Scorch Cover, 2009 Sales

Two quick things today that are interesting.

First, the cover for THE SCORCH TRIALS is NOT final, but it's popping up all over the Internet somehow, so I wanted to make sure I let you know about it before you heard it from another source. You can CLICK HERE to see it on Amazon, and I've seen it on a few blogs as well. There will be changes to make it even better, but that's basically it. What do you think?

The word "Companion" will be replaced with "Sequel" because it's most definitely a direct sequel. Also, the colors will be more vibrant and the sky amped up a bit. Once we have a final version, I'll put it up on the blog more officially.

Second, Publisher's Weekly did an article on sales numbers for 2009, and I'm ecstatic to see that THE MAZE RUNNER is included in the Top 100 (#97) for new hardcovers! Considering the competition and the fact it was only out for 3 months of the year, I'm thinking that's not too shabby! We've sold a lot through things like the Scholastic Book Fair, which don't show up on Bookscan, NY Times, etc., so this number really surprised me and made my day.

Here is the article if you'd like to see it: CLICK HERE. Fascinating stuff. I'm not quite in Stephenie Meyer's league yet. Haha.

I hope everyone is off to a great week so far...

Oh first to comment. Well yeah, congratulations and I don't care if the cover is finished or not it's still amazing and is probably going to be better than The Maze Runner. Yet, have you decided if you should make it The Maze Runner Trilogy or something else?

Can't wait for 13th Reality, that's the day Kingdom Keepers 3 comes out too. And it's during Spring Break, how shucking awesome is that?! Ooh, reading week. Although I probably finished both in two days.
Well Dashner, until next time.

All good news, James! Congrats.

And I'm glad you clarified that Scorch is a sequel and not a companion book because I was really confused by the cover. I love sequels, but I don't really go for companion books very often. Excited to get to read it someday!

You are MOST definitely in Stephenie Meyer's league! I am so excited for The Scorch Trials! I made my own Widget on iGoogle for the hours counting down until the book is released. I sent you an email maybe a month ago. Have you read it? It would be cool for you to reply, but you know, whatever works. I just got the first 13th reality book at the library. I'll start reading soon, I promise! Oh, and like I said in my last comment on the last blog post, loving the scorch trials cover! I am so buying it the minute it comes! Oh and Jackson Porter, the maze runner is a Trilogy starting with The Maze Runner and The Scorch Trials and ending with The Death Curse! Sounds cool right? Well anyway, later!

Love,
Your Favorite Shank!

Please make a contest for getting an arc of the Scorch Trials! I would die if I won! I know a lot of your followers want a chance to win one too!

Really excited about the sequel to the Maze Runner! I'm constantly recommending it to people where I work (I work at a bookstore) and so far everyone's loved it too & keeps coming back and asking about the next one. Can't wait to read it!

Awesome, James! Congrats!

I can't wait for The Scorch Trials! I just started reading A door in the Woods, and i'm half-way done. It's full of suspense and suprises. I love it! So have you considered giving an arc of The Scorch Trials to a contest winner? You should seriously consider doing it! It would give you tons of publicity! Now wouldn't you like that? :) But I seriously want a chance to get an arc of the book! I would start screaming if I won, (im not kidding!). Well anyway, congrats for getting in the 97 spot! it so earned it. And oh... YOU ARE THE BEST bloody author in the world!

Hey, got the book Dashner, thanks for spending $5.00 on me. It made my day. Can't wait to read it!!!

Vanessa M. said...

I don't think it even needs to be changed it's that awesome. If it was a book one and I'd seen that cover, the cover alone would convert me.

And about ARCs if you get there, don't do a contest for just one ARC but many. We all want a copy!

Morgan said...

Patrick riordan, rick riordan son, is reading Maze and loves it! It says so on Ricks blog!

Leesie Jones said...

I totally agree with Vanessa! You should have a contest giving away several arcs! It would be so nice!

This is a random question--
was there ever an audio cd made of book 4 in the Jimmy Fincher Saga?

I'm so excited for more info on The Maze Runner movie. Be sure to email me! I sent you an email a couple of weeks ago. Be sure to answer it!

Man I love the Maze Runner. That thing probably should have placed the Top 10! The only problem is I don't know if I will be able to wait 3 more weeks for The Scorch Trials to come out, and even then probably another month for the school library. I guess I'll have to talk my parents into taking me to Barnes and Nobles.

Hey Jackson how was the Scorch Trials. I can't buy it yet, but I want to know how it was!
