One Year Anniversary - MAZE Giveaway

This weekend marked one year since I was able to become a full time author. (See, the news made this guy in the picture happy! OK, actually that's some dude from the fifties, but I laugh every time I look at it.)

I still feel thankful each and every day to write for a living. I am one lucky dude! To do something you love for money is a thing I only dreamed about during those miserable few years as an accountant.

(I must stop here and apologize to all my former bosses and co-workers. I really liked YOU. Just not the work. I'm already looking forward to my chastising phone call from you, Doug Lyons.)

Anyway, let's celebrate!

My publisher still has a few ARCs of THE MAZE RUNNER held especially for this blog, so let's give away... three.

Hmmm, how to qualify.....

I feel dorky making people follow me on Twitter or whatever to enter the contest. If you're going to follow me on Twitter or follow this blog or whatever, I want you to do it because you want to, not because you wanted to win a free book.

Okay, so since I recently resurrected the "Lyrics of the Day" thing, let's make that our theme. To enter the drawing, please give us a few lines of a favorite song in the comments. Those will be fun to read during my breaks this week. The contest ends this coming Friday (the 14th) at noon, at which time I will announce the three winners.

REMINDER: Come see me at Authorpalooza at the Orem Barnes and Noble tomorrow night (Tues the 11th) at 7:00 pm.

Lyrics of the Day:

This land is your land,
This land is my land,
From California....

Okay, I'm just kidding. You guys will provide the lyrics this time.

May the best humans win!
(EDIT: One last thing: you guys gotta go check out the inside artwork for J. Scott Savage's upcoming book, FARWORLD: LAND KEEP. CLICK HERE to see it. The illustrations are by Brandon Dorman and really, really cool - like the book! I read it and blurbed it.)

One of my favorite songs is probably The Good Left Undone by Rise Against
A few lines are:
But I know
Not a day goes by
that I don't feel its burn
Theres a point we pass from which we cant return
I felt the cold rain of the coming storm
All because you!

One of my favorite songs at the moment is Guernica by Brand New. My favorite lines are probably:

If I could, I would shrink myself
And sink through your skin to your blood cells
Remove whatever makes you hurt
But I am too weak to be your cure

This is one of my favorite songs by a local band. Count Me In by Framing Hanley:

You can paint the picture pretty
But it serves as no disguse
Its only getting later now
And you've become a waste of time

One of my favorite songs is Dont Laugh at Me Song By Mark Wills....you can find the whole song on my blog.....I really like the meaning of the song.....

I'm a little boy with glasses
The one they call the geek
A little girl who never smiles
'Cause I've got braces on my teeth
And I know how it feels
To cry myself to sleep

I'm that kid on every playground
Who's always chosen last
A single teenage mother
Tryin' to overcome my past
You don't have to be my friend
But is it too much to ask

Don't laugh at me
Don't call me names
Don't get your pleasure from my pain
In God's eyes we're all the same
Someday we'll all have perfect wings
Don't laugh at me

How awesome!! I love Lyrics! I'm going to have to copy this lyrics of the day thing for my blog!
From my two fave songs:
"You cant fight the tears that ain't coming
or the moment of truth in you lies
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know you're alive"
"I guess it's time I run far, far away; find comfort in pain,
All pleasure's the same: it just keeps me from trouble"
I'm weird huh? anyway, I really want the books!

It's actually 3 faves so here's the last one:

"After all I knew it had to be something to do with you
I really don't mind what happens now and then, as long as you'll be my friend at the end"

BTW the songs are: Iris, Tears & rain and Kryptonite.
Love your blog!

Awesome idea James!

Okay, one of my very favorite songs ever is Spaceman by the Killers.

The star maker says it ain't so bad
the dream maker's gonna make you mad
the spaceman says everybody look down
it's all in your mind

I rarely skip this song when I come to it on my iPod. All of their songs have very clever imagery like this...very creative. :D

Great idea (plus, then you don't have to count the dreaded extra entries).

My favorite song is currently
Full Moon by The Black Ghosts

When the thorn bush turns white that's when I'll come home
I am going out to see what I can sow
And I don't know where I'll go
And I don't know what I'll see
But I'll try not to bring it back home with me

Like the morning sun your eyes will follow me
As you watch me wander, curse the powers that be
Cause all I want is here and now but its already been and gone
Our intentions always last that bit too long

(the first half of the song)

I'm also loving Iron & Wine, particulary Love and Some Verses

Love is a dress that you made
long to hide your knees
love to say this to your face,
"I'll love you only"
for your days and excitement,
what will you keep for to wear?
someday drawing you different,
may I be weaved in your hair?

Love and some verses you hear
say what you can't say
love to say this in your ear,
"I'll love you that way"
from your changing contentments,
what will you choose for to share?
someday drawing you different,
may I be weaved in your hair?

I couldn't pick one!

One of my favorite songs: Who Needs Air by The Classic Crime

A few lines:

My addiction to danger like the rush of the sea
Like a wave on the rocks, the lessons crash down on me
I don't need to prove the world to you, only to myself
So step back, look away as I dive into the swell

Wow, bit headspinning...can't believe it's been a year already! Congrats!

My favourite restful song right now is Going Whicher Way the Wind Blows by Pete Droge.

"Going whichever way the wind blows,
you were caught in your world,
I was lost in mine.

Going whichever way the wind blows,
staring through the windshield,
seeing the other side.
let it go, it will get easier,
let it go, just enjoy the ride.

Going whichever way the wind blows,
Spacing on the road map,
useless dots and lines.

Going whichever way the wind blows,
tearing out the pages,
just to watch them fly,
let it go, it will get easier,
let it go, just enjoy the ride.

let it go, it will get easier,
let it go, just enjoy the ride.

Going whichever way the wind blows,
Going whichever way the wind blows,
stare into the rearview, leave it all behind."

I'm lovin' Linkin Park's New Divide:

I remembered black skies, the lightning all around me,
I remembered each flash as time began to blur,
Like a startling sign that fate had finally found me,
And your voice was all I heard that I get what I deserve.

While this isn't my most favorite song it is what will not leave my head at this time. It is from the 1943 movie "Best Foot Forward" starring Lucille Ball:

Knuckle down Winsocki
Knuckle down.
You can win, Winsocki
If you buckle down
If you mow them down
If you go to town
You can wear the crown
If you will only buckle down.

Hm...a favorite song:
Fix You by Coldplay

When you try your best but you don't succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need
When you feel so tired but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse

And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

I can't tell you how many times I've tried to set this song up so I could use it on a girl, and for some reason the prime moment always eludes me, but "San Dimas High School Football Rules" by the Ataris is an arrow that will always be in my quiver:

(Last three lines)

I only wish that this could be
Just dump your boyfriend and go out with me
I swear I'd treat you like a queen
(long quitar solo)

Sigh. Someday.

Hey James, I bet I could get a date this weekend if someone hooked me up with a copy of an unobtainable book to give away...buddy... :-D haha I know I'm out of the running. No sweat, brother.

I like this one. It's I'm Yours by Jason Mraz.

I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait I'm sure
There's no need to complicate
Our time is short
This is our fate, I'm yours

Well no no, well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and --- you're free
Look into your heart and you'll find the sky is yours
Listen to the music of the moment come and dance with me
All one big family

This is the most random song in the world...but I like it...

This was a triumph
I'm making a note here, huge success

We do what we must because we can
For the good of all of us
Except the ones who are dead

But there's no sense crying over every mistake
You just keep on trying 'til you run out of cake
And the science gets done
And you make a neat gun
For the people who are still alive.

So the best lyrics to me are:

"I dug my key into the side
of his pretty little
suped up four-wheel drive
carved my name into his leather seats.
I took a Louiseville slugger to both headlights and slashed a whole in all four tires."

I mean, seriously, any guy writing this song would get arrested for being a stalker. It's just comical that a woman gets away with it.

I make my kids listen to the "oldies" and this (I Need a Hero by Bonnie Tyler) is their favorite, thus we must listen to it many, many, many times.

Where have all the good men gone
And where are all the gods?
Where’s the street-wise Hercules
To fight the rising odds?

Isn’t there a white knight upon a fiery steed?
Late at night I toss and I turn and I dream of what I need

I need a hero
I'm holding out for at hero 'till the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight....

Right now I'm loving the album Volume One by She & Him.

Cried all night till there was nothin' more,
What use am I as a heap on the floor?
Heaving devotion but it's just no good,
Taking it hard just like you knew I would.
Old habits die hard
when you've got, when you've got a
sentimental heart.

One of my favorites is Chicken Fried by Zac Brown Band:

"And its funny how it’s the little things in life that mean the most
Not where you live, what you drive or the price tag on your clothes
There’s no dollar sign on a piece of mind this I’ve come to know
So if you agree have a drink with me
Raise you glasses for a toast
To a little bit of chicken fried

Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up
Well I’ve seen the sunrise
See the love in my woman’s eyes
Feel the touch of a precious child
And know a mother’s love"

Sorry, I'm tired and dealing with a 16 month old. Here are some cleaner lyrics...

"Nap time, nap time,
glorious, glorious naptime,
eat it up yum."

Okay so my literary abilities don't make it creating songs for my daughter...so here are some professional lyrics...

"In violent times, you shouldn't have to sell your soul
In black and white, they really really ought to know
Those one track minds that took you for a working boy
Kiss them goodbye, you shouldn't have to jump for joy
You shouldn't have to shout for joy

Shout, shout, let it all out, these are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on"

"Shout" by Tears for Fears

Please choose me for the ARC, if not for my lyrics than at least to save my sanity and provide me with a getaway break from a toddler and being pregnant and because in September we are having a James Dashner month on my book review blog.

I'm kind of obsessed with Rilo Kiley these days, particularly the song Silver Lining. Some of the lyrics are these:

And the grass it was a ticking
And the sun was on the rise
I never felt so wicked
As when I willed our love to die

And I was your silver lining
As the story goes
I was your silver lining
But now I'm gold

It's a great song to run to. Or to write to. It's all-purpose.

A song I like to listen to over and over is Stolen, by Dashboard Confessional. It's especially appropriate for the end of summer.

We watch the season pull up its own stakes
And catch the last weekend of the last week
Before the gold and the glimmer have been replaced,
Another sunsoaked season fades away

Link to my favorite version.

Dear god! 25 comments in just a couple hours?! These people must be desperate. =P Hey, it's with good reason! Maze Runner is awesome! Good luck to whoever wins at the end of the week. And this time I definitely bet that the comments exceed 100.

Hard to believe it's only been a year! Congrats! I've only been a blogger for 8 months, so I guess I caught you pretty early on. ^,^ I should check out how you were before you became a full time writer.

Great contest theme. Hopefully it will be a lot easier to decide who your three winners are.

Since I've already won an ARC off of you (thanks a ton!) I won't bother writing my favorite lyrics. Besides, I'd have too hard a time to pick just one!

(btw, why don't I recognize any of the songs everyone else listed here?! Or musical groups? I guess my head is stuck on the big rock-and-roll groups of the 20th century. Plus the Jonas Brothers. ^_^)

Dorman's pics are cool. I just finished reading Water Keep. What a coinky-dink! I'll probably post my review of it soon. (Have you seen my review of your book yet? ^,~)

Again, good luck to everyone! I'm rooting for my friends out there!

A current fav of mine is "The Ocean" by The Bravery:

"All of these moments are lost in time

to forever torment me and I wonder why
Do I wish I'd never known you at all?"

Another one I like is by Tori Amos called "A Sorta Fairytale." I just like the taste of the words in my mouth.

"And I rode alongside
til' the honey spread itself so thin
for me to break your bread
for me to take your word
I had to steal it."

A few lines from one of my favorites - Where The Streets Have No Name by U2

I want to run
I want to hide
I want to tear down the walls

I want to feel sunlight on my face
I see the dust cloud disappear
Without a trace
I want to take shelter from a hurricane
Where the streets have no name

you spoil us with all these book giveaways, but it must be fun to look at all these comments all the time.

here's a song that makes me laugh. It is called: Johnny McEldoo by The Clancy Brothers:
Johnny McEldoo turned red, white, and blue
as a plate of Irish stew he soon put out of sight,
he called out with "encore" with a roar for some more
that he'd never felt before such a keen appetite.

I almost have memorized this song and still laugh at it.

Just for you, James, and all your traveling I will share just a taste of the lyrics from "Albuquerque" by Weird Al--a staple favorite at my house.

Oh yeah
You know, I'd never been on a real airplane before
And I gotta tell ya, it was really great
Except that I had to sit between two large Albanian women with excruciatingly severe body odor
And the little kid in back of me kept throwin' up the whole time
The flight attendants ran out of Dr. Pepper and salted peanuts
And the in-flight movie was Bio-Dome with Pauly Shore
And, oh yeah, three of the airplane engines burned out
And we went into a tailspin and crashed into a hillside
And the plane exploded in a giant fireball and everybody died
Except for me
You know why?

'Cause I had my tray table up
And my seat back in the full upright position
Had my tray table up
And my seat back in the full upright position
Had my tray table up
And my seat back in the full upright position

So I crawled from the twisted, burnin' wreckage
I crawled on my hands and knees for three full days
Draggin' along my big leather suitcase and my garment bag
And my tenor saxophone and my twelve-pound bowling ball
And my lucky, lucky autographed glow-in-the-dark snorkel
But finally I arrived at the world famous Albuquerque Holiday Inn
Where the towels are oh so fluffy!
And you can eat your soup right out of the ashtrays if you wanna
It's OK, they're clean

And now you know you're going to go look it up on Youtube, aren't you? ;-)

Some lyrics that helped pull me through one of those difficult "stages":

Let me fall
Let me climb
There's a moment when fear and dreams must collide

Someone I am
is waiting for courage
The one I want--
The one I WILL become--
will catch me

So let me fall
if I must fall
I won't heed your warnings
I won't hear them

Let me fall
If I fall
Though the phoenix may
Or may not rise

I will dance so freely
Holding on to no one
You can hold me only
If you too will fall
Away from all these
Useless fears and chains

~ From the Josh Groban song, "Let Me Fall"

Juliana said...

Ooh, and one fun one:

A long, long time ago
In a galaxy far away
Naboo was under an attack
And I thought me and Qui-Gon Jinn
Could talk the federation into
Maybe cutting them a little slack

But their response, it didn't thrill us
They locked the doors and tried to kill us
We escaped from that gas
Then met Jar Jar in Boss Nass
We took a bongo from the scene
And we went to Theed to see the Queen
We all wound up on Tatooine
That's where we found this boy...

Oh my my this here Anakin guy
May be Vader someday later - now he's just a small fry
And he left his home and kissed his mommy goodbye
Sayin' "Soon I'm gonna be a Jedi"
"Soon I'm gonna be a Jedi"

Did you know this junkyard slave
Isn't even old enough to shave
But he can use the Force, they say
Ahh, do you see him hitting on the queen
Though he's just nine and she's fourteen
Yah, he's probably gonna marry her someday

Well, I know he built C-3PO
And I've heard how fast his pod can go
And we were broke, it's true
So we made a wager or two
He was a prepubescent flyin' ace
And the minute Jabba started off that race
Well, I knew who would win first place
Oh yes, it was our boy

Now we finally got to Coruscant
The Jedi Council we knew would want
To see how good the boy could be
So we took him there and we told the tale
How his midi-chlorians were off the scale
And he might fulfill that prophecy
Oh, the Council was impressed, of course
Could he bring balance to the Force?
They interview the kid
Oh, training they forbid
Because Yoda sensed in him much fear
And Qui-Gon said "Now listen here"
"Just stick it in your pointy ear"
"I still will teach this boy"

We caught a ride back to Naboo
'Cause Queen Amidala wanted to
I frankly would've liked to stay
We all fought in that epic war
And it wasn't long at all before
Little Hotshot flew his plane and saved the day
And in the end some Gunguns died
Some ships blew up and some pilots fried
A lot of folks were croakin'
The battle droids were broken
And the Jedi I admire most
Met up with Darth Maul and now he's toast
Well, I'm still here and he's a ghost
I guess I'll train this boy

The lyrics to the song actually contains this line or a variation of it 30 times (officially). I am here to tell you it is more like 32. I counted them. They fade off at the end of the song and you can hear at least two more. Unless I simply can't count right... After all, I did run out of fingers and toes.

Someday your child will cry and if you sing this lullaby
Then in your heart there will always be a part of me"

Uh-huh. We're three fifths of the way there, people! 60? If this keeps up at the same rate, I'd guess you'll have closer to 150 entries here, Dude. You know, since it's 30 times the 5 days the contest will be open... Sorry, I'll stop now before I go overboard with math. =P

Ah, finally a song I recognize! Sending out an SOS, by Police! I hear that on the radio from time to time. Message in a bottle, message in a bottle...

Dave, James might've blurbed about Laura and Alvor, but who do you think gave you the idea in the first place? *hint hint* ^_~

Have a lot of fun at Authorpalooza, everyone! Especially you, Dude!

Dave said...

Magenta, yes, you did give me the idea, as well as seeing it here. But, you did tell me to try and read it, and i went right out and bought it on your advice! keep in mind, though, if it werent for James, i would have never known you to even get that advice, so he has to get props too :O) and also you will have many chances to win it!

As for all the Weird Al fans out there my husband is a HUGE fan and I endured three concerts of his while living in Seattle (I like about 1/3 of his songs). For the benefit of my husband I was looking on Weird Al's website last month and found a brief mention that he is going back on tour 2010. YEAH me!

We went to Paris last week. It was, to put it mildly, not the right time of year to go. August is apparently when all the native Parisiens get out of town and make room for the tourists, of which there are many. Very many. We had to stand in line for literally hours everywhere we went. Upon seeing my unhappy face once too many times, my naturally cheerful older son suggested that I lift my spirits by singing a happy song. But the only song that occurred to me was:

Hello muddah
Hello faddah
Here I am at camp Granada

and then the rousing chorus:

Take me-e-e ho-o-ome!
Oh, muddah, faddah,
take me-e-e ho-o-ome!
Oh, please don't make me stay!
I've been here one whole day!

So those are my lyrics for the day.

There's more that rises in the morning than the sun,
And more that shines in the night than just the moon,
There's more than just this fire here that keeps me warm,
And a shelter that is larger than this room.

And there's a loyalty that's deeper than mere sentiment,
And the music higher than the songs that I can sing.
The stuff of earth competes for the allegiance
I owe only to the giver of all good things.

So if I stand
Let me stand on the promise
That you will pull me through.
And, if I can't
Let me fall on the grace
That first brought me to you.
And if I sing
Let me sing for the joy
That is born in me these songs.
And if I weep
Let it be as a man who is longing
For his home.

Favorite song lyrics...there are so many! How about this one....

It's over and I'm overwhelmed
I'm emptied out like a dusty shelf
You buried me-and I'm covered in shame
I'm here but you look right through me
Just hear me out for what it's worth
You still rip my breath away
I've come around
I know you've heard it before
And again and again...

I'll leave it a mystery as to who and what it is from...of course Google will solve it fast for you!

Please enter me in your drawing...thanks!

To further the goal of 100 posts, I'm submitting one more song's lyrics. I love lyrics.

From Sissel:

Hallowed are the mountains
On this crystal day
Come the hour of twilight
Change is on its way

Eventide ascending
Robed in veils of blue
Magic is this moment
Sharing it with you

Drifting off to sleep
All the world in peace
Seven seriphs softly singing
Puts our souls at ease

Hallowed are the mountains
On this crystal day
Come the hour of twilight
Change is on its way

One of my absolute favorites is Staring at the Sun by U2.

Summer stretching on the grass... summer dresses pass
In the shade of a willow tree creeps a crawling over me
Over me and over you stuck together with God's glue
It's going to get stickier too...
It's been a long hot summer
let's go undercover
Don't try too hard to think... don't think at all

I'm not the only one starin' at the sun
Afraid of what you'd find if you took a look inside
Not just deaf and dumb i'm staring at the sun
Not the only one who's happy to go blind

There's an insect in your ear if you scratch it won't disappear
It's gonna itch and burn and sting
Do you want to see what the scratching brings
Waves that leave me out of reach
Breaking on your back like a beach...
Will we ever live in peace?
Cause those that can't do often have to
Those that can't do often have to... preach

To the ones staring at the sun...
Afraid of what you'll find if you took a look inside
Not just deaf and dumb... staring at the sun
I'm not the only one who'd rather go blind

Intransigence is all around... military is still in town
Armour plated suits and ties... daddy just won't say goodbye
Referee won't blow the whistle God is good but will HE listen
I'm nearly great
But there's something I'm missing I left in the duty free
Though you never really belonged to me

You're not the only one staring at the sun
Afraid of what you'd find if you stepped back inside
I'm not sucking my thumb I'm staring at the sun
Not the only one who's happy to go blind

Maybe I'll write some lyrics. Just to keep you entertained, Dude. Hmm... think, think... what would make my song of the day...

I am what I am/ I can't help myself/ and if you don't like it get with somebody else/ I'll never change my ways/ it's not a phase/ this is how it is and this is how it's gonna stay because...

I am what I am, by the Jonas Brothers. It's in their first album. Nick sounds weird with his young, high voice, but I like how fast paced the song is.

I think those lyrics would describe me best. ^,^

Great contest idea!

In the city where nobody smiles
And nobody dreams
In the city where desperation
Drives the bored to extremes
Just one spark of decency
Against a starless night
One glow of hope and dignity
A child can follow the light

No matter what they say...
No matter what they say...

Everyday people
Everyday shame
Everyday promise shot down in flames
Everyday sunrise
Another everyday story
Rise from the ashes
A blaze of everyday glory

If the future's looking dark
We're the ones who have to shine
If there's no one in control
We're the ones who draw the line
Though we live in trying times
We're the ones who have to try
Though we know that time has wings
We're the ones who have to fly...

Congratulations on one year! (And, no, these lyrics are not a commentary on that achievement. I just like them.)

Sometimes I wish that you were dead
That is because you haunt me so
I wasn't right to let you go away
I tried to kill the pain inside
But you are always on my mind
No matter where I go or stay

Into the night still falls the rain
Even the dogs stay home tonight
Out on the streets, goin' nowhere
Just one direction in my thoughts

Love can be magic, it can be a game
Sometimes it's tragic, sometimes a shame
Words were my bullets, emotion my gun
I was a runner, now I'm on the run

This is "Wishful Thinking" by Alphaville

You are all I'll ever want, but this I am denied
Sometimes in my darkest thoughts, I wish I'd never learned
What it is to be in love and have that love returned

Are we paying for some crime
Is that all that we are good for
Just a stretch of mortal time

For some God's experiment
In which we have no say
In which we're given paradise
But only for a day

I am a huge Disney fan and my favorite is the song from Pocahontas called If I Never Knew You (it plays over the credits).
A few lines from the song are:

In this world so full of fear,
Full of rage and lies,
I can see the truth so clear
In your eyes, so dry your eyes.
And I'm so grateful to you,
I'd had lived my whole life through,
Lost forever if I never knew you.

Ending unplanned.

Staring at the blank page before you
looking out the dirty window
let the sun illuminate the words that you cannot find

Reaching for something in the distance so close you can almost taste it, release your inhibitions

Feel the rain on your skin
no one else can feel it for you
only you can let it in
no one else, no one else, can speak the words from your lips
drench yourself with words unspoken
live your life with arms wide open
today is where your book begins
the rest is still unwritten.

This is from my favorite Westlife song Flying Without Wings :

Everybody's looking for that something
One thing that makes it all complete
You find it in the strangest places
Places you never knew it could be

Some find it sharing every morning
Some in their solitary lives
You find it in the words of others
A simple line can make you laugh or cry

You find it in the deepest friendship
The kind you cherish all your life
And when you know how much that means
You've found that special thing
You're flying without wings

James AND fans,

I am not going to give away my copy this Friday, it will be a bit of a longer contest, but still, it's worth it. My site is www.thelateinergangbookreviewspot.blogspot.com

I am posting a different contest tonight for a signed copy of Laura Bingham's "Alvor", but if it is ok with James, I will give away my ARC of MAZE.

Thanks and this is my way of giving back to James. He has been very kind to me and I love most of the fans on here and have made some new friends.
Thanks

Carrie Underwood's "So Small" has been my favorite for awhile for many reasons. I would LOVE to win an ARC of The Maze. You know I wanted to take off with the copy at the writer's conference. ;)

What you got if you ain't got love
the kind that you just want to give away
its okay to open up
go ahead and let the light shine through
I know it's hard on a rainy day
you want to shut the world out and just be left alone
but don't run out on your faith

'cause sometimes that mountain you've been climbing
is just a grain of sand
and what you've been up there searching for forever
is in your hands
when you figure out love is all that matters after all
it sure makes everything else seem so small

it's so easy to get lost inside
a problem that seems so big at the time
it's like a river thats so wide
it swallows you whole
while you siting 'round thinking 'bout what you can't change
and worrying about all the wrong things
time's flying by
moving so fast
you better make it count 'cause you cant get it back

sometimes that mountain you've been climbing
is just a grain of sand
and what you've been up there searching for forever
is in your hands
oh when you figure out love is all that matters after all
it sure makes everything else seem so small

sometimes that mountain you've been climbing
is just a grain of sand
and what you've been up there searching for forever
is in your hands
oh when you figure out love is all that matters after all
it sure makes everything else...
oh it sure makes everything else seem so small

Ha ha. I just spent a lot time of time copying and pasting names in order to count out how many people entered here, and guess what?

Somewhere between 85-90 individual people have entered this contest so far. Why? Because besides James commenting here every so often, there are also some of us who like to check back in here to see how the numbers are going, and have our voices heard. Namely myself, Dave and #1.

I really can't believe how many times each of us commented. It's hilarious. We're all obsessive commenters, I guess. =P

I would have commented with lyrics to Viva la Vida by Coldplay, but someone already did, so I randomly thought of the first song that came to mind, and searched the lyrics.

Ta-dah! Disturbia by Rihanna

It's a thief in the night to come and grab you
It can creep up inside you and consume you
A disease of the mind, it can control you
It's too close for comfort

Put on your pretty lies, you're in the city of wonder
Ain't gon' play nice, watch out you might just go under
Better think twice, your train of thought will be altered
So if you must falter be wise

Your mind's in disturbia, it's like the darkness is light
Disturbia, am I scaring you tonight?
Disturbia, ain't used to what you like
Disturbia, disturbia

Muahaha... now it's stuck in your head, isn't it?

All you do is take jabs at me. Every other post includes my name or a comment referencing me or my site (yet you come to my site and act as if you are a different person). I have asked you to leave me alone. I actually enjoyed coming to this site and posting. I have tried to ignore you for the most part, but whatever your problem with me is, just get it out. I would like to continue to post here and read everyone's comments, as I HAVE made some friends here and enjoy James and love his books, but you are making it very difficult on me. I would greatly appreciate it if you could not mention my name anymore, not mention my site, or make any reference to me at all. This way I can continue to enjoy myself here. You write on your blog about problems making friends and parents not letting you be friends with their children. Have you ever considered why that might be? I would not trust you to be a friend to my daughters for a minute. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't even need to tell them that, their own judgement would guide them far away from you in the total opposite direction. I have always been nice to you, tried to help you out, and also joked around with you a few times when you were upset and making unwarranted nasty remarks to me. Here's a nickel's worth of free advice: get help now because if you don't, you are going to be in some sort of huge mess when you grow up. I am not being mean, just trying to be honest and help you. You have some serious issues. Now, I will ask you again, please do not post my name, my site, or make any reference to me at all, whether it be "anonymous" or not. And do me a favor, do not visit my website anymore. You know, the one you complain about me posting about here and then the one you come on, enter my contests, and post on quite often. People from here actually like the site and you are the only one who complains. From now on, wen on the Dashner Dude's site, just pretend "Dave said..." does not appear on your screen. Seriously, enough is enough and you can start by not replying to this or just simply saying "ok".
And I don't want to hear it is not you who posted that. Only an idiot could not figure that one out. My apologies to James and the rest of you who have to read this, but I wish to enjoy myself here and hopefully continue to contribute value to the site. All I am asking is to be ignored by one person who spoils being on here for me. Good luck to all of you and ill tell you later how you can have another chance to win a Maze ARC if you are not one of the lucky 3. Im not in the mood to right now, which you never hear me say, but.... good luck to you all anyway and may the best lyrics win!

Congrats on your one year anniversary, James. You totally deserve it!
