Thomas, Aphrodite. Aphrodite, Thomas.

We sold Greek rights to THE MAZE RUNNER trilogy!

I was very excited to hear this from Lauren Abramo at my agency last week. (Thanks Lauren!) It just seems cool. Storytelling has such deep roots in the country of Greece, not to mention all of the history. I can't wait. Somebody out there tell us what the title will be in Greek.

The publisher is Platypous, and they've recently published TWILIGHT and THE HUNGER GAMES, so it's great company to be in. Looks like they're very excited and will try to get the first book out by spring of next year.

For those of you who missed it, we had a fun weekend of people telling us odd things about themselves. We had an OCD tighty-whitey guy, a real vampire and, my personal favorite, someone who loves "blood and body organs and guts and stuff like that." I couldn't make this stuff up.

Since a lot of you were out doing less important things than hanging out at the Dashner Dude this past weekend, let's continue the confessions. Tell us something odd or unusual about yourself!

Okay, here's my bit of oddity (wish I could link it to the Greek thing, but alas...).

I'm convinced our house is going to burn down at some point. The reason? There's a big ole red fire hydrant RIGHT at the end of our driveway. It'd be too deliciously ironic not to happen, right?

Wow! You're gonna have geeky Greek fans now! Congrats!

Platypous? Why does that make me think of the animal platypus? What a great crowd to be in. Greek Twilight and Greek Hunger Games. I love it!

That oddity stuff was a lot of fun, wasn't it? I read your last comment about how you and your family really enjoyed themselves with our collective weirdness. Glad your fans are good for something. ^_~

Yeah, that vampire person is totally a weirdo! (Compliment, it's a compliment! Don't bite me!)

Hmm, I want to entertain you with another strange thing about me, but it's hard to think them up... Well, I don't like buying books a lot. Even though I love to read, I don't buy books. Why should I when I have a perfectly good library to reserve materials from? Sure, the hot books that come out in bookstores take a lot longer to reach library shelves, but it's always worth the wait for me.

BTW, I've tried my hardest to reserve Dark Infinity, but the only thing that comes under your name is Curious Letters. (I've read it twice, and I'm not really a fan of rereading books, even though they might be awesome. So think yourself privileged. ^,~)

So I've been reading Dark Infinity straight from Borders. Yeah, just another thing I do. Of course, my last visit was several days ago, but I'm already half-way through! I love your writing! Hope to get back to it soon!

That's awesome about Greece Dashman! :) Congrats!

Let's see... how am I weird? There are just too many options.

How about this--I am secretly obsessed with vacuum lines. I love the way they look on the carpet when they are all going the same way. I hate carpet that doesn't show vacuum lines. It feels like a fruitless waste of time. I have to force myself not to re-vacuum the carpet when someone else does it and they don't line up just right...

don't worry, I'm seeking therapy for it.

;)

1) As of today, I have planned out my Halloweens for two years! What? It's the best holiday in existence!
2) I sometimes go out on a windy day with an umbrella trying to be Mary Poppins (I have not accomplished it.. YET...)
3) Disney cartoons secretly scare me.

MORE odd things? Let me think...

My lower eyelashes are almost as long as my upper eyelashes, but half of the length of the lowers is blonde so you can't see them well.

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE GREEK PUB. RIGHTS!!! Maze Runner will be read 'round the globe! I'm so happy for you! Hey, when somone shows you their copy from Greece you can say, "It's all Greek to me!" Ha ha ha!

More weird things? I check the locks on my doors at least 3 times before I can go to sleep. Never did this before I had kids. Go figure that I'd become a paranoid mama.

Hey, Dashner. Long time no see. Sorry I ducked out for a while, but I'm back. I don't know how I feel about the confessions. I'm not a secretive kind of person, so what you see is what you get. If you find me a little twisted, so be it. ;)

I want to be MacGyver when I grow up (and learned how to make a fertilizer bomb from him).

Make that, I want to be a *published* MacGyver. Maybe I'll write my autobiography...

I talk to my car when it starts having problems. Usually I end up offering condolences when she (name's Soobie) breaks down, but there are a couple of times when I've talked her into working through a bad fuel pump, a broken alternator, and four bald tires in a snowstorm. In return, I deck her out with totally awesome decals and graphics, so everybody knows she's mine :-) I've even got a big banner on the front windshield that reads "The Graham Mobile" with a little Transformers insignia in the middle.

It's a mystical bond between man and machine...

Wow I want to learn to make a fireball, maybe I can use it on my annoying sibs...

oh and congrats on your Greek rights being sold! I cant wait for the rest of your books to come out so we can read them(that is what we are supposed to use them for right?)

Soobie, Graham? Let me guess... your car is a Subaru, right? ^,~

Congrats on the sale -- looks like we're house mates in more than one country!! Yay!!

My weird thing: I have to set the alarm for an odd number in the mornings :)

I have never eaten cereal with milk, climbed a tree, broken a bone, gotten stung by a bee, had a cavity, been to the beach, or gone rollerblading, skateboarding, surfing, water skiing, snow skiing or snow boarding.

My favorite song is the credits song to a video game I have never seen or played, yet I have all three verses memorized.

I know the Greek alphabet by heart and can write it in both cases. My email address is a Greek letter.

Thanks Carrie! We'll have to learn all these languages.

Lovin' the weird stuff guys.

Okay,

Weird stuff . . . where do I start.

I have a 200 year old character named Noble living in my shower.

I also have a number of characters living in my head including a number of vampires.

I love pumpkins, any kind or color.

I have spent the last year thinking of anf executing assassinations in my head.

Dashnog: Thupp, The sound your feet make as your running from the vampires.

You keep asking for weird things. It's almost like you WANT me to say that, unequivocally, the weirdest thing about me is that I think you're a pretty cool guy--even though everyone else thinks the same thing! d^_~b

But I'm not here to play truth or dare. I'm posting to point out that the PW on-sale calendar is up, so if you wanted to do a post announcing your print run, you wouldn't be revealing anything PW hasn't already revealed...

Dashnog: inoded. Pronunciation: "eye-knowed-id." Meaning: "the secret has been revealed." Usage: "James wouldn't tell us his print run, but inoded."

OK, I know you won't believe this, but my husband speaks Greek. He lived there for two years. I don't know how The Maze Runner will translate, but it will certainly look amazing! (With that alphabet, how could it not?)

I have never broken a bone, but those green shiny rocks really make me dizzy...

According to an online translator Maze Runner, in Greek is:

Δρομέας λαβυρίνθου

Which sounds something like:

Dromeeas Laburinthou

That is so random about the Greek rights. I just watched that MY Big Fat Greek Wedding the other night. The cool thing is that now you can go to those international BookSeller conventions and sign copies of your international books ;)

Can't think of anything weird about myself. I think everyone else is weird. I'm perfectly normal.

James,
Its one thing to reiterate the fact that I wear tighty-whitey's (and only in the ocean or pool under my swim trunks), but to say i have OCD also! I DO NOT! I DO NOT! I DO NOT! I DO NOT! I DO NOT! - Hey, did i say that 5 or 6 times because you know, everything has to be in even numbers?!?

I like mowing the lawn just for the little lines it makes. Sometimes, the medical clinic next door mows the lawn into a holiday shape. For Halloween, they made a giant jack-o-lantern. I am going to try and spy on them so I can see how they make it so perfect.

Dashnog: actee- Someone who wants to become and actor/actress but isn't "good enough".

Usage: Jesse is the biggest actee ever to be made known.
