BEA Report Teaser

OK, sorry I've been so quiet, but I've had a complete whirlwind of a few days and couldn't quite gather my brain pieces enough to do a report yet. I promise a detailed and full posting is coming soon.

Until then, check out this awesome article in Publisher's Weekly about THE MAZE RUNNER and the YA buzz forum yesterday. And just for the record, when they refer to [wtf], both David and Krista actually said the real deal, which I took as quite an honor. :)

To read the article, CLICK HERE.

btw, I was chillin' with the likes of Scot Westerfeld (UGLIES) and Peter Lerangis (39 CLUES) at dinner tonight. (I'm such a star struck geekin fan boy, it's embarrassing.)

Way to GO!!! I loved hearing about your trip to New York, especially since I was there at the same time as you! I too, have blisters on my feet and am weak in the knees from all of the walking. (Just for the record, unless you walked in heels, you don't know what real pain is.) Your wife would know.

I went to the BEA Writer's Conference on Wednesday and I met Michael Bourret as well. Super nice guy, he was THE FIRST AGENT I pitched during the slam pitch. Why I went to him first, I'll never know. (Can you hear me banging my head on the desk?) I still hear these words in my head, "Abort mission, abort mission!" I was totally nervous and rambled on and on, but I couldn't stop myself. I only had three minutes before I had to move to the next agent! You've said so many great things about him and I didn't know if I would get another chance. By the time I got to the third agent, I had my pitch down pat. Even though I totally messed up, Michael still asked me to send him stuff as did ALL six of the other agents. Yeah, I know. I'm one step closer. (I seriously hope they weren't just saying that to get me out of their hair.)

I would have loved to meet you and get your signature, but I flew back late Thursday night. I am glad to report that hubby did a GREAT job and the kids and puppy are still alive.

Again, Congratulations! It is truly inspiring to live vicariously through you and your experiences.

Holy crapola! They compared Maze Runner to Lord of the Flies. So awesome! I'm so excited for you. Don't forget the little people... :D Congratulations on so much success and excitment.

Good job, nkrell! I'm sure you did a superb job with your pitch. :)

James-I don't think I can wait till October to read the Maze. I'm making a plan to get it from Graham when he's finished with it. Mwahahahahahahehehehehohohohhahahahahahahha!

Wanting The Maze Runner actually caused me physical pain today. Wish I were at BEA, but I'll just have to settle for pouting about not being there.

Every time I read your blog, you've got more great news. How do you stand it? Don't you ever worry that you'll explode or something? Just don't explode before you finish writing the entire 13th Reality and Maze Runner series, though, because I don't think your fans could handle it. Congrats!

Shields up, Arlene! You know what you have to do to get it from me. And I'm VERY picky.

James, the guy who wrote uglies is probably on his blog going DUUUDE, I got to hang with Dashner tonight! They're the fanboys. :-)

You're a rock star JD! Was sad to have missed the YA buzz panel =( but the blogger panel was at same time & I had to leave that early too for another author stalking.

Thanks for letting me stalk you again. Because you are awesome & I <3 you. Can't wait to read Maze Runner. =)

Hi James,

I saw you at BEA. I didn't take home any gallies (because I'm not a book buyer) EXCEPT YOURS! I couldn't help myself... I wanted to read The Maze Runner immediately. I'm about halfway through now.

Best luck!

Thanks everybody! I promise to get the full report started sometime later today.

Amy, thank you very much! You might have some people from my blog stalk you down for that ARC. :) Hope you like it - let us know.

This doesn't have much to do with Dashner's post, but I've got an announcement to make...

After not touching it for a month, I've finally updated the Dashnog Dictionary! Phew! What a lot of work. Here's the link for your viewing pleasure.

http://docs.google.com/View?docid=dchwzh4r_50kb5tx7ch&pageview=1&hgd=1&hl=en

For those attentive Dashnoggers, you'll probably notice that there seems to be fewer words than before. Well, you'd be right. There used to be 188 words, but I reduced the number to 165.

Why, you ask? Well, I took Dashner's advice and removed all the sub-par Dashnog words that I didn't think deserved to be part of the Dashnog language. Words that had only one word definitions, (I'm talking to you, #1) words that didn't seem to click well with their assigned definitions, words that I didn't imagine would be useful in everyday speech (if people spoke Dashnog every day, that is. ^_^)

Personally, I'm quite proud of the work I did. I took out loads of words. Mostly words Fan #1 invented (sorry. I hope you're not mad >,<), but I removed a few from everyone. Even myself. All except for the words James Dashner invented himself. It's his language, after all. ^,~

Anyway, I believe I made the right editing decisions. I think if anyone wants to add a new word, they should come up a unique definition, and not make it represent something that pretty much already exists in English.

I don't think I mind being Dictionary keeper for a while longer. I'll get back to this in another month.
