy with a bit of science fiction. It's about a school where magically gifted students are taught, but it's very different from Harry Potter and is definitely worth a read.

I CAN'T WAIT to get a chance to read The Maze Runner!!!

AWESOME!!!! I'm in!!! I've been waiting for a chance to win another ARC! OK. I'm a follower on your blog now, and the last book I read is Shadow Puppetts by Orson Scott Card. Terrrific sequel to a terrrific series!!! The Ender's Shadow series is one of my favorites! For those who haven't read it or Ender's Game, they haven't read good sci-fi yet!

Lol.

The latest book I read is "It's a breakup, not a breakdown workbook" because I broke up with my boyfriend on Wednesday and it really sucks. Lol.

But BOOK BOOK is "The art of racing in the rain" by Garth Stein which I literally read in three hours because it is a beautiful book written from a loyal dog's point of view, growing up with a family. Amazing. Breathtaking.

Remember when I complained that I had to drive to Mesa for your booksigning? I'm moving there in January. I got accepted to ASU's air traffic management program. =)

Congrats on selling the rights in Taiwan! The teaser for Tick doing something unbelievable was both torturous and intriguing. You ought not tease your fans so.

As for the last book I read, well, I'm currently in the middle of it. I'll update you when I'm done. =] It's called "Way of the Shadows" by Brent Weeks. Assasins with magic, how can you top that?

James, I am now an official follower of your blog, although I faithfully read before anyway.

The last book I read was New Moon by Stephanie Meyer (surprise, surprise...). It's the second in the Twilight Saga, and this one is about 'the darkest period of Bella's life,' hence the term 'New Moon.'
This details the time period when Edward left Bella...and how Bella becomes best friends with Jacob Black. Actually pretty good. I kind of like the Twilight books...they read well. But I don't think they're as good as the rest of the world thinks they are. So, those of you who are curious should give the first book a shot, and if you like that, the second one. If you don't read it in under a week, you probably shouldn't waste your time. You don't like it very well if it takes you that long.

Magenta said...

OMG, James. Maybe this contest wasn't such a great idea after all...

Look at all the people hounding after your precious ARC! I think you're going to be breaking a record for the most comments ever on a blog post!

And just because you're a famous author giving away the most hyped up book ever! It's just absolutely amazing!

I keep checking back here to see the competition, and I see you getting dozens of new followers and dozens and dozens of commenters. How on earth are you going to sort through all of that for your one winner?! Are you sure you wanna let this pile up until Monday? Because you'll probably have a hundred comments to sift through by then.

And I can just imagine all the people signing up on Twitter and Facebook. Sheesh.

I'm not really clear on this. You only mentioned one ARC, for sure, for sure. But are you also giving away more than one? Like two? Or more? Because I think a lot of people are going to be jealous if only one person wins. Including me.

But I'll be alright. ^,~ I'll still be a faithful follower, even if I don't win. Which I probably won't. After all, I prefer to stay away from Twitter and Facebook.

Alright. Since I didn't follow you anywhere new or read anything, this isn't another entry comment. Just felt like talking to you. But you know, I am working on a way to better my chances and sneak another entry in...

Taiwan, my home country! I love when books I know are translated and published there. Not that I can read them (my vocabulary is that of a 4th grader's or so), but it's still fascinating to see familiar books and how they look in other countries. I'll be sure to look out for a copy of the Maze Runner when I go back to visit. :)

As for the contest, I would love to read an ARC. I'm now following your blog and Twitter. The last book I finished was "Life As We Knew It" by Susan Beth Pfeffer, an apocalyptic novel in diary form about what happens when an asteroid hits the moon and knocks it closer to the earth. This was a reread for me, but I'm happy to say that it's just as good the second time around!

Hi, James. Great idea about the book review. I heard your "Really Boring Author Talk" at BYU WIFYR this year and thought it was absolutely unboring, plus all my new friends from BYU this year are friends of yours, plus Krista Marino talked up Maze Runner like crazy, so when Bree mentioned you're giving away ARCs I thought I'd pop over and try to win one.
The last book I read was a really long picture book called Tatsinda, by Newbery-winner Elizabeth Enright. A cute story I loved as a kid, so I read it to mine. A couple of things annoyed me about it as an adult, but the story was fun.

The last novel I read was Eva Underground, by the amazingly-prolific Dandy Mackall, who has written, what, 400+ books? I liked it a lot, in spite of the cover, which makes it seem like a sappy love-story. It's based on Dandy's own experiences as a teenager in communist Poland during the 70s. Very cool. It does have a romance, but not a sappy one, and I love the sense of danger throughout the book, as well as the way Eva changes from superficial and spoiled, to focused on fighting for the people she comes to love and learning to value the things that really matter. Great book.

Chersti Nieveen said...

I am following you on all three.

Okay, so I've been dying to read this book since forever ago when I heard Stacy Whitman talking about it. I'm so glad Krista picked it up so now it'll be in print! And having heard the first few paragraphs at the BYU WIFYR, I'm like agonizing in anticipation.

Last book I read: That would be If I Stay, which I strongly recommend if you want a heartbreaking book. Much better than Lovely Bones, which I found disappointing, and I just love how close the family is in the novel.

Wow, guys, you are blowing me away! Thank you, I'm honored.

And I may have really good news about upping how many ARCs I can give away!!!!!!!

I've already become a follower on your blog. Does that count? I'm reading Dune by Frank Herbert right now. Just one of those classics I never got around to reading before.

I became a Facebook fan. So now I'm not just a follower, I'm a groupie too! Ah, but it's worth it for a chance to read Maze Runner before everyone else.

I've added you on facebook.

Over the last few months I have read a lot of great books by James Dashner, Brandon Mull, and Brandon Sanderson. However the last book I read departs from the realm of fantasy. It is an autobiography by Ralph Moody. The title of the book is Little Britches: Father and I Were Ranchers.
The best thing I can relate the book to is Little House on the Prairie. Except this book chronicles the life of a nine year old boy and his family as they move to Littleton Colorado in 1909. We follow Ralph as he grows up and learning life’s lessons. His father teaches him about his character house, values of honesty, and family unity.
We meet other memorable men like "Hi" the cowboy and the Indian “Two-Dog.”

I follow your blog so count me in!

Let's see, the last book I read I think was Lemon Tart by Josi Kilpack. It was a culinary mystery sure to please the senses. I think I gained five pounds just salivating over the recipes listed in there.

Don't know if you'd like it or not since to me it seems more geared towards women readers. Oh well, give it a shot anyways. It's nice to have men read about strong female leading characters. Hee hee!

66 posts later O.o dear lord I think I may have to just wait for the book to come out!

I am now following you on Twitter.

The last book I read is called Whisper My Name to the Grass. It's about a Utah housewife who went to Georgia (as in former Soviet Republic of Georgia, not my Georgia) as a tourist and ended up becoming a presidential advisor to Eduard Shevardnadze. (Recognize the name. Yes, he was Gorbchev's right hand man back in the day). She took over two C-5 planes of humanitarian aid, including old SLC fire engines. When there was an assasination attempt on Mr. Shevardnadze's life, the international news crews captured two SLC fire engines pulling up to put out the burning remains of his Mercedes. All true. Fascinating read.

Oh, I also follow your blog. Do I need to mention that I really want an ARC, or is that understood by my begging. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE.

James---

If I can score another ARC, I can pass it along to my mom, since I already shipped my current copy to my best friend in Missouri. It's a big deal for him because he almost NEVER reads fiction. (I've about cured him of that.)

He recently read the Hunger Games and has been begging me for something to fill that new void in his life. After he read Maze, I asked him what he thought about it and the first words out of his mouth were "I can imagine that girl being totally hott." Hahahaha job well done, my man!

Dave said...

James,
GREAT JOB on Taiwan! Where's all the props people?? Just a bunch of crazy MAZE lusters after a signed ARC! Maybe I say this because I already have a signed ARC of it. Ok, its not the shiny cover, but it did the trick. To whomever wins...you are one lucky dog! This book was AWESOME! The 2 13th Reality books were nothing short of 5 stars as well. I am so looking forward to the next release of both the 13th and Maze that its driving me nutz! Especially knowing I have sooo long to wait for either. James, I put down Fincher as if I inhale them, I will have nothing of yours to read forever. Maybe if I hang around long enough I can get an ARC of the 3rd 13th :O) You are the man. Keep it up. Good luck to all who enter and the winner should consider themselves blessed!
Dave

Dave said...

And James, if you make any changes from the ARC to the final released copy, please post them as it would be greatly appreciated.

Dashnog- Biliqu [bill ee kyu]-a list of comments so long that you grow gray hair trying to get to the end to add your post.
Usage: Man if the blog keeps up this biliqu stuff I'll have to get twitter.

Here is my 2 cents, I follow the blog and am adding you as friend and fan on facebook. I really really want an ARC. Anyone who has read the ARC needs to go to Amazon.com and add a review. There are some stellar ones up, but a few more will do more than you can guess. Check it out.
Viva la MAZE!!!! All Hail the Chalsions!!!!

+1 I already follow your blog
+1 I now follow you on twitter - http://twitter.com/lafemmereaders

+1 The last book I read was Lucifer and Lacious by Sean Vincent Lehosit and yes I recommend it. It's a very well written book with powerful words and crazy imagination.

I'm now following you on facebook, and I just finished Sara Zarr's Sweethearts. It was darker and a lot more serious than the cover looks. Very well written, hard to put down, but very, very serious.

I just signed up as a follower to your blog.

The last book I read was Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen. It was a truly amazing book with alternating POVs and very complex characters. The thing I love most about it is how seemingly inconsequential actions can be open to so much misinterpretion. Definitely highly recommended.

I follow your blog and now I'm a twitter follower - thebrainlair

The last good book I read: there is a tie between Fire by Kristin Cashore and When You Reach Me by Rebecca Steadman. Do Not Pass Go until you read these books!!

How 'bout a shout out to your grassroots fans? Like the Chops :-)

+1--been friends on FB for months

+1--Followed you on Twitter within 24 hours of the announcement

+1--If you want to get your hands on a well-rounded dystopia, I highly recommend "The Supernaturalist" by Eoin Colfer. Not quite Airman, but it's vintage Colfer in a dystopic future. Plenty of twists, tech and top-notch tom-foolery to hold your attention in a headlock and make it beg for mercy.

+1--We sat at the Fablehaven party together, James! Come on! That's like being brothers in the Sicilian Mafia :-)

I was a fan/friend on Facebook until my parents asked me to delete my account-sorry Mr. Dashner. I follow you on Goodreads, and on blogger. :)

I just read Chanda's Wars. It was really, really good. I highly recommend it. I'm currently reading Fire and Hemlock by the lady who wrote Howl's Moving Castle, and it's...weird. Cool, but weird.

I still say I should get an ARC because Jacoby got the t-shirt and I didn't. ;) Just kidding.

Nicole said...

I think this is a great idea! Would love to read the ARC.

The last whole book(s) I read were Harry Potter 6 and 7 for the thousandth time :) The last new book I read that was not a repeat was The Hourglass Door (which you mentioned on your blog). Absolutely loved it and recommend it to others!

Dave said...

What he heck. I'd love an ARC with the new glossy cover. Just looks way too cool to resist. I will enter like everyone else. +1 following on twitter. The last book I just read was an ARC of "Fire" by Kristin Cashore. A great prequel to "Graceling". I'd highly suggest reading them both. Wasn't my "typical" read, but came highly suggested. I gave them both 5 *'s. Thanks James and good luck to everyone entering! Keep posting about books you guys love as it gave me some good ides for my "to read" list!

+2 I am now following you on blogger and Twitter, because, first of all your cool; second, I love adding people to my twitter for some reason, even though I can't read all the tweets of the people I follow. Weird, I know.

+1 Last book I read (and just finished yesterday, actually) was 1st to Die by James Patterson. It was AWESOME, seriously. Although it lacked a bit in detail in some parts, it totally made up for it with the suspense and the fast-paced ending. Highly recommended, if you love thrillers.

Erica said...

I would absolutely love to win an ARC!!!

I follow you on twitter... and your blog.

The last book I read was Graceling and I pretty much think everyone should go grab a copy like now!

Don't choose that Piglet de'Erin girl, choose me! ;)

I am already your friend on facebook, and now I am officially a follower on your blog. (Whereas previously, I only blog-stalked you. And, lets face it-- writer's conference-stalked you.)

Currently, I'm reading The Book of Three. Somehow, it doesn't still hold quite the draw it had for me when I was in fourth grade. :(

Congrats on Taiwan!

I so followed your blog because you're really funny.

Umm, the last two books I read were first, the 13th Reality (over again...) and we all know why we need to read that one right? Right...

And the other book I am reading now is Anne of Green Gables which is a classically written book. It's utterly charming and perfectly adorable (good and clean without any sticky morals)

Just today, I was searching for a new book to read - I would love to get my hands on that ARC! I follow you on Twitter, Blog (obviously), and am a fan (on and off of facebook).

Yesterday I read the Lightening Thief, by Rick Riordan and have skipped ahead to listening to the Labrynth (Book 4) on audio, because I could not find anything in the house I haven't already read.

I am now a blog follower and a Facebook friend.

The last book I read was the third Harry Potter book. I'm rereading the series after the new movie. If you haven't read it, you should be ashamed of yourself for spending time to read the rest this post when you could be halfway through the first chapter of one of the best books in existence.

James Dashner said...

Holy crap. You people are blowing me away with this! I'm really hoping to have more than two to give away, so more of you will win. (yes, I'm brilliant at math.)

And thanks again for all the nice words and book recommendations.

James,
What other countries besides what had been agreed upon already, are you looking into getting the book published in? This is great news, as I assume, the more countries, the more copies you would eventually sell right? AWESOME WORK!
Dave

I would love a signed copy of your new book. Just finished The 13th Reality.

Magenta said...

OMG, Dash. 90 comments? You've got to be kidding me...

btw, I thought I'd mention that I just came back from reading a few chapters of your 2nd book, Dark Infinity. ^_^

I didn't finish it yet, but I was very happy to read it because I haven't been able to find it in such a long time. Maybe it's that I usually looked in Borders, and this time I went to Barnes and Nobles. What gives?

I may not have made any more moves to following Twitter and Facebook, but does this put me higher in the running? I hope you're right about getting more ARCs.
