Mr. Chu

Okay, what are the odds of this? Check out the description of the next Maximum Ride book coming out from James Patterson: CLICK HERE. Mr. Chu? A criminal mastermind? Come on!

Well, at least I used the name first. Plus, he was named after my real physics teacher in high school. But I can't wait for the accusations that I stole it. Sheesh. First Edgar, now this.

(EDIT: Come see me tomorrow (Tuesday) night at the Orem Barnes & Noble, 7:00)

first yay...its ok they only used those names because you had that idea...and plus ur so cool they had to take it....

Becky said...

I agree with #1, you're just too cool for your own good. I wonder if his first name is "Ah" in Patterson's book . . . probably not. By the way, when are you going to be in Orem for a signing James?

James Dashner said...

Tomorrow (Tuesday) night at 7:00, Orem Barnes & Noble.

And it's not like I think those people stole my names. It just seems an absurd coincidence with such unusual names.

Not that Chu is unusual, but to actually be known as and constantly called Mr. Chu? And our books come out 2 weeks apart? What are the odds!

Actually, once you read Book 2, you'll realize that what I've said about this is not entirely accurate... :-)

WE GOT YOUR BACK, JAMES!!!

The Scarlet Tart said...

No worries.

I'm going to get "The Journal of Curious Letters" today and then, because of my amazing reading skills, I will tell you what I think tomorrow or the next day.

I KNEW there was more to Mr. Chu. He is a really busy guy: Teaching school and commanding evil armies on the side. Wow.

Magenta said...

How dare two Jameses write about the same character? Well, a character with the same name. I wonder what was going through Patterson's head. He should read your books.

James Dashner said...

Don't count those chickens till you read Book 2. The Mr. Chu storyline is a long and twisty one.

Thanks for having my back!

Rainy said...

Cut JP some slack, he's getting old and his books are falling off the deep end.

All well, I hear your books are good, I'll have to read them sometime.

James, what's the deal with Dark Infinity only being in one B&N in the valley? Tried to pick up a copy at the Jordan Landing location and they had to order it. Didn't it have an official release date of March 1st?

James Dashner said...

I have no idea, dude. I know all B&N's ordered at least a few. Beats me anymore what the release date is.

I'm really sorry for those who've gone to look for it and didn't find it.

But thanks for trying.

That Mr. Chu gets around...realities, bookshelves, other author's heads.
You might need to put him on a leash, dude. ;)

Glad to see 13th 2 is sellin' out. It makes me that much happier to hug my little copy close and whisper: "Precious...my own, my precious..."

Heather Moore said...

That's a riot about Patterson. Don't worry, the last couple of books I read of his were poorly written. So YOUR Mr. Chu will be way cooler--plus you have the copyright to prove it :)

Q said...

How dare he!

(My word verification is actually a word for once: ankle. What does that mean, exactly?)

Anonymous said...

Heather what do you mean will be it already is.....what would you say if I invite you (James Dashner) to my orchestra concert on May 19 at 6:30…..so…...tiki iki....

The Scarlet Tart said...

I just realized the B&N you'll be at is the one where I bought my copy of the musical of Les Mis like twelve years ago. And while that matters very little to you all, I just had a delightful bout of nostalgia.

And sad news-I didn't get my book while I was out today...ran out of cash. I guess buying groceries took precedence or something. But never fear, I will get my hands on a copy soon enough.

random info time...my school was put on lock down today....with me commenting on your blog my typing skills have got better....

I'm SO EXCITED for tomorrow night!!! And....yes. Mr. Chu is evil. Very evil. :)

Okay, I don't know how you do it, but the conf words on this blog rock. I think I'm gonna start a fictional language based on the first meaning that comes to mind when I read the confirmation word on your blog...I'll call it the language of Dashnog.(for Dashner blog.) Tonight the word is MUSNA! I think I like the long U pronunciation. Muuusna. It will mean "noodle."

So about Mr. Ah Chu. Gesundhit-(actual German word for 'bless you' when someone sneezes.)
It's like the twighlight zone, the classic (not the vampy one.) 2 authors with the same name creating a diabolical character with the same name. dududu dududu.(long u again)

Diva Donna said...

New word: PUNGR and it means "lame man who doesn't understand a very funny joke" short definition is "my husband" in the language of Dashnog he will be known as
'Pungr, the unfunny.'

James Dashner said...

#1, I have a signing in Ogden that night! Sorry!

James Dashner said...

Well, Donna, at least I thought it was funny. I'm no Pungr.

Heather, thanks for your awesome review over on Amazon!!!!!

Diva Donna said...

Thanks Dashner, congratulations on avoiding the pungr stigma.
Have fun tonight! Hope all the fans flock to Orem. I'm working or I might have dragged the psycho EM writers out to see you. Who knows they may go anyway.

The Scarlet Tart said...

Shoot! I'm still in Reno. Another time I guess.

Deb said...

How late will you be at the signing tonight, James?

My confirmation word is andavat... in Dashnog it means someone who is always sticking their foot in their mouth. Now I'm not specifically saying that I'm an andavat, but I could be :)

The Scarlet Tart said...

My conf word is toidis-meaning someone who doesn't recognize a pregnant lady when they see them. Who knows what lengths they might go to to figure it out.

James Dashner said...

I'll probably be there until 8:00 or 8:30. Depends on how many people show up!

You guys are hilarious.

Anonymous said...

Duh, you guys this whole word verification thing is lame I was the one who brought it up first in the first place...want proof the forth one up….
http://jamesdashner.blogspot.com/2009/02/change-world-tour-take-3.html
James I guess I will have to forgive you for not accepting my invite….so apparently the girl (who is my bros friend) by my little bros locker really really likes the 13th reality series…..she has your picture hanging on her locker and I tried stealing it from her….but I didn’t actually steal it from her I gave it back like a good girl….my blog word I dishwash….which reminds me of my chores I hate the stupid word verification thingy….

Anonymous said...

oh ya and its missionary week at school so technicly I shouldn't be on here...ohs wells..im addicted to your blog.....

Anonymous said...

or shall I say.... THE NINETEENTH REALITY .....orchastra festival was fun...didn't get a score though

Diva Donna said...

Hope the signing goes well.
Good Luck!

#1 I can't find your reference to the conf word and I'm certain it had nothing to do with my new language of Dashnog!
Preinte--means wise. So it would be preinte for you to let us create our lexicon or you may be designated a Pungr which is a sad stigma that follows people for life. =)

Lene-toidis? how many of those have you met....oh yeah Dashner makes one...hehehe.

LaFemmeSimple said...

Am I the coolest commenter since I KNOW MR. CHU?!?!?!

and yes...reading book 2 will make this whole thread 10 times funnier lol

The Scarlet Tart said...

He's not the only one. Let's face it. They're out there. They may not all be as psycho, but nevertheless.

P.S. Donna-you make me laugh.

Dashner-did you see Twilight? I'm taking the opportunity this weekend to watch it in the cheap theater...just to mock it one more time. Donna, wish you were here for the experience. It won't be as fun without your witty banter.

Diva Donna said...

Thanks Lene. The inspiration you give me its incredible.
conf word is 'flornfab' I kid you NOT! and in honor of Twilight coming to the cheap theaters...flornfab will mean catepillar.
Trust me it relates. Back me up here Arlene. Say hello to the catepillars this weekend.

James Dashner said...

Sarah, you're definitely the coolest commenter because you're my friggin SISTER! Love ya.

I love the Dashnog stuff. Hilarious.

And trust me #1, you want the word verification thing. Otherwise we'd get spammified. I tried it.

Thanks to JN, Deb, Becky, Q, Georgie, and any other faithful Dashner Duders who came to Orem B&N tonight. That was awesome!

The Scarlet Tart said...

Girl, I've got your back! Definite caterpillar issues going on. And just to enlighten everyone reading this going, "what the crap are those two talking about?" The guy who plays Edward in the Twilight movie has a caterpillar for eyebrows. It's a shame really. Someone needs to take a shaver to those things...and remind him he's suppose to want to eat Bella, not vomit from the sight of her.

The Scarlet Tart said...

Dashner, I feel like I've been neglecting you on your own blog. Sorry. Sounds like you had some kicks tonight. Very cool! Congrats and keep it up! And just to prove that I mean it, here's a hug...these come few and far between so don't waste it. :)

The Scarlet Tart said...

Ooooooh! Chalsion! In Dashnog-the coolest fan ever. That would be #1. No teasing implied at all. It's all you all the way #1!

James Dashner said...

Personally, I thought Edward was much more handsome in Harry Potter.

Anonymous said...

ditto about the whole harry potter thing.....my word verification is readjpd so I’m guessing it is saying to read James Dashners books but I have no clue what the p stands for…Dashner do you have a middle name …..That happens to start with the letter p…….when in doubt leave it out (well with commas)……..I used to like Wednesdays but now I don’t because we have to run in gym (got to love those sevies)….

Karlene said...

Just finished Dark Infinity. Loved it! But I didn't have enough advance warning to get to your book signing. :(
